Chương 5: Chapter 5 There's Always Someone Better
The housekeeper left.
A triumphant smile crept across Shi Youxuan's greasy little face. Through the mirror of her vanity, she looked disdainfully at her own hands and face before locking the door and heading to the bathroom to take a shower.
The hot water cascaded from the showerhead onto her snow-white skin, warmly filling every pore—a particularly comforting sensation.
Shi Youxuan hummed a song with her eyes closed contentedly, thinking about getting a good night's sleep after a shower and contacting Jian Yining tomorrow morning.
Although she had been preoccupied with eating at the dinner table just now, she didn't miss the expressions of the housekeeper, the servants, and the bodyguards.
They were filled with contempt and disdain for her!
On the other hand, the Eldest Young Master's expressionless face was inscrutable, giving no clue as to his thoughts.
But that didn't matter. What was important was that Shi Youxuan believed she wouldn't be disturbed for quite a while and that the things she wanted to do would soon be accomplished.
After a comfortable bath and casually wrapping herself in a towel, Shi Youxuan stepped out of the bathroom.
"Ah—"
She exclaimed in shock, blurting out, "Why are you here? How did you get in?"
Sheng Hanyu sat casually on the bed, speaking slowly and deliberately, "This is our bridal room, and you are my bride. Should you be so surprised to see me?"
Shi Youxuan quickly realized her lack of composure and immediately laughed foolishly, clapping her hands and saying, "How fun, how fun! I locked the door, yet you were able to come in. Brother, you're so amazing... Teach me how you did it, will you...?"
The little woman's naivety was endearing—flatteringly described as innocent and pure, but actually just foolish, exactly like the information the bodyguards had gathered.
However, Sheng Hanyu was very patient with her, picking up a key from beside him and holding it up, "It's simple, with this, I can do it."

Shi Youxuan almost lost her act; she could barely maintain the smile on her face, cursing Sheng Hanyu out in her mind: sly, annoying, despicable, shameless... Having a key makes you great, huh? Entering someone else's room without their permission, what a psycho!
Clearly, she and Sheng Hanyu had different thoughts. Shi Youxuan had already claimed this territory as her own, without any intention of sharing it with Sheng Hanyu.
Sheng Hanyu asked indifferently, "Have you taken a bath?"
"Yes."

Although she had married him willingly, Shi Youxuan had no intention of having any physical contact with Sheng Hanyu; she merely wanted an excuse to leave the Shi family without raising Jiang Yadan's suspicions.
If she were a "normal" girl, such thinking would be unrealistic, but she's an "idiot," so such thoughts were quite fitting.
Shi Youxuan believed that with just a little scheming, she would be despised by Sheng Hanyu and left aside, ignored.
But the development of things didn't seem to be going as she had expected!
"Go and run the bathwater for me," said Sheng Hanyu, his tone still indifferent yet leaving no room for negotiation.
Shi Youxuan was reluctant but had no reason to refuse, and she was afraid that saying too much would give her away and Sheng Hanyu would notice.
He was only blind, not stupid!
And she was "stupid," so the persona of a fool had to obediently listen, or else it would collapse.
"Alright, I'll run the water for your bath."
Shi Youxuan bounced back into the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and filled the bathtub halfway with cold water, then poured an entire bottle of shower gel into it.
"Brother, you can't see, let me help you," she said earnestly, supporting Sheng Hanyu to the bathroom.
The man frowned slightly—she called him "brother"? That was a strange term of address. It sounded affectionate, but Sheng Hanyu didn't like it at all, especially not coming from this little woman's mouth.
