As the Ghost and King Reesharon made their way to the streets of New Ottawa, the sounds of voices, coins clattering and boxes moving filled the air. As they walked they passed the New Chalet Tavern and Breakfast. Smells of fresh food and strong ale filled their nostrils as if it was calling to them.
As they continued over to Noblemen Pat's district, the clanging of the CIMCO Ironworks drown out the voices and sounds of the marketplace. As the two walked around, Noblemen Pat joined them, explaining how CIMCO was making Iron for the city to use as they needed it.
Also Ghost, when you have time swing by Libby-Owens II, someone is looking for you.
Will do! Thank you!
As they continued, Noblemen Pat showed off how the remade, Peltier Glass was performing. As glass was being blown, many of the glassblowers had their talents on display. Vases, plates, windows and more were on display for people to buy and view.
As they left Pat's district, they arrived in Brittany's district. There, Brittany walked them through how medicines, potions, medical care and more were conducted. Scholars and Pharmacists from Ashfeld were assisting in teaching the New Ottawan Doctors and Medical Students how to make potions and how to make cure for illnesses not known to the New Ottawans. The Elven King was fascinated by the amount of medicines the hospital had made and how many cures were available to the public.
After they left Brittany's district, they arrived at Kenji's district. Shops were alive and busy, full of customers buying good made locally in New Ottawa. Kenji escorted them and showed them all of the products made in the city. From armors and weapons, to household items such as iceboxes and furniture. Reesharon marveled at the many things these magicless humans were able to create. Reesharon purchased a New Ottawan Medallion, a souvenir of his trip.
After they'd left Kenji's district, they returned to the Ghost's district. Most of what the Ghost governed were people, farms and the military base. As the approached the center of the Southern district, the statue of Patricia May was being cleaned and polished by a few citizens.
Who was she?
That was Patricia May. My Grandma, a strong community pillar before she passed away.
I am sorry for your loss.
Things aren't the same without her, but Grandpa and I manage just fine.
Your Grandfather is here?
Yes, he survived just as much as we all have. He lead us here, then turned things over to me once things left the realm of his experience.
Truly, you and your people are remarkable!
We just keep pushing, no matter the trial, trouble or enemy, we keep going, fighting to see our futures, dreams and more all come to fruition.
As the two reached the military base, Inferno greeted them and had his troops present themselves for inspection. King Reesharon was shocked to see the armor they wore. it was nothing like the typical armor of this world that he was used to seeing humans wear. Juno and Constitution made an appearance before the Ghost and King Reesharon returned to guest villa.
I'm glad you and your people found a place to call home.
Agreed. We've earned this, and we'll keep working to make it our home. If you need anything, the guards can reach me at anytime, if not, I'll meet you for breakfast tomorrow.
Sounds like a plan.
As the Ghost left, he began making his way over to Libby-Owens II. Once he arrived, he opened the door and was greeted by a familiar face.
Ghost! How's it hanging?
Can't complain Mr. Krug. Tell me, what did you want me to see?
I noticed you've been walking around a lot, and seeing as horses are the hot, rich commodity right now, I thought I'd give you something to help sell people on that Noble title.
Oh yea? What's that?
Mr. Krug removed a tarp revealing a spearmint green, model t ford, however, this wasn't a regular model t, this was the Autowa car, one of 10 cars made by the original Libby-Owens back in the day.
Thought the prominent New Ottawa Noblemen could use a proper mode of transportation that helped represent the city.
Mr. Krug, you never cease to amaze me! How'd you save this thing?
Your pal, Pat, said if I had something cool, I'd be able to help you by making a contribution. I can't promise I'll have enough model t parts to give them out to everyone in New Ottawa, but I have enough to give the districts for just those of Nobility. Although, the Autowa is yours. We're cousins remember? Family helps family.
The Ghost shook Mr. Krug's hand before hopping into the seat of the Autowa. Mr. Krug filled the car up on gasoline he'd refined himself.
This stuff is closer to kerosene, but it'll run the motor.
How much of it do you have?
Enough to keep four cars running for a year and then some. I'll keep making the stuff, although, when you see the Prince again, see if you can secure a shipment of their volatile mineral sludge. That's the secret to this kerosene stuff.
Thanks again John, I can't express how much I appreciate this.
