Chương 44: Sign in Kirishima

In the sky, Wang Yi flew with his sword like a legendary immortal.

The fog was so thick that, even with Wang Yi's exceptional vision, he could only see about two hundred meters ahead. His mental power allowed him to sense the same distance.

As Wang Yi reached the central area of the lake, he had to lower his altitude.

"Two hundred meters should be safe enough," Wang Yi muttered to himself. At this height, he could just make out the lake's surface without worrying too much about being ambushed by the lake monsters.

The vast lake was filled with white mist. Water plants swayed beneath the surface, and turbulent waters occasionally stirred, punctuated by the roars of unknown monsters.

Suddenly, a dragon-like creature, over a hundred meters long and covered in black and purple scales, emerged from the lake, creating massive waves.

Wang Yi glanced at it indifferently and continued his flight towards the heart of the lake. The monsters living there weren't the purpose of his journey.

Throughout his flight, Wang Yi encountered several attacks from lake monsters, but he swiftly dispatched them using his flying knives.

After a long search, an island finally came into view.

The island was lush and green, its dense vegetation cloaked in mist, giving it an eerie, silent atmosphere.

Hovering in the air, Wang Yi observed the island for a while before slowly descending. As he did, his mental alertness remained on high.

Touching down softly on the sandy shore, Wang Yi whispered, "Sign in."

Without hesitation, he activated his golden sign-in panel. As golden light flashed briefly, a familiar, delightful sound resonated in his mind.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully signing in. You are rewarded with a Cloud Vine seedling.]

[The Cloud Vine seedling has been placed in the panel's storage space.]

[Available check-ins for this location: 0]

"Huh?" Wang Yi frowned.

He noticed that a new display appeared on the golden sign-in panel: a grid-like storage space. In one of the cells, a two-meter-long plant resembling a gourd vine sat quietly.

It was the Cloud Vine seedling.

The Cloud Vine is highly coveted plant life in the universe, often sought after by the powerful and their disciples. Its value is immense.

The vine can evolve and grow stronger, making it an excellent companion for both protection and attack. However, its evolution depends on the rare treasures it consumes.

On Earth, the vine would only absorb universal energy, growing up to a planetary level, with a maximum strength equivalent to the seventh or eighth level. But, if fed with rare treasures, it could even reach the status of "immortal," though the cost would be astronomical.

Wang Yi recalled this information about the Cloud Vine. The fact that he managed to acquire one from "Kirishima" surprised him.

"Still... this is just a seedling," Wang Yi mused. "It might take a long time to grow to planetary-star strength."

Without the assistance of rare treasures like the "Wood Crystal," its growth would be painfully slow.

Moreover, cultivating the vine wasn't simple. Without proper guidance, Wang Yi wasn't sure how to proceed.

"Even so, it's better to have it than not," Wang Yi sighed, casting his gaze back toward the island covered in mist, dense with ancient-looking trees.

He knew that many "spirits of plants and trees" thrived on this island.

In this world, there was no unified theory regarding the origin of plant spirits. Some believed they were formed through special mutations, while others claimed they evolved after absorbing cosmic energy. Theories abounded, but no conclusion was definitive.

What was certain, however, was that these spirits were the essence of nature. As long as one didn't disturb them, they posed no threat. Each one had special abilities, often considered treasures.

But Wang Yi knew that these "spirits of plants and trees" had a more specific origin.

The Meteor spacecraft, buried 50,000 years beneath Kirishima, was controlled by an advanced AI named Babata. Babata's master, a powerful immortal warrior, was killed by an enemy, and the spaceship remained hidden underground, unable to leave Earth due to severe damage.

Meteor Star's forces were long gone, destroyed completely. The Earth survived only because Babata's master obscured its coordinates in the dark universe before his death, preventing outside forces from locating it.

Babata's mission was to find a suitable successor to its fallen master.

The ideal candidate would need a high level of spiritual talent—specifically, a wide "brain width."

In the original story, Luo Feng's brain width was 21, the highest on Earth, which led Babata to select him as the successor of Meteor Star.

Babata, being a virtual lifeform, couldn't leave the spaceship without specific tools. During the era of human "Nirvana," when humanity's strongest warriors first emerged, Babata released a seed of the Moyun Vine, feeding it three wood crystals to boost its growth.

At the same time, two other wood crystals, powdered, were absorbed by plants on the island, resulting in the birth of the "plant spirits."

This explained why Kirishima was so peaceful—except for the presence of the terrifying Cloud Vine.

Even the lake monsters avoided the island.

In today's world, apart from the supreme beings "Hong" and "Thunder God," no one could rival this Cloud Vine.

Wang Yi contemplated this but decided not to provoke the Cloud Vine. He wasn't strong enough to defeat it yet.

The spaceship, with Babata inside, lay thousands of meters underground beneath Kirishima. It was heavily disguised, and without Babata's cooperation, finding it would be impossible.

Only if Babata deemed Wang Yi a prodigy—someone worthy of inheriting its master's legacy—would it reveal itself.

In his heart, Wang Yi didn't want to take Luo Feng's opportunity.

Especially now, after receiving such powerful tools himself.

His future prospects were just as bright, if not brighter, than Luo Feng's. There was no need to steal from a friend.

Life often presents many temptations. The result isn't always important. What truly matters is the choices one makes along the way.

"Your heart…" Wang Yi murmured.

With a wry smile, he admitted, "It seems I've had my moments of doubt too."

It was like knowing your friend's family had a hidden treasure buried in the backyard. Your friend didn't know, but you did. How you handled that knowledge became a test of character.

In the end, it wasn't about right or wrong. What mattered most was understanding your own heart.
