Chương 8: “Stealing Corpses”
Thankfully, God really blessed Neo, and the rain didn't injure anyone, including a little slime taking cover behind a small rock.
Only the hunters' raincoats and backpacks were sacrificed to a certain degree.
The hunters didn't care about this small "loss" and continued to kill as many slimes as they could.
If they got an intact slime core, they would carefully put the slime core that could continuously create a wonderful corrosive liquid into small special jars.
On the other hand, slime corpses were casually thrown to the ground, waiting for a major clean up.
As the hunters killed more and more slimes, the slime corpses were scattered everywhere.
One time, Tom almost stepped on the slippery slime corpse on the ground, instantly triggering his series of curses.
"Sh*t! Fck! D*MN! There are disgusting slime corpses everywhere! Hello? Can anyone collect the corpses??"
Aside from littering the ground and making it difficult for the hunters to move around, if someone didn't collect the corpses, other slimes would soon devour their own kinds and eat those corpses.
When Tom started to curse, he didn't forget to drag Charlie, who still didn't consciously pick up the slime corpses for them.
"Hey, weaklings! You're the porter, right? Quick! Clean up the corpses! I almost can't move!"
Tom would definitely spit on Charlie's face if he could, but he was teaming up with Daniel, quite a distance away from Charlie.
When Charlie heard Tom's loud curse echoing in the cave, he reflexively shuddered while speeding up his movement to stab the slimes that Remy helped him to restrain.
"O-okay! Okay! Wait! Just one more slime to kill."
After symbolically killing a few slimes with Remy's help, Charlie immediately picked up everyone's backpacks that they put on the ground while fighting.
He picked up the scattered corpses around everyone's feet one by one, and put them at a clean corner without slimes.
Then, he separated each hunter's spoils clearly so that no one would feel unbalanced.
The hunters would count the number of slimes they killed and Charlie would honestly add the corpses into the hunter's piles.
John killed thirty slimes, and Tom, the troublemaker, actually killed twenty slimes in a short time.
Lina killed fifteen while Remy killed ten, just like Daniel.
Listening to the hunters reporting their number of kills, Charlie's heart silently ached.
He only killed three slimes…
He knew that he was useless, but the gap was too big.
With a heavy heart, Charlie pursed his lips and took out tall cylinder tubes from the hunters' backpack.
Next, he started to dutifully stuff the slime corpses into these tall cylinder tubes that could fit fifty slime corpses at once per tube!
Coincidentally, the place Charlie chose to sort out the spoils was just a few meters away from the small rock where Neo was.
Neo peeked out of the rock and looked at Charlie, who was dealing with slime corpses.
With a ding sound, a light bulb suddenly appeared in Neo's mind.
He came up with an idea!
Should he eat those corpses?
It would fill his belly and restore his energy so that he could use many more skills!
Neo had already thrown away his heart full of guilt for eating a fellow slime.
Those slimes didn't see him as their own kind, so why should he become a "saint" here?
With a plan in mind, Neo sneaked into the corner where Charlie processed the slime bodies and when the young man was not paying attention...
The little slime hurriedly stretched its "hand" and dragged a slime corpse to the back of the rock he was using as a temporary shelter from the acid rain.
Poor Charlie, he didn't know that coincidentally, the slime corpse that Neo chose was precisely the one he killed.
He only killed three, but one was stolen right under his nose.
Neo silently used his remaining acid liquid to slowly gnaw on the slime corpse and soon, he slurped the slime into his belly.
This time, he didn't activate the [Devour] skill because a corpse didn't count as a "living being".
After digesting one slime corpse with a lot of difficulties, Neo continued to steal a few more slime corpses.
This time, all the other five hunters were not spared.
Hum. He's such a fair slime!
After Neo had a full belly and even burped in satisfaction, his belated idea of taming a human being suddenly returned.
But he realized one thing.
These hunters should be the "awakened" like him, and that blonde woman said that they were all F-rank hunters...
To tame any of these hunters, he had to level up to an E-rank at the very least!
Thank God dungeon beasts could continue to level up even when their initial awakened rank was low.
If not, Neo couldn't imagine how he could survive as a slime.
Neo quickly checked his slime race's basic skill to see how a slime could level up and found the [Absorb] skill that he had never studied in depth.

When Neo saw the skill level of [Absorb], his "eyes" widened like two huge coins.
What?? The slime race actually had a legendary-level skill?
And it's a basic skill!
With such an awesome skill, how did the slimes stay at the bottom of the ladder?
Is it simply because they're stupid?
…nevermind, let's not curse his own kind and read the skill description instead.
[Absorb] skill.
[The slime can absorb any inanimate things containing processed magic/energy to upgrade and evolve.]
It means, Neo had to eat the processed magical materials, a.k.a, the hunters' weapons and prop for [Absorb] skill to be activated.
Since he wanted to eat those hunters' weapons, he had to let down their guard first.
At least, he had to make those hunters more friendly to him.
Is there any skill that can achieve this effect?
