Chương 15: 15. SANDS OF STRIFE

As Vikram's body slammed into the unforgiving black sands below, the impact reverberated through him like a thunderclap. Agony shot through every nerve, leaving him gasping for breath as he struggled to make sense of the chaos engulfing him.

Groaning, he fought against the dizzying onslaught threatening to engulf his senses. Through gritted teeth, he willed himself to focus, pushing past the haze of pain that clouded his mind. With each movement, his battered muscles protested, but he refused to yield to the overwhelming torment.

Summoning every ounce of strength, Vikram began to lift himself from the ground, his body trembling with the effort. Each motion felt like an uphill battle against the relentless tide of agony crashing over him, but he refused to surrender to despair.

As Vikram struggled to regain his footing amidst the agony of his impact, a new sensation seized hold of him—a violent turmoil stirring within his own body. It felt as though something primal and powerful was clawing its way out from deep within, threatening to rend him apart from within.

Helpless against this internal upheaval, Vikram was forced to his knees, a position he despised with every fiber of his being. Clutching his chest in a futile attempt to contain the growing pressure.

Vikram's heart sank with the realization of the peril he faced. It was as though his own body had become a battleground, with his very survival hanging in the balance.

Despite the relentless torment coursing through every fiber of his being, Vikram refused to surrender to despair. With a steely resolve etched upon his face, he summoned the last reserves of his willpower, pushing back against the overwhelming tide of agony threatening to engulf him.

Clutching his chest in a desperate attempt to quell the searing pain, Vikram's gaze fell upon the pack clutched tightly in his hand. Within it lay the promise of relief, a green powder that could bring an end to his suffering with a single dose. Yet, despite the temptation that beckoned, Vikram remained resolute in his decision to resist.

In a moment of clarity amidst the chaos, Vikram made a fateful choice. Instead of succumbing to the allure of the green powder and the temporary respite it offered, he chose to confront the pain head-on. With a grim determination, he embraced the agony, allowing it to wash over him completely.

As Vikram's chest and every part of his body bulged and caved under the relentless pressure, panic surged through him. Desperation drove his frantic search for salvation, his mind racing, grasping for any solution. The black sands of despair threatened to swallow him whole, the crushing weight of it all pressing in from all sides.

With each passing moment, Vikram's hope dwindled as his search yielded nothing. Despair seeped into his soul like ink spreading in water, extinguishing the fire of determination that once burned within him.

With a heavy heart, Vikram's gaze fell upon the desolate expanse of black sand surrounding him, a stark reminder of his impending fate. His once-bright eyes dimmed with resignation, and his shoulders slumped in defeat.

But suddenly, a mad glint appeared in his eyes.

As Vikram's body became increasingly engulfed by the sinister black sands, a twisted grin spread across his face. With a manic determination, he scooped up a handful of the dark substance and...

Swallowed it in one gulp.

Instantly, Vikram felt the sands writhing within him, their malevolent presence wreaking havoc on his body. It was as though they despised anything possessing vitality, their very essence a threat to the life force coursing through Vikram's veins.

As the sands tore through his throat like a swarm of tiny needles, Vikram gritted his teeth against the searing pain, his body wracked with agony. But amidst the torment, something extraordinary occurred.

Within the depths of Vikram's body, the sands encountered a formidable opponent—a force that rivaled their malevolence. Like two ancient adversaries locked in an eternal struggle, they turned upon each other with a ferocity that defied comprehension.

They went for each other's throat as they were sworn enemies.

Vikram felt his body's tearing pain subsided and the splitting pain of the black sand also diminished. It seemed that the entity that first inhabited the body had the upper hand, and the black sand was at a disadvantage, just like he wanted.

He didn't want the entity that first inhabited his body to die... yet.

Vikram clutched his head as he felt blinding pain. He noticed that he was bleeding extensively. Everywhere he looked at his body, there was blood.

That was good.

Vikram could hear The Hulk and The three Grunts coming by the number of 'thuds' he was hearing from the back. So, he went about his business. The black leaf that he had fully brushed towards his body was special.

The black leaf was coated with the mucus of the worms that Vikram had seen. And that mucus had a special property of making sand stick.

Vikram rolled his body around the sand, making more and more sand stick towards his body.

Which made him look like a small black golem.

Again, that was good.

Vikram could barely see what was in front of him, his breath was also restricted with all the sand that was sticking on his body. Plus the pain that was wreaking inside his body was unimaginable, but Vikram gritted, looked at the faraway cave that was in front of him, and limped forward.

After some moments, he could hear multiple thuds that resounded behind him. Although Vikram's face was almost covered with black mud like sand, people around him could feel that the little sand golem was barely hanging at the edge of hope.

Vikram weakly limped as he made haste to his destination as fast as possible.

"RAAMEESSS!!"

But an inhuman roar shook the desert. Vikram felt a shiver run down his spine as he heard the inhuman roar. It took some time to process that it was his name in this... what the hell was this unending hell...

The voice had a demonic undertone that was terrifying to anyone, and Vikram also felt that death looming in front of him. Vikram gritted his teeth as he tried to move faster, only to stumble and fall into the ground.

Behind Vikram, the black sands parted as a giant of a man rose from the sands. The Hulk had some serious bruises here and there, his head was bleeding, and some of his bones cracked, but that didn't seem to stop the pure hatred that was coming out of his eyes.

Vikram tried to get up, only to fall head straight again into the black sand. Vikram had underestimated the damage that the jagged stones had done to his body. Hell, it was a miracle that he had survived the fall...

Vikram felt that each cell of his body was protesting against him getting up. But The Hulk was fast approaching him.

Vikram looked ahead of him as he heard the massive footsteps approaching him.

His heart was beating fast as he really was afraid now. If his plan... no, if his gamble was wrong even a little bit, then it would be the end of him. Vikram looked at the cave that was still a little far away from him. Now that he was a little close to the cave, Vikram gulped.

The aura that the cave was projecting was of dread, slaughter, and madness. He didn't want to go there, but it didn't matter what he wanted, it mattered what he needed.

He needed to get inside that cave.

Vikram looked at the black sand as he moved his hands through the black sands and patted the sand.

'It's time to get up, right?'

It was at this moment that the black sands trembled, the black sands stirred as the Vikram could feel that something was getting up.

Something ancient.

The black sands rose as though it had sentience within.

It did.

The black sands solidified as though it was made of rocks. The rocks clumped on top of each other as they gradually formed something similar to a humanoid giant.

One even formed in front of Vikram. Vikram looked up as he looked at the black form of terror. It had two hollow holes that were on top of its head, but when he looked at the two holes closely, he saw fire.

A red, mad, blazing fire.

Which made it look like a 'small black golem'.
