Chương 33: Great Harvest

He wanted nothing to do with anything related to evil gods, ancient deities, the abyss, or hell.

These were symbols of disaster and corruption—forces beyond his ability to resist.

"Don't worry, just get closer," Sabo's voice trembled, edged with a nervous urgency, as if he feared Bai Yi might claim the ominous black mass for himself.

Bai Yi hesitated, but reluctantly obeyed, stepping forward. As he did, green markings began to spread across his Silver Mage shield, hinting at imminent contamination.

When he drew near enough, a sudden dizziness washed over him. Though he didn't breathe, a foul stench assaulted his senses.

The nauseating smell flared briefly before the black mass clinging to the door vanished from sight.

But the green mist lingered, thick and sticky, clinging to the corridor's air.

Bai Yi shook his head. The player panel might show what had attacked him, but the BOSS panel was far more realistic, leaving out such minor details.

Hiss~

A faint noise echoed as the silver-level spell shield began to dissolve, its protective magic weakening.

Bai Yi's eyes widened in alarm. His [Mental Defense] perk activated, but even then, he could feel his mental energy being drained.

There was no time to waste. Bai Yi's eyes filled with concentrated mental power, and alchemical magic flowed from his body. He quickly manipulated several alchemical array symbols, and the door began to open.

"Next time you encounter something like this, just teleport yourself over to use it," he remarked coldly, his voice laced with irritation. Once the door had opened wide enough for him to slip through, he swiftly stepped sideways into the next room.

He quickly adjusted the door mechanism, and the entrance closed, sealing the green smoke out.

"Don't be so picky, my friend. A silver-level protective scroll can hold for a while, as long as the maker's magic level is over 40. It seems like you bought a counterfeit," Sabo's voice teased from the other side, now sounding smug.

Bai Yi couldn't help but feel a pang of exasperation. This scroll was lower silver level at best—how could it possibly be "level 40"?

He adjusted his glasses, cutting off the shared vision, and turned to survey the treasure vault of the Scarlet Sect.

His eyes widened in surprise. This place was far different from what he had expected.

What appeared before him was a massive altar, covered with various limbs and dismembered arms—some human, others orc, elf, and of various other races.

At the center of the altar lay a vast pool of blood, covering nearly 60% of the hall's area.

Occasionally, a bubble would rise from the still surface of the blood pool, and when it burst, it sent ripples outward, reminiscent of a volcanic crater.

Bai Yi removed his sunglasses, revealing his eyes which gleamed with an eerie blue light. He focused his mental power, scanning the area for hidden threats.

It seemed the only protection in this old lair was the magic on the door.

As a gold-level boss, this level of arrogance wasn't unexpected. After all, judging from the alchemical inscriptions on the door, others had likely visited this place frequently.

If there were any trap spells, they would be inconvenient to deal with now.

Having confirmed there was no immediate danger, Bai Yi approached the shelves lining the edge of the altar.

Aside from the blood pool and the dismembered limbs, the shelves seemed to hold the only valuables.

As he drew closer, a glint of light caught his eye.

On the shelves were fist-sized azure crystals that sparkled brilliantly. Just gazing at them sent a cool sensation through his soul.

His panel immediately began scanning the items, and the details appeared in his mind, confirming his suspicions.

**[Name: Soul Crystal Core (Small)]

Attributes: Material

Quality: ???

Introduction: A gift from the world—a treasure of the soul that exists between heaven and earth. Its energy is among the gentlest yet most powerful, capable of aligning with and amplifying any form of energy.

Price: 9999 gold coins]**

It was indeed the Soul Crystal Core!

Bai Yi counted the shelves and found a Soul Crystal Core on each of the eight shelves. The total value of these alone exceeded one million gold coins.

A truly incredible windfall!

As for the price, that was irrelevant; whoever attempted to sell them would be a fool.

Soul materials in this world came in various grades. The most common, soul essences, were almost worthless—only thirty gold coins for a small piece. Next came soul crystals, which were classified into small, medium, and large. A small soul crystal went for about three hundred gold coins, a medium one for two thousand, and a large one could fetch ten thousand gold coins. They were rare, but not impossible to find.

However, the Soul Crystal Core was a prized item coveted by legends. Its purity was unmatched by any living being, making it universally valuable and usable by any class or profession.

What made the Soul Crystal Core even more desirable was its ease of use—it could absorb magical energy to enhance one's soul power or be crafted into potions that could unlock the limits of both body and magic.

Because of this, most of these cores were hoarded in the Federation's treasury, available only to those who had earned great merit.

On the black market, each core could easily start at 100,000 gold coins—if one could even find it.

Just these eight Soul Crystal Cores were worth an extraordinary fortune. This trip had already yielded immense gains.

And that wasn't even counting the other materials, which also showed promise.

For example:

**[Name: Dragon Soul Grass]

Attributes: Material

Quality: Gold

Introduction: A new life born from the breath of a giant dragon, representing an indomitable will. Its essence seems to merge with the spirit of a dragon.

Price: 2,000 gold coins]**

In the world of magic, anything related to dragons was invaluable. Given the rarity of dragons nowadays, this material was highly sought after.

Bai Yi took his time, scanning the shelves carefully and ensuring no traps lay in wait. Once satisfied, he retrieved his potion box, pulled out over twenty vials, and slipped them into the pockets of his windbreaker. He summoned twenty-seven worker bees, and they quickly transformed into various tools to begin reshaping the box.

If the items had been anything else, he might have passed them on to Sabo. But the Soul Crystal Core was another matter entirely. Money made people greedy, and that dwarf was no exception. Sabo would likely try to take a cut, but that wasn't going to happen.

Bai Yi had already claimed 80% of the spoils for this operation. The Soul Crystal Core was too rare and valuable to share—though the other materials might be divided later.

"My friend, what's the hold-up? Why aren't you sending anything over?" Sabo's voice sounded strange, as if he were trying to confirm something.

"Oh, nothing. I'm just securing the Soul Crystal Core for now," Bai Yi answered nonchalantly.

"Soul Crystal Core?" Sabo's voice suddenly changed, his tone turning excited. "My respected and friendly friend…"

Bai Yi cut him off sharply. "The Soul Crystal Core belongs to me. The other 40% and 60% are mine as well."

Sabo: "That…"

Bai Yi interrupted again, his voice firm. "No room for negotiation."

Sabo: …
