Two days passed uneventfully. They spoke little during the day, focused on the road ahead, but at night, they camped under the stars, and the conversations became more animated.
Lilith, ever the instigator, would regale them with stories of her past lovers—most of which were exaggerated to the point of absurdity.
"And then, I told him, if you can't satisfy me, then I'll have to take matters into my own hands!"
"Lilith," Medea sighed. "This is not appropriate dinner conversation."
"Oh, lighten up, sister," Lilith shot back, reaching for the wineskin. "We've all had lovers in our time. You've got to admit, that was a pretty good line."
Ava shook her head. "It would have been, if it hadn't come from you," she said, her tone dry.
Lilith pouted. "I'm not that bad."
"Yes, you are."
Medea's tone was flat, leaving no room for argument.
