Divine was racking her mind trying to come up with a solution. After almost a full minute of fighting, Divine still could not come up with anything. The skeleton mage was simply too fast. It felt like she was playing a game of cat and mouse. She was the cat, and the mouse had super speed. Divine was truly frustrated. After about 30 seconds of non-stop casting, the mage had seemingly ran out of mana. He stopped casting spells, so now it was a matter of Divine trying to catch him. That proved to be excessively difficult, however. Divine began running through ideas in her head before she settled on one.
'Blood magic. I could use blood magic. I feel so stupid.' Divine mentally berated herself before she untied her sword and unsheathed it. She slashed her hand and began creating small pools of blood on the floor.
.....
Silver sat atop the Ogre chieftain's bizarre throne, she found it semi-comfortable. Though it was made out of chiseled stone, so that was to be expected. Silver was looking at the rewards for destroying the Ogre outpost.
*DING* "Rewards have been calculated." "Reward for clearing 'Gul's Ogre Outpost': 15 Gold, 1 Rare Material Chest, 2 Uncommon Armor chests, Guild Token"
"Battle Rewards: 12 Ogre ears, 3 Ogre Clubs (Poor)."
Silver sighed. She didn't exactly have a use for materials, and had pretty good armor. She wasn't sure how useful the rewards would be for her. Nonetheless, she decided she would open them. First she decided to open the Rare Material Chest.
An orange light filled the extremly large hut, and when it cleared, a yellow-golden feather appeared. It's name read: 'Feather of the Lightning Phoenix.' Silver was curious if this was going to be something useful, but for now, she merely stored it. She wasn't an alchemist, an apothecary, nor a blacksmith. Silver didn't even have a profession. She was half curious if she should chose one, but decided to put it off for now. Silver began opening the uncommon chests next.
"Black Elven gauntlets, uncommon: These gauntlets are nearly identical to their original version. Merely created by a different subspecies of elf, the Dark Elves. (AGI +3)"
Silver let out a small curse when she read the Item's description. 'Motherfucker.' She thought as she opened the next chest.
"Scorched Robe of the Magi, Uncommon: These robes were once grand robes, worn by mages within the realm of Arkon. Now they are burned and barely recognizable. Int +5, Def -1"
Silver thought about it for a moment. Ultimately, she decided to stick with her current gear. Although the boost to Int was nice, the robe was far more revealing of her armor. The robe was tinged with burn marks and looked more like a shawl than an actual robe, so she simply put it in her inventory.
Silver was curious about the 'Guild Token' item. She had an inkling of what it could do and sure enough, she was correct.
"Guild Token: Can be used to form a guild. This does not cover the cost of doing so, and having this token merely means one has that privilege."
Silver smirked as she faintly remembered Layla talking about starting a guild. 'Perhaps I should give her a chat.' Thus, the message was sent. Silver was a confident woman.
Silver: "I have something you'll be interested in, where are you at?"
Layla replied almost immediately. "Starhelm library, musing over something. Meet me at Hersch's Diner and we'll discuss."
Silver smiled and began heading that way. Her smile never faded. Ezra was resummoned and resting on her shoulder. As Silver pet her, she let out a small *CHIRP*. It was an objectively cute dragon.
.....
Silver arrived at the diner and entered. She entered into a waiting room. It had multiple benches that were coated in furs of various kinds. The walls were painted red, and accented with gold. It was extremely luxurious.
A short man in a butler's outfit slowly approached her. His bearing was regal and respectful. He smiled and bowed as he greeted her.
"Welcome Miss, I am Issac. What might be your name?"
Silver replied curtly. "I'm Silver Moon. I'm meeting a friend, her name is Layla."
He nodded. "Right this way ma'am."
He began leading her to the back of the diner. The further in she got, the more lavish and luxurious it seemed to become. Various people were sitting and eating. The food was presented wonderfully. Everything looked appetizing, even to Silver, who was a vampire and experienced no appetite, only thirst.
The two of them stopped in front of a curtained off area, and Silver entered when Issac bowed.
Layla was sitting inside. She had a small goblet of white wine in her hand. When Silver entered, she smiled. "Silver, it's good to see you. I feel like it's been forever."
Silver merely sat down and smiled back. "It does feel like it's been awhile, but it truly hasn't. Last time was when Divine introduced Kora. Anyways, I heard you talking before about starting a guild. Tell me a bit about it."
Layla smiled. If she could somehow get Silver to join, her plans would solidify. She would never push her, nor attempt to eliminate her, but Layla knew that Silver was currently the strongest person in the game. Layla smiled. "Truthfully, creating a guild is insanely difficult. You need a guild token, 100 gold coins and at least two people. Finding people nor acquiring gold is the true issue. Guild Tokens are. They're extremely rare. Supposedly, they drop from raids. I believe you can get one from destroying outposts, but they're a rare instance to find and the drop rate is abysmal."
Silver smiled awkwardly. Apparently, she got lucky. Though, it really didn't feel like it, considering she didn't get anything else truly useful.
Layla continued. "Of course, you can start a guild without a guild token. It's just that a guild token allows one to formally create a guild and acquire property for it. Valiant Widowmakers was one such guild that was unofficial, though there are many more." She looked towards Silver hesitantly. "Why are you so interested in guilds all of a sudden?"
It took me awhile to get this one up because I had to reread my own novel :D nonetheless, here's another chapter.
