Chương 125: Divine Evil

However, the voices on the Internet could not dampen the prosperity of Dongwu City. Within just five days, arenas sprang up across the city, and officials from the Ministry of Finance found themselves so overwhelmed they wished they could clone themselves.

The quartermaster faced a similar frenzy. Statistics on soldiers, competition dynamics, the number of elite troops, and the reform processes all required close collaboration between the quartermaster and the legion's high command. The discrepancies in soldiers' combat effectiveness were stark, especially in the early stages. Could a level 16 lower bronze soldier really defeat a level 17 middle soldier? Or could a level 23 middle soldier be bested by a level 24 upper soldier?

As tensions mounted within the legion, battles for rank were imminent. Even the reformed units, which could only be accessed when potential reached its peak, would have to fight for their positions.

With a surge of extraordinary individuals flooding into Dongwu City, its vibrancy reached new heights. Accommodation in the inner city quickly filled up, pushing those without homes to seek refuge in the quieter outer city, where more houses were available. Over time, even this outer area buzzed with activity, creating a stark contrast between the bustling extraordinary crowd and the numb, weary civilians.

Yet, the envy and resentment simmering in the eyes of the civilians aligned perfectly with the Federation's intentions. As the extraordinary population grew, so did disorder. Shouts and curses echoed throughout both the inner and outer cities, leading to frequent skirmishes. The newly bolstered law enforcement team could only watch passively; as long as no one died, it wasn't deemed a serious crime, and they could choose whether or not to intervene. After all, the money spent on medical care by the injured contributed to the city's income.

Moreover, when orcs and dwarves got too carried away in their fights and damaged public property, they were swiftly conscripted for mining duties to pay off their debts, closely monitored by the Ministry of Mineral Resources.

On the inner city wall, Eric and Heddinger stood beside the sleeping dragon, surveying the lively scene below. Joy radiated from their aged faces, their once-dulled eyes now sparkling with hope.

"Vitality, my old friend! I see real vitality!" Heddinger exclaimed, excitement creeping into his voice.

"Indeed! The youth are our future. The parliament has grown stale, and the city lord is corrupt. It's time for a new generation of leaders. Look, hope is on the horizon," Eric replied, his spirits lifted.

"But why are those two golds taking so long?" Heddinger mused, glancing at the clock. "It's already the seventh day, isn't it?"

"I can't speak for the elves, but what would you do in their place?" Eric smiled knowingly.

Just as Heddinger was about to respond, he felt a familiar presence approaching. "Here they come," he said, pointing toward the horizon.

A spaceship sped toward the city, emblazoned with the tiger head emblem of the Lot family. With a rumble, it hovered above Dongwu City, and out stepped an old woman alongside a green-haired elven woman.

As the spaceship ascended, blue flames erupted from its engines, propelling it away from the city. Elsa and Mina gazed down at the bustling streets of Dongwu City, their expressions a mix of astonishment and curiosity. When they spotted Heddinger and Eric on the wall, they offered respectful bows.

"Let's not stand on ceremony. We have disciples to meet," Heddinger said, smiling as a rift in space opened, enveloping the four of them in powerful magic and transporting them to Shengwu Street in the inner city.

The streets were alive with extraordinary beings, and as the four appeared, the crowd instinctively parted to make way for them, drawn by their formidable presence.

At the heart of this energy stood Dawn Pharmacy, where Irene was tirelessly tending to patients. Her clinic operated from six in the morning until ten at night, a flurry of activity fueled by the increasing demand for medical care among the extraordinary populace. Conflicts had become a daily occurrence, and the clinic was perpetually filled, especially with goblins, dwarves, and orcs seeking treatment.

The queue was long, and as an orc nervously placed a silver coin in the basket at the divination table, he looked up at Luo Ning, the fortune teller. "Do you think I have a chance to join the Wucheng Army?" he asked, hope glimmering in his eyes.

Luo Ning sighed, weary of the same question. "No," she replied gently.

The orc's face fell, and anger flickered in his eyes as he raised a hand to slam the table, cursing her skills. But just then, he sensed a lethal threat; a gun barrel glinted menacingly from the wall, aimed directly at him. He lowered his hand and stormed off in embarrassment.

Next in line, a goblin placed all his silver coins into the nearly full basket. "Um, I want to ask about the talent of my unborn child," he said, grinning.

Luo Ning couldn't help but feel exasperated. "You're infertile but have many children," she replied, her tone flat.

The pharmacy fell silent, all eyes turning toward the goblin, who was now green with shame. "Liar! You're a damn liar!" he shouted, his voice echoing as he stormed out.

Laughter erupted among the waiting patients, the tension in the air dissipating momentarily. Just then, a gentle energy filled the room, and the three elders and one young man entered Dawn Pharmacy. With a wave of their hands, they lifted the remaining customers and ushered them outside.

"Friends, Dawn Pharmacy is temporarily closed for a private meeting," an elderly voice announced warmly.

As the door shut, the crowd exchanged puzzled glances but quietly dispersed, recognizing the authority of the newcomers. In Dongwu City, challenging the strong was a dangerous game; even the most obstinate orc or dwarf would think twice before provoking a formidable presence.

Irene and Luo Ning exchanged glances, unsure of the newcomers' intentions. Luo Ning, sensing no malice, gathered her courage and asked, "Um... are you here to see the boss?"

Elsa's face brightened with a warm smile as she recognized the friendly aura emanating from Luo Ning. "You must be Luo Ning! Bai Yi sent me. From now on, I'll be teaching you the art of divination."

Stunned, Luo Ning recalled Bai Yi's words from a week prior. "But the boss said he wouldn't send me away. I like it here."

"Don't worry! I'll be your master, and you can stay wherever you wish. I'll come to you," Elsa reassured her.

Relief washed over Luo Ning, and she called out sweetly, "Master!"

Elsa's heart melted at the title. She quickly rummaged through her space ring and produced a gift for Luo Ning. "Here, this is a gift from your Master. It contains my knowledge and protective scrolls. Remember, for a fortune teller, survival is key. Now, let's explore your potential!"

Ignoring the surprised gazes of the other two gold-level figures, Elsa took Luo Ning's hand and led her away, exuberant as a mother hen.

"But my crystal ball…" Luo Ning hesitated, glancing back at the item she treasured.

"Master has something even better prepared for you," Elsa replied. "Just leave it for now. I promise to return it to you later."

Luo Ning added, "I need to let my boss know where I am. He'll worry if he can't find me."

"That's fine; just leave a message on your phone. He'll see it when he's ready," Elsa assured her.

As the door to Dawn Pharmacy closed again, Eric and Heddinger exchanged bemused glances. "Is this really the Federation's top fortune teller?" Heddinger mused, noticing her newfound humility.

Irene felt a pang of jealousy, redirecting her gaze to Mina, the second-ranked life priest. Despite her frustration, she recognized the importance of nurturing talent.

"Come with me, child," Mina said gently, motioning for Irene to follow. "I need to assess your potential."

Irene's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Are you my master?" she asked eagerly.

Mina smiled softly, sensing the girl's enthusiasm. "Yes, but first, I need to determine your specific talents before I can guide you properly."

"Thank you, Master!" Irene beamed, gathering her silver coins before following Mina out.

As they passed Eric and Heddinger, Irene greeted them politely, and the pair exchanged knowing smiles. The transformation taking place in Tobu City was precisely what they had hoped for.

Meanwhile, in the lab, Bai Yi was busy creating over 700,000 advanced magnetic mechanical bodies, replenishing his stock of gold-eating insects. A surge of energy coursed through him as a notification lit up his panel.

[You created a gold-eating bug. Experience points +1. Level up! You are now level 53.]

Bai Yi exhaled deeply, relieved. The higher levels made gaining experience increasingly challenging; he had exhausted the potential of creating gold-eating bugs and mechanical bodies. For a gold-level alchemist, manufacturing micro-machines was a breeze, far surpassing the capabilities of a silver-level practitioner.

With the previous count of gold-eating bugs at over 200 million, he now had an additional 300 million, bringing the total to 500 million. This vast number would be a formidable asset in combat—assuming he didn't resort to self-destructive tactics against ancient gods.

He checked his dark side information:

Comment: He actually hunted a god! Absorbing divine blood has led to an evolution; perhaps it shouldn't be called a living being—let's call it: God's Evil!

Bai Yi was taken aback by the analysis. The term "God's Evil" resonated with him—it felt all too familiar, as if pulled from a pilot film.
