"Crestmont Family Chronicle"
The family chronicle of the Yan's family.
Cain tapped his head, "I've been so careless not to think of this. Some breeding methods could have been passed down from the Yan's ancestors. There must be records in the family chronicle."
Having a direction in mind, Cain was finally able to sleep peacefully.
On the fourth day after Yan left, he could return at any time, so the race against time had begun.
Early in the morning, Cain went to Yan's study. The "Family Chronicle" was locked in Yan's desk drawer, something he remembered. Ditto had already grown accustomed to unlocking the drawer.
Cain took out the "Crestmont Family Chronicle" and started browsing.
About an hour later.
Raikou came in, rubbing his head and mumbling, "What happened yesterday? I must have been too tired recently, even overslept this morning."
Seeing Cain sitting in Yan's place, Raikou was surprised.
"Why are you here today? I thought we had no clues," Raikou said nonchalantly.
Cain didn't even look at him and said, "study."
"What? You're interested in something other than your goal? I want to see what you're reading."
Raikou walked over and looked at the book Cain was reading. Waves of emotion rose in his heart, countless thoughts flooding his mind, his face turning green and purple.
Was this a coincidence, a premeditated plan, or...
Cain continued to read the book without lifting his head, knowing Raikou's expression without looking.
Raikou forced a smile and said, "It's rare that we have the same idea. Why don't we read it together?"
"Wait until I finish."
Cain remained expressionless. Two men huddled together reading a book? He couldn't accept such a scene.
Raikou's anger simmered, but he dared not act on it. He could only sit nearby and watch Cain leisurely flipping through the "Crestmont Family Chronicle."
The so-called "Crestmont Family Chronicle" was a record of the life events of each generation of the Yan family. To put it simply, most of it was mundane, with hardly anything interesting. The crucial parts could be spotted at a glance.
Cain took note of several useful pieces of information.
About 500 years ago, the prototype of the Gym had appeared, symbolizing the strongest in a city. Gyms were established to recruit disciples, similar to martial arts schools.
By chance, the First Crestmont obtained an ancient book and a mysterious stone, which documented the use and breeding methods of the Gengar family. After years of cultivation, he successfully bred a powerful Gengar. Under the influence of the mysterious stone, the Gengar's body changed and its power increased, becoming what is now known as Mega Gengar.
With the help of Mega Gengar, that ancestor dominated the Ecruteak City, established the Gym, and built an underground tomb in the shadow of the Bell Tower for his burial after death.
After his death, he passed on his Mega Gengar and ancient book to his son, who continued to dominate Ecruteak City.
There was no information on the Third Crestmont.
As for the Fourth, he was described as a talented and promising young man. He traveled to various regions early on, taming many powerful Pokémon. No longer relying on the Mega Gengar inherited from his ancestors, he managed to defeat his father and became a great hero in Ecruteak City.
After the Fourth Crestmont's death, his tomb was sealed, and it was guarded by several of his main Pokémon. The Mega Gengar and the ancient book disappeared without a trace.
The Fourth used his lifetime of traveling experiences to develop a set of ghost Pokémon breeding techniques. Afterward, the Yan family noticeably began to decline. However, they were still able to maintain their foothold in Ecruteak City, thanks to the breeding techniques left behind by the Fourth.
There was not much of value beyond that. At most, about 150 years ago, they became one of the first supporters of the Alliance as the highest ruling authority and one of the most trusted gyms in the Alliance.
After reading this, Cain handed the book to Raikou, knowing that he could not hide it and there was no need to keep it.
Although Cain had some guesses in his mind, he still needed Raikou's help. So, he gave him the book, hoping he could find some clues.
Now, the two were in the same boat, with the same goals but also restraining each other.
From the "Crestmont Family Chronicle," it could be concluded that the ancient book was sealed in the tomb by the Fourth ancestor.
But now, three problems were blocking Cain: First, the specific location of the tomb; the Bell Tower's shadowy direction was. Secondly, how to enter the tomb that Fourth ancestor had sealed, and most importantly, Fourth Crestmonts main Pokémon were guarding the tomb, and he would not be able to defeat them even if he entered.
Each of these three problems is an insurmountable obstacle right now. He really doesn't know how Yan's son was able to enter the tomb and obtain the Ancient Tome.
There is also a doubt as to why there is no information on Third ancestor and what outstanding contribution Fourth ancestor made to Ecruteak City to be called a "great hero."
Raikou also had a heavy expression after reading the document, sighing repeatedly.
"It's likely in the tomb," Raikou said.
"We don't have the ability to break in right now," Cain said, feeling helpless.
"We finally have a clue. I don't believe you'll just sit there and do nothing."
After dealing with Cain for such a long time, Raikou began to know Cain.
"Now the most important thing is to put things away and leave."
Cain put the "Crestmont Family Chronicle" back in its place and double-checked for any mistakes.
The two of them left the study and locked the door again.
"Now what should we do?" Raikou asked.
Cain knew very well that this was not something that could be achieved overnight. The most crucial thing at the moment was to improve his strength. With his current abilities, even if he could enter the tomb palace, it would be a dead end.
Five years, he gave himself five years.
Cain calculated in his heart that by then, both the Toxic Ariados and the Toxic Drapion should be well-trained. Together with his Gastly and Ditto, and with the help of Raikou, perhaps they could stand a chance.
The only thing he could do now was to find the exact location of the tomb palace and survey the surrounding environment. The first thing to do was to plan the escape route well, which was the experience he had gained from years of committing crimes.
In response to the Raikou's question, Cain said, "We need to find the exact location of the tomb palace."
After saying that, Cain left.
"Cain, aren't you going with me?" the Raikou asked.
Cain didn't pay any attention to him. Even finding the exact location of the tomb palace was not something that could be done immediately. Right now, he urgently needed to find out about something else.
"Cain, where are you going?" The Raikou followed Cain's footsteps and caught up.
"Why don't you go and explore the location of the tomb first?" Cain continued to walk forward.
Cain saw right through the Raikou's mindset. The tomb was a gloomy place, and the Raikou was just a ten-year-old child. How could he be asked to explore it alone? He probably didn't even have the courage to get close.
Caught off guard by Cain's sudden question, Raikou stuttered, "I'm worried about you, whether you'll do something behind my back. Don't forget that we are partners."
Cain continued walking towards the lecture hall.
