Outside Broly's mind.
7 Days till engagement with the Flood
The Justice League was running helter-skelter all over the planet doing everything they could to get ready for their trip to Thanagarian space and the suspected Flood location.
Batman returned to his Batcave after he dropped Broly off at the fortress.
Superman went to speak with Louis and tell his bosses that he would be away for an extended period.
The Flash went to Starlabs and explained what he could of the situation before he ran to find the suspected locations of the prospective League members.
Hawkgirl after going to her room on the watchtower compiled a data chip for Batman on everything she could share about the Thanagarians.
Green Lantern has already made it to the Green Lantern Corps and had asked for a chance to talk to the elders.
Martian Manhunter was going through the Leagues computers to search for viable League future members. He was having little luck due to the lack of communication he could have with the people in question. J'onn would have to ask Flash to help him, once his objective was done.
…
7 Days till engagement with the Flood.
Wonder Woman had returned to Themyscira to explain her absence as well as give warning to her people as well as telling the gods what she had learned. Only the gods would be able to give her sound advice on what to do. Maybe one of them would also be able to calm her mind over Broly's appearance as well as him being her 'biological child'.
Even now she did not know what to do after getting the message from J'onn. She was slightly shocked when she learned that Thanagar was planning an invasion. All the same because of Hawkgirl she was able to prevent it form happening. Or at least extend the time Earth had.
Wonder Woman was lost. She had never really expected to have a child so soon. Until she found a worthy man to help her bear a child, she was staying away from men. Since WWI she had kept herself away from any kind of conflict. She had only come out again when the supervillains appeared after Superman appeared and had his fight with Zod who had appeared and started their terraforming of the planet.
Without her aid it was unlikely that any of the heroes would have been able to defeat the aliens. Her powers as well as her equipment kept her safe from almost all of their weapons and attacks. This kept the heroes from being over run at multiple points during the heroes' war on the Imperium. Since then she had been with the Justice League fighting against corruption and super-villains and their schemes.
Wonder Woman in her pondering had already reached her home and floated to the stone pier. Two amazons who held spears were standing at attention meet her. As she stepped closer the amazons saluted with fists to their hearts and after she returned the salute they returned to their vigil.
Dianna the amazon princess had returned to her homeland.
Quickly Dianna went to find her mother to being her first steps in getting the Amazons and the gods ready for a war in the future that will determine the fate of the galaxy if not the universe. Breathing out a sigh Dianna reached the throne room. There she was met by larger number of amazons standing guard over the throne room. On the throne that had engravings depicting the history of the gods and their fight with the titans and the birth of humanity.
Her mother Hippolyta the queen of the amazons sat on that throne. She was speaking to a few of her advisors but when Dianna entered she asked them to leave the throne room as she stood. Hippolyta walked down the dais to meet her daughter. When they reached each other Hippolyta embraced Dianna in a hug.
"Welcome back my daughter. It has been too long. How have you faired in the outside world? Have you met a man to call your own yet? How has this League that you joined been working?" Hippolyta asked Dianna as she held her daughter at arms length.
"I am well mother. I have prospered in the outside world. It has been an eye opening experience. The world is unlike anything you could believe mother. The men have created technologies that compare to magic in its complexity and power. And no I have not found a proper man yet. The League has been a great thing to be a part of. It is like working with the demi-gods of old keeping the evils of the world in check. I love it truly. I could not ask for a better calling." Dianna expressed to her mother.
"Come let us go to my room so that I might hear of your adventures." Hippolyta told her daughter.
The two left the throne room. Entering her room Hippolyta called for food and wine from one of the amazons standing guard. They saluted and headed out to get food and wine for the royal family. The two sat at one of the tables near a open balcony where they could look over the whole of Themyscira. Hippolyta sighed as she sat in her chair, "Gods this is so much more comfortable than that lousy throne. Much more cushion to sit on."
"You know all you have to do is ask and they will add more cushion to the chair so that it is not as uncomfortable for you." Dianna answered smiling as she repeated the small argument that they had been having for nearly two centuries.
"Yes but then all the amazons would question me as the queen since I would use my power for something so simple." Hippolyta said.
They both laughed at the joke they had kept going for so long.
"So what bring you back home? You seem distracted by something. Speak to me Dianna." Hippolyta said softly.
Taking in a deep breath Dianna was about to begin to explain when a knock came from the door. Two amazons bringing platters of food walked in and placed the food on the table. Once that was done they bowed and left. Dianna saw the guards standing at the entrance of the room and gave her mother a look.
Raising a brow Hippolyta called out to the guards dismissing them from the room until they had finished their meal as well as their talk.
Now knowing they were as alone as they could be, Dianna began to explain the threat she and the others of the League would soon go to face. As she explained Dianna emphasized the need for the amazons to start preparing. Even if they detested technology they would need to embrace it, or at least some of it, if they wished to survive the coming war. Dianna impressed upon her mother the importance of these actions. If they did not prepare properly then it was likely that they, along with the world of man, they would find themselves fodder for this enemy.
After she explained her position and the need for preparations Dianna went silent waiting for her mother to understand everything that was explained to her. As much as Dianna would like to implement these plans she could not, not as the princess of the amazons. Only her mother could get the amazons ready for the future war.
Hippolyta sat staring off into the distance and was lost in thought over everything she had just learned. "It seems to me that you will need to speak to the gods about this coming threat."
"I did plan to go speak with the gods of this threat. I only came to you so you would know the importance of the threat I go to face. Should the worst happen…" Dianna said with fearful eyes.
"Don't speak of such things. If you request it, after you explain the situation, I am sure that Hephaestus would give you an armor that would properly protect you from this enemy. I believe the words you speak, so I will go with you to speak with the gods as well. If I gain their backing then none of the amazons will question this order of mine. Even if it will lead to a questioning of our culture, survival is of the utmost importance. We must adapt to the times and face this enemy. But it will only be in our own way. Not the ways of man. With Hephaestus's aid we will gain technology unlike what the men of the outside world will have. I will order the magicians to begin to place defensive wards all over the island. Let us go to the Temple of the gods and speak. Hopefully they will understand this threat we face." Hippolyta said as she stood and leading Dianna walked to the high temple behind the palace.
"Understood mother. Thank you." Dianna said.
The temple behind the palace was designed after the pantheon in Greece. It was the original design that was actually far older than the one in Greece. Within there stood twelve stone thrones with each god present. The statues were in the likeness of the Gods and power rolled off of these statues.
The royal family bowed at the feet of the stone thrones and waited to be acknowledged. After a few moments the power in the Pantheon rose as the twelve statues came to life. Each of the gods and goddesses turned their heads to look upon Dianna and Hippolyta.
"Welcome daughters. What brings you here at this late hour?" Athena asked the two amazons.
"I bring dire news from the world of man." Dianna said as she gave the same explanation as she had her mother.
The gods listened to Dianna's explanation. All the while Athena looked upon Dianna and saw the turmoil present in her mind. She wondered what could bring such dismay and confusion to the greatest of amazons. She would ask after she heard the rest of Dianna's warning.
"So I request the gods to help the amazons in this time of need. Let us prepare for the coming war. I have seen the threat. It is one that the humans and even you, the gods, have never seen. We must prepare." Dianna said adamantly.
After her conclusion the gods turned their heads to one another. They communicated silently and after a few minutes of arguing came to a decision.
"Dianna you say that you have seen the threat what do you mean?" Hera asked.
"The enemy was shown to me in a vision by a god like being who came to give us warnings of the coming threat." Dianna explained as well as she could without acknowledging who or where this being came from.
"May I see the threat you speak of so that I may understand? Will you allow me to see into your mind?" Athena asked.
Dianna froze when she heard this and was at a loss of what to do. If Athena read her mind then she would find out about Broly. If she did not the gods would not guide the amazons or support them in this desperate time. Struggling over the decision Dianna could not come up with a right answer.
Seeing Dianna's reluctance the gods were surprised. Dianna would never keep important information from them. What would cause her to hesitate?
Hippolyta also saw the moment Dianna froze and was shocked at the indecision she saw on her daughters face. What could keep her from sharing the information she had brought to them and so adamantly endorsed?
Dianna not seeing another option looked up to Athena and said, "Yes, my goddess." Whereupon she bowed her head and opened her mind to her goddess.
Athena was intrigued at Dianna's reaction and delicately entered her favorite child's mind. She examined the past day's events and came to the realization of Dianna's reluctance to share her mind. Forgoing exploring the appearance of Broly, Athena examined the said information on the Flood as Dianna called them. When Athena got to the point where Dianna met the A.I. present in Broly's mind she felt a power similar to hers but so much more at the same time. She was looking at the A.I. and was shocked to realize the A.I. was staring at Athena not Dianna at that time. It was as if she knew Dianna would speak to the gods and share what she experienced with them.
The A.I. bowed her head and it was at this point that Athena was given everything that the A.I. had on the Flood. This information was far more than Dianna had glimpsed. It was like a data package that was coded to only one user and the user in this instance was Athena, the goddess of wisdom and battle. The only one to truly understand the gravity of the threat the Flood has upon the Earth, the galaxy and the universe.
Athena was shocked to see a being of such might here on Earth, but she quickly over came her shock and broke down the information till she had a full understanding. Athena upon seeing everything she could extract from Dianna's mind. Once Athena was back in the real world she quicker than lightning shared the relevant information to the other gods. They were all shocked at the information given to them. They all pondered and came to the realization that Dianna was in the right. She knew the threat and came to the gods for their support.
"We have understood the threat that this Flood has upon all biological life on Earth as well as the galaxy. With this understanding we will start preparing for the future war. Hippolyta you will prepare the amazons for the future war. Hephaestus will help your most technologically capable amazons prepare you for the coming threat. We will be creating weapons as well as magical nodes to help with the future war. But you must prepare the amazons for this future trial as they are likely to face this enemy along side the men of the outside world. This is a threat to all living biological life on the planet as well as the wider universe. The amazons will play a major role in the future, prepare them for that. Dianna will lead the legions to this enemy when it appears again." Zeus gave his orders to Hippolyta. He lifted his stone hand and from it a scroll filled with the powers of the gods floated down to levitate in front of the Amazonian Queen.
"Thank you my gods. I will start this immediately." Hippolyta said as she bowed and stood grabbing the scroll filled with the orders of the gods. She turned and left to begin the preparations for the war for the future of all life on Earth and the galaxy.
"Dianna I will create you an armor that will allow you to face this flood without worry. I will finish it before you leave on your mission to face this threat. Just sit tight. I will allow you to show the might of Olympus to this Flood. They shall fear you." Hephaestus said to Dianna.
"Understood Lord Hephaestus. I thank you for your consideration." Dianna said.
"Dianna wait here I wish to speak with you alone." Athena said as the other gods left to begin their own preparations.
"Of course my goddess." Dianna who had stood knelt to the ground again.
After making sure that Hippolyta left as well as the other gods Athena began to speak, "I saw what it was that leaves you so confused and lost my child."
Dianna bowed her head even lower at this statement. She knew that this would come up but she was not prepared for it. Even now her mind was tearing itself apart in her worry.
"I see the war you wage in your heart and mind my child. I ask you, why do you feel this way?" Athena asked.
"I…I am not sure what to do my goddess. My maternal side is going haywire as I wish to claim him as mine, but my thinking side is lost as what to feel as he was not of my creation but only a part of my DNA. I feel connected while also disconnected from him. I am unsure how I should feel. He was created to be a weapon. He is also such a child that I can see past this. The fact that he was not my own child is what hurts and scares me the most. Can I care for him as I would my own child? Or will he only be the child created from my DNA and not my true child? I am just not sure what to feel or how to act." Dianna opened her heart to Athena.
After a few moments of silence Athena spoke once more, "Though I do not truly understand your plight I can understand the situation that the child feels. As you know in the myths I was created from my father's mind. When he was thinking to hard on battles and strategies and the wisdom to use them I popped out of his head. It was from that point everything in Olympus fell apart. Haha, Hera still blames me for being born. She says that as soon as I was born all the wisdom, battle prowess and strategy left Zeus. She believes this is the reason he slept around so much. He lost the wisdom to listen to his wife."
Dianna was shocked to hear this. Though she knew the myth she did not know anything beside it. To hear Athena speak of it so was unbelievable. She was seeing a side of the gods she had not even considered.
"Oh don't look so shocked. It is the way of things. Men are not as capable as women when it comes to strategies or wisdom. They fail in that respect and that is why women are there to lead them on the right path. What I was originally trying to say was that it does not matter how you are brought into this world. All that matters is the family that you have with you. So if you wish to claim this child then do so. No one will stop you. As much claim as this Superman may have on him a mother's claim is always stronger. Should you care for him do so with everything you have because if what you and I understood he will become one of the most powerful beings on this planet if not further. Hippolyta will have some trouble coming to terms with the child but you will have to stand firm to not allow her words or actions to sway you." Athena said to Dianna.
After a moment of thought Dianna's heart and mind cleared. "I understand my goddess I will claim him as my heart wants. He will become my first child even if he is not of normal birth. Thank you my goddess for helping me to clear the confusion clouding my mind and heart."
"Good as you will need a clear mind and heart to fight this battle. Go prepare and know the gods approve of your actions and give you our blessings." Athena said as she left the statue to return to Mount Olympus.
Dianna bowed once more before the thrones of the gods after which she turned and left the Pantheon. She had to return to the League and help the others prepare. Dianna knew her mother had much to prepare for so she started flying towards the watchtower. Once she returned she would claim Broly as her own. She wondered if Superman was thinking the same thing or not.
From that thought Dianna thought about just raising Broly with the rest of the League. Would he be happy to have such an extended family?
Dianna smiled at the thought and came to the conclusion, yes. Yes he would be happy to have such a crazy family. She could not explain how she knew, only, maybe, it was her mother's intuition. Dianna laughed joyfully as she raced to the watchtower.
