Travelling between territories could take a few days to a few months, depending on where one was going. When one was going to hunting territories, they used space teleportation devices in the teleport booths to teleport to locations known as teleport bay and continue the rest of the journey via a boat. It was because all the space teleportation devices planted in the hunting territories ended up getting destroyed by beasts in the hunting territories.
For travelling between habitable territories, due to circumstances, space teleportation devices were not allowed for travel; hence one had to use an airship to travel between these territories. Aboard an airship headed for Gamel, Lin and old Dan were in the cafeteria having breakfast. The airship was enormous and even had rooms to spend the night in. Like most airships, it had casinos and a Scopehub. They had left Coulden a day after Lin visited old Dan and had been travelling for a week. It would take them another two weeks to arrive in Gamel.
After swallowing a mouth full of food, Lin asked old Dan, "Old Dan, why can't we just travel by teleportation devices but instead waste so much time on airships when we could just zap to wherever we want?" Old Dan thought for a while; he said, "I do not know why the reason. What I do know is that there used to be teleportation devices that aided travel between territories until about a few years ago. They were all destroyed without any reason given."
"Destroyed? By who?"
"I have no idea who; all I heard were hearsays about it. Per the information I received, their destruction was due to a battle. After their destruction, an order was relayed to leave them as is and not repair them. So, they were all left as they were." Lin didn't seem convinced as the story seemed a little sketchy however, he asked, "Who then gave the order for them not to be repaired? I can't imagine anyone with that kind of authority."
"There's a lot you don't know kid; some things are better left unsaid and some names are better left unmentioned" Old Dan said nothing more than that and only stared at him as though he were communicating with him telepathically. Lin seemed to have guessed who he meant. "Apart from the Ruler of Tauratet, there is no one with that kind of authority amongst all the territories. I have only heard that there was a ruler though no one seemed to know who he was or what he looked like" Lin remained silent in thought. Tauratet was the world within which the territories resided. "But can't someone just use the teleport bay to jump to another territory?" Lin asked after a long pause.
"If that were possible, who would waste their time on ships? The teleportation devices register one's signature after you go through it. If your signature has not been registered in a particular one, you cannot use it to travel to another territory. You can only use that one device you used to enter the bay to go back to your destination. You cannot use another. I'm surprised you don't even know something this basic".
Lin replied indifferently, "I am not a space element wielder so, I have no interest in that field. I was just wondering."
"It does seem strange not to repair those space teleportation devices. A whole lot about this seems sketchy to me. This is all the more reason I need a personal Scopenet. At least with that, I can find out any information I want to without raising too much suspicion." Lin contemplated.
After two weeks of uneventful travel, they finally arrived at Gamel. The ship slowly pulled into a dock. Gamel was very large and the closest habitable territory to Coulden. It was about four times the size of Coulden, give or take. The ports were filled with ships coming and going, most of which were goods-carrying ships. In Gamel, there were lots of flying ships of different sizes and shapes, both private and commercial. It seemed to be their major source of transportation as there were barely any grounded vehicles.
There were very tall buildings all around the territory and the closer one got to the centre, the better the infrastructure one would saw. In the middle of the territory was an enormous castle. It looked crystalline as if it was made of ice. It was a truly beautiful sight. The castle was suspended at about three hundred meters off the ground and around it was five suspending turrets.
Above the castle was another turret with a statue on it. The statue resembled a three-tailed fox biting its middle tail with the other two arching over it. It was the symbol of the Azeria family. The controller of the territory of Gamel.
Lin and Old Dan were at the very outskirts of the territory, something that disappointed Lin greatly. They were in a fairly large apartment which was okay for Lin but what disappointed him was the fact that he could not get a proper view of the territory from where he was, "I thought we were going to be somewhere with fountains and clubs and fun spots instead… what is this place again?"
Old Dan ignored his grumblings and said, "Quickly settle down and prepare to go hunting again tomorrow we are going to need lots of cores and beast corpses if we want to make it here."
"Classic old Dan. Talking about hunting as soon as we got here. At least allow me to rest for a few days" he lamented in his heart before he said, "Then I'm going to need a space storage box with larger space because the one I have isn't going to be very useful. The space is too small"
"I would get you one tomorrow. For now, go to the gear shops and get yourself a battle suit(gear). I don't want you coming back here with completely tattered clothes. At the very least, the battle suit can last quite longer than the normal clothes you have been wearing." He said as he started moving his clothes into the wardrobe.
"And where do I find these gear shops?" Lin asked picking up his bag, readying himself to leave. "Go find it for yourself. At least you can explore as you wish. Just don't go too close to the castle" Old Dan gave him some gold coins and set him away. "Jeez, this old man". Lin remarked and walked out of the room.
