**Hua~**
A scroll automatically protected its master, and the bullet, crackling with a powerful electric arc, was suddenly blocked by a thin, shimmering shield.
"How dare you?" Seth's voice seethed with anger. "Openly provoking the Will family—are you serious, Alchemist?"
His tone was filled with contempt. They had traveled through countless cities from the capital all the way eastward, and in every one, the people, including city lords, had shown the Will family respect. Never before had they been treated this way.
**Bang!**
A second gunshot rang out, and the electric-charged bullet pierced through the ear hole of the orc, Magath, once more. Just as he was regaining his senses, his body stiffened again under the intense shock.
**Click~**
The bullet of the second shot collided with the first, and its power was far greater. A violent crack echoed as the electric arcs surged, shattering the shield.
Seth paused, momentarily stunned by the power of the alchemist's firearm. He quickly retrieved his staff, his magic surging as he conjured a protective hexagram in front of him just as the third shot rang out.
**Bang!**
**Crack~**
The bullet once again paralyzed Magath, its electrical current coursing through his body, and shattered both the shield and the hexagram with devastating force.
**Ding-ling-ling. Bang!**
The sound of bullets falling echoed through the shop as the gunshot rang out again, sending a chill down Seth's spine.
He was too late. There was no time for more magic; the alchemist's firearms were far too powerful. The fourth shot was imminent, and Seth couldn't block it.
Suddenly, with a loud noise, Garrett, who had been motionless, stepped forward, brandishing a massive axe.
With the rhythm broken, Magath, still suffering from the shock, dodged instantly, drawing his long sword as he glared at Bai Yi.
"Mr. Bai Yi, the Will family cannot die in this city," he stated, his tone growing more urgent. "This is the city lord's order."
Bai Yi held up his demon-hunting revolver and spoke coolly, "I have the right to shoot anyone attempting to commit a crime in my store. You are law enforcers, but right now you are assisting criminals. Do you want to be dismissed?"
Bai Yi's voice was calm but held an undercurrent of authority, and the two silver-ranked warriors hesitated.
The reason they respected Bai Yi wasn't just because he was an alchemist; it was because of his weapons and his influence. As long as an alchemist could create powerful weapons, their own strength couldn't be easily measured by level.
Bai Yi had contributed much to the Federation in the past six months, and Dongwu City took great pride in that. He was a treasure trove for the wealthy district, providing the best medical services and serving as their arms dealer.
Given that Bai Yi had such influence, the guards knew that dismissing him would be a serious loss. Even the gold-ranked city lord couldn't simply ignore Bai Yi's power.
"You will regret this. Provoking the Will family will be the worst decision of your life," Seth snarled, his anger reigniting as he gathered his magic.
The two orc warriors exchanged a glance, their uncertainty palpable. Seth clearly hadn't grasped the situation.
Bai Yi's eyes darkened, and just as he prepared to pull the trigger again, a shrill voice interrupted.
"Oh, my dear friend, what has so enraged you?"
Bai Yi paused for a moment, then turned toward the door. Standing there was a short figure, incongruous to the tension in the room.
The figure was barely 1.2 meters tall, with arms long enough to brush the ground and legs so short they seemed comically disproportionate to his body. His head, the same size as his shoulders, was adorned with two rows of burnt yellow teeth. This was Sabo, the city's quartermaster.
Bai Yi lowered the muzzle of his revolver slightly and smiled. "Nothing much. This wizard tried to harm my employee. You know the laws of Dongwu City—I have every right to shoot him."
Sabo gave a long, uncomfortable smile. "I'm sorry, my friend. This man is a friend of ours from Tobu City. You shouldn't hurt him."
**Buzz~**
A surge of magic suddenly erupted. Seth's eyes flashed with murderous intent, and he began to cast a curse.
"Oh, my friend, what are you doing?" Sabo extended his arms, and the curse bounced harmlessly off his body. Nothing happened.
Bai Yi watched in surprise—Sabo's resistance to magic had clearly improved. Seth, too, looked wary now. This city was clearly not like the others.
Calming himself, Seth spoke with forced calm. "The elf witnessed the Scarlet Cult committing a crime. You understand the severity of this."
Sabo's expression shifted slightly, and he glanced at Bai Yi before shrugging and stepping aside. Given their relationship, this was the best he could do.
A cold voice cut through the tension.
"Then what are you waiting for?"
With that, a pressure unlike anything before flooded the room. Magic began to concentrate at an alarming rate, and a young man clad in black robes entered the shop with an aloof air.
Sabo frowned but quickly regained his composure. "Mr. Ernado, why are you here? I'll take over the goods."
Seth's eyes widened in surprise, then quickly became humble. There was a strange duality in his demeanor—he looked down on everyone except the young man who had just arrived.
"Sir," Seth said respectfully, almost bowing. "I was about to inspect the elf's memories, but the alchemist stopped me."
Ernado's cold gaze shifted to Bai Yi, and a heavy pressure descended on the room.
"No one can stop the Will family from acting," Ernado declared, his tone flat.
At that moment, the shop's monitor displayed the information of the new arrival:
**[Name: Ernaldo Weir]
Race: Human
Occupation: Mage
Level: 46
Rank: Upper Silver
Danger value: 60%**
Bai Yi stood tall, a quiet defiance in his posture. "I know exactly what I'm doing: I'm shooting the criminal who tried to commit a crime in my store."
"Very courageous." Ernado remained unfazed. He could sense that Bai Yi had just broken through to the silver level, but the difference of fourteen levels was still enough to crush him.
Sabo, sensing the danger, retreated to the door, preparing for the worst.
**Buzz~**
Suddenly, a strange buzzing sound filled the air. The atmosphere shifted, and a sharp sense of danger gripped everyone.
A worker bee—one of Bai Yi's—flew to his shoulder.
Ernado's expression tightened as he quickly cast a protective magic shield, his eyes darting around the room. He could feel something was off.
At that moment, Bai Yi's shop walls began to shift, revealing energy guns concealed within hidden grooves, all aimed directly at Ernado.
A cold and manic presence emanated from the door on the left side of the counter. The aura was intense—comparable to Ernado's own, but with a faint weakness.
Ernado's confidence waned as he scanned the surroundings. If his perception was correct, that aura belonged to a peak Silver-level expert, but there was something strange about its power.
Bai Yi stood firm, his gaze unwavering. "In Dongwu City, no one touches my people."
