Dimitri breathed heavily, shoulders rising and falling in rage. He looked lost, as if he couldn't seem to calm down any more, at least not in that moment.
Though his mind was already made up to return the favor, the rage was something he couldn't control. He hated it, hated the fact that he couldn't do anything at that moment. He hated that he couldn't match straight to Caesar's estate, take hold of Adeline and force her right back here with him.
She was his muse, the only thing that entertained his miserable life. He had fun with her even though it was one sided and something he would never admit. Messing with her was enjoyable and her reaction was always the best.
She didn't live when she said he took pleasure in making life hard for her, because he really had. But what did she expect, that he'd be all lovey dovey with her?
That was too boring for him. She was his entertainment and needed to live up to it.
