50% Soul Land 3: Dagger God Douluo / Chapter 6: First Actual Class

Chương 6: First Actual Class

1st Person POV:

I got woken up by that stupid fucking alarm clock. Again. How nice. Wulin and I quickly did our daily routines before rushing over to Class 5 along with our cannon-fodder roommates. Our teacher brought us outside to the sports fields before speaking.

"Today's lesson is... dueling! All of you require combat experience, and fights are the best way to get it. The first match is Tang Wulin vs Zhou Zhangxi!"

HOLY SHIT! MY WISH CAME TRUE! We're actually doing spars! Fuck yeah! After inwardly rejoicing for a few seconds, I watched Wulin absolutely bone our cannon fodder roommate with zero lube. I swear he looked like Saitama for a second, doing that one-punch thing. The teacher quickly called the match, causing me to shiver in anticipation for my fight. Even though it was barely seconds in reality, it felt like ages before my name was called.

It seems I was going up against my other roommate. He seemed pretty fodder-like, but even being a dragon, I'd use all my strength to crush an ant. Well, maybe not all the time. But a lot of the time. Pretty inefficient, but who cares? It's fun.

The teacher called out the start of the match, causing the cannon-fodder to bring out his spirit in an attempt to struggle. I gave him a feral grin, before using [Soru] to instantly appear right in front of him. Then, I hit him with a [Baek Rok], sending him flying into the sky. He seemed to be already knocked out, causing him to fly through the air in a lying down position, but you can never be sure. So, naturally, I jumped high in the air, before using [Fangs], smashing both of my elbows down to his stomach, and burying him in the ground.

He was naturally knocked unconscious, causing the teacher to call the match. Even though I expected it, I was quite disappointed by how weak he was, so I didn't even protest when the teacher told me to not be so 'brutal' to my other opponents. So, from there, I one-shotted everyone using a combination of [Soru] and [Arang], an elbow strike to the stomach. Finally, it was the semi-finals. Wulin won against his opponent easily, and I was finally up against our teacher, Wu Zhangkong

[A/N: This is different from canon, where Wu Zhangkong only had Xie Xie take one of his attacks. He decided to test him in my story, because he was more interested in seeing Xie Xie's fights. That's because he saw Xie Xie using Soru, and his other techniques, causing him to be more curious about him than in canon.]

Of course, I wasn't scared, but instead excited as fuck! He took his belt off, injecting it with spirit power and using it like a sword. Since I knew he was so far above me in pure power, I decided to use a different tactic to create an opening.

I used [Rhythm Echo], creating a shit ton of afterimages, and confusing our teacher due to the fact that there was no spirit power involved. After a while, I was able to find an opening, using [Soru] to dash straight at him. However, my [Observation Haki] immediately alerted me to something wrong, allowing me to use a combination of my [Feline Style] and a [Nigawa Kick], allowing me to backflip away while kicking my teacher in the face.

Wu Zhangkong's hit was way too close for comfort. I could tell even without my [Observation Haki] that if I were hit by it full force, I would for sure die. But even after avoiding that hit, I wasn't scared. In fact, I was thrilled! A battle where one hit could mean your demise. A battle where the slightest mistake could cause your defeat. Those are the most fun battles!

Breathing heavily, I recuperated my strength for a moment. I stared at my teacher, gauging his reaction, before giving him a large grin. Rushing in at full speed, I tried to use [Bakedu] to send a full-power flying kick at my teacher's face.

Unfazed by it, he blocked it with his belt, before sending a powerful horizontal swing right at me. Still in the air, I used my uncanny flexibility cultivated by the [Feline Style] to arch my back and avoid it. Coming at the ground face first, I reached out one of my hands to plant on the ground, spinning, and using the momentum from the spin to send a [Arnament: Hardening] enforced [Hwechook] at his arm.

As usual, it did nothing, just leading him to block and counter with another swing. I knew that if he were to go all out seriously, he would easily be able to hit me, but even so, I tried to dodge. I pushed off of the hand still planted on the ground, front flipping to get behind my teacher. However, it seemed that he decided to end the fight there, as he turned, sending a powerful swing straight at my head. My body involuntary froze up, allowing myself to get hit, sending me tumbling across the ground.

That was the first time I ever felt it. The fear of death. And let me tell you, it was horrible. While I always loved a high stakes and intense battle, the feeling of powerlessness from facing someone that much stronger than you is cripplingly demoralizing for most people. But I didn't let that get me down. I wasn't demoralized at all. It was the opposite. That feeling of powerlessness just strengthened my resolve so that one day I could be strong enough to never feel that again.

Thankfully, while the swing from the belt did give me a feeling of death, in truth, it was relatively harmless. My teacher, Wu Zhangkong, would never send a lethal attack at one of his students. Seeing me sitting on the ground, trembling, he spoke. "Let's stop there. That was a good performance. Those were quite the peculiar moves. It seems you have some combat experience. Since the person you lost to was me, you'll still be advancing to fight Tang Wulin in the finals."

However, he was wrong about why I was trembling. It was from excitement! Seeing that I was still unresponsive, he opened his mouth to speak once again, before stopping once again when I broke out into a wide grin and exclaimed, "That was the most fun I've had in ages! Hey, we should fight again sometime! That was the most exciting battle I've ever had!" He just looked at me weirdly once again and sent me to take my position across from Wulin.

[A/N: The Xie Xie vs Wulin battle will also play out different from canon at the start because they didn't fight on the sports field resulting in Wulin's scales appearing. This will result in a change in mentality for both of them compared to the Xie Xie vs Wulin fight in canon.]

"The last round, Xie Xie vs Tang Wulin! Begin!" As soon as he announced the start of the match, Wulin activated his spirit soul, causing a white ring to appear as he weaved a trap using the Bluesilver Grass. He tried snaring me multiple times, but I was able to easily dodge it using a combination of [Observation Haki] and [Feline Style]. On top of that, if I were to ever be caught in a bad spot, I could use [Soru] to get out of it.

I activated my spirit soul, before using [Duplication] to send volleys of weak golden daggers at Wulin to seemingly probe his capabilities. However, just as he seemed to have deflected them all with his hammers, a purple dagger came straight at his face, causing Wulin to dodge hastily, putting him off balance. Of course, the reason he didn't see the dagger until the end was due to [Misdirection]. I drew his attention to the shiny golden dagger, before hiding the purple dagger within the volley. The dagger's invisible blade made it even harder to notice.

Explaining my battle tactics aside, I quickly rushed in using [Soru] and stabbed forward, intending to end this battle in one shot. Surprisingly, the dagger was deflected by Wulin's hammer. Caught off guard by the sudden counter, as well as the surprising strength, I stumbled a bit, caught off balance. Wulin used the opportunity to bring his hammer down. I narrowly avoided it by planting my hands on the ground and pushing off, causing the hammer to miss, and hit the ground. As I backed off to look for an opening, I managed to see the ground where the hammer hit.

It was completely fractured and broken. If I were to be hit with that without any protection, that would have been my bones. Finally feeling a bit of pressure, I felt a familiar thrill. Unknowingly, I had a downright feral grin on my face. However, just because I wanted to savor the battle didn't mean that I wouldn't go all out.

I once again used [Rhythm Echo], confusing Wulin as to which afterimage was the real me. He activated his Bluesilver Grass, causing tendrils of thick grass to come at each different afterimage. One of them managed to lock onto me, causing me to slice it, not quite cutting it in two, but draining Wulin of a significant amount of spirit power. Seeing an opportune time to strike, I quickly used [Soru], before pricking him with my dagger, officially ending the match.

Or so I thought. My dagger seemed to cause a reaction in him, as he began to emit an oppressive aura, as golden scales grew on his arm. This must be it! The power of Plot Armor! I began to feel giddy as Wulin seemed to be losing himself in rage. Wu Zhangkong tried stepping in, but I held out my hand, motioning him to stop.

My already big grin widened, as I declared, "Don't stop the battle. It seems as he's getting a power-up. This is gonna be fun!" Berserk-Wulin immediately dashed, re-appearing right in front of me, sending a powerful punch straight at my face. Crossing my arms, I used [Arnament: Hardening] on both of them, to try and tank the hit.

Even with [Arnament: Hardening] on, his punch broke my left arm. I seriously regretted not spending more time on [Kami-e], as the only [Rokushiki] move I had any mastery on at all was [Soru]. Focusing back on the battle, I stared at the menacing form of Berserk-Wulin.

Seeing that he was way stronger now, I gave a feral grin as I decided to try something. I closed my eyes for a little bit, before using my trump card. The [Zone]. As soon as I activated it, it seemed as everything went slower. My perception was heightened immensely, and I could feel that some restrictions on my body vanished. I used [Soru], kicking off the ground 50 times in one second, and instantly reappearing in front of Wulin. I had never been able to go this fast, as my current physique only allowed me to kick off the ground 15 times in one second, creating a much weaker [Soru].

As soon as I appeared in front of Wulin, I could see him instinctively react. Too bad I was faster, though. Using my enhanced speed, I decided to try out a new move I just thought of at the moment. [3rd-Stance Dragon Sign Hwechook].

It was a combination of two moves. The first is the [3rd-Stance Hwechook] a technique where Hwechook is executed three times in a row, using a combo to multiply the power of the [Hwechook]. The second was the [Dragon Sign Hwechook]. A technique performed by burying one's foot on the ground, and using the power derived from that and executing the [Hwechook], resulting in a much stronger version of it.

These two were combined together to form the [3rd-Stance Dragon Sign Hwechook], a technique where the user launches a [Dragon Sign Hwechook] starting from the left or right, aiming at the brain. From there, the user instantaneously moves to the opposite side, allowing the user enough time to perform another [Dragon Sign Hwechook]. Finally, it finishes with a [Dragon Sign Hwechook] from behind, finishing off the opponent.

However, this technique is only usable for me when I'm in the [Zone], due to the complexity of having to do many things in a very short amount of time, as well as due to the physical restrictions caused from having to execute 3 of such strong kicks in a short amount of time.

On top of that, all of the kicks have to be perfectly accurate to get the maximum effect. The only way that would be possible would be through the heightened sense of perception from the [Zone], a naturally trained high sense of perception, or a high enough rank of [Observation Haki], which was a level I was not at yet.

Explanations aside, as soon as I used the [3rd-Stance Dragon Sign Hwechook], I felt an intense ache in my muscles. Persevering through, however, I landed the first hit, stunning Berserk-Wulin. I managed to land the second also, causing Berserk-Wulin to stumble, beginning to lose consciousness. Finally, I was able to pull off the final hit, burying Wulin in the ground, as well as reverting his berserk mode and knocking him unconscious.

However, this victory did not come with a price. Due to the strain of using the [Zone], as well as an extremely powerful [Soru], and the very physically demanding [3rd-Stance Dragon Sign Hwechook], I collapsed on the ground also.

My muscles were screaming in pain, and my sight was blurry. I gasped, wanting to replenish the oxygen and energy my body used up with all of the attacks. It was all in vain though, as the fatigue from the high-intensity fights hit me at the same time as everything else did, causing me to blackout on the floor.

SUY NGHĨ CỦA NGƯỜI SÁNG TẠO
ImProcrastinating ImProcrastinating

Besides the fight a few chapters ago with Wulin, these are the first real fights I've written.

So, are they good? Bad? Alright?

How did you like the ending? First-Seal-Opened Wulin could destroy Two-Ringed Canon Xie Xie easily, and Berserk-Wulin could destroy Canon First-Ring Xie Xie. So I think that it was understandable that for my Xie Xie to be able to one-shot Berserk-Wulin, he would have to use such a powerful and demanding move, as well as the Zone. Cause even if Xie Xie has that much more technique than Wulin, Wulin was leagues ahead in physical ability, due to his GDK bloodline.

Honestly, this is probably one of the chapters I had the most fun writing. And also the longest chapter so far, I think.

Anyways, thanks for reading this chapter, and cya.
