The Arcane Emperor

man this is such a good novel that leaving a negative review seems like blasphemy, unfortunately though I've been feeling quite frustrated about this for a while now, so much so that I had to stop reading it several times already, something that rarely happens to me. First of all, the story is very good, that said, it's almost completely ruined by the mc's character. By that I mean that, while it's fine being kind and overprotective, being so kind that he's making everyone else stronger at his own expenses with them contributing next to nothing, is no different from being stupid. And that's exactly what he's doing, not to mention his overall stupid choices but we'll get to that later. In short what happens in this novel is him getting several friends and carrying them the whole way so much so that to make them stronger he's wasting most of his training time, while they, obviously weaker and not adept at anything of any real use to him, demand him to make them stronger (because that's what's happening, excluding Gunthar, I love that guy) and he agrees, going above and beyond even wasting rewards from advancements and repayment from talvara (this one was seriously ridiculous). Not to mention the fact that he's got such an overpowered class and he's still weak as **** because he's too focused making everyone stronger without thinking about ways to fix his glaringly obvious weaknesses, this also caused by his apparent lack of both ambition and reason. He is fully aware of his weak body, to the point that without that ridiculous overcoat he would have died ten thousand times over, thus him blatantly basing his every chance of survival on external help and not even considering a warrior type subclass (this after acknowledging at the beginning to this not being a game and that maximizing a single class type would have been stupid), and even with that stupidly overpowered coat he almost got killed by someone on a slightly higher level who managed to get close to him, saving himself purely through luck and help from kara who can amazingly still help in such a situation (mostly because of the element of surprise of course), not to re-mention the fact that with that body he's completely unable to satisfy Kara who's barely getting half a **** each time (man seriously it's like getting interrupted in the middle of it I can't even imagine the frustration that girl is feeling). And that's not even the worst of his weaknesses, HIS MANA for ****'s sake, he's barely stronger than someone at the same level as him with somewhat rarer classes despite being able to do so much because he barely has a ****stain worth of mana and he's not even trying to find a solution fully knowing there are ways to do so, he's even got his sister and a fire touched as a reference, even aware of the downsides if he doesn't try to search a way he'll never find one goddamnit, he's even started to rely on one time use pre-prepared spells to fix his physical and mana weaknesses... it's pathetic man. Now the last thing.... the girls are so fucking overpowered that they are way stronger than he was before reaching the second rank (luna apparently included judging by how things are going), and he's helping them get even stronger, the moment kara breaks through she'll basically be stronger than him seeing how she can still strangely contribute to his fights, sarah's talent and power are litterally unlimited even if she doesn't break through, luna has a flame strong enough to burn litterally anything and none of their classes comes even close to the arcanist or archon one, AND YET he's trash... and they are too since without him they would be nothing, despite it being so, however, they still feel no shame in wasting his time, slow his progress, just to make them stronger, and kara even told him not to waste time on improving his close combat ability, ergo close quarters survivability (in a world that is not a game, with a class that would allow him to do so without too much trouble). I'm sorry man, I feel guilty for what I said 'cause it's a really good novel, but this is a failure in character design, even overlooking his hypocrisy, I've only reached chapter 86 so I don't know if it will keep being so stupid. I don't think I'll be reading it for a while, the part of the void will has seriously broken me man, I was trembling in outrage. If you read this author know that it's a really well made novel and I don't mean to offend, also if anything I said gets fixed in the near future and you feel like telling me I'll keep reading immediately and eventually change my feedback.

Loved it cant say anything else much.
