“Of course, I would be honored,” I said, assuming my best I’m-so-shocked-and-awed-to be-considered tone.
Alex assured me the move was temporary, they would have to post it, and of course, if I wished to apply, my name would under consideration. As I walked out of the meeting, I fought a strong urge not to skip to my desk.
“Gosh, Yvette, congratulations,” Sandi said, as I sat down at my desk trying not to grin too much. This being a newsroom, I am sure the staff knew the reason for me being in the meeting fifteen minutes prior to me walking in the door this morning.
Hearing the words come out of her mouth, I could swear a hint of jealousy floated out as well but I just shrugged it off. I knew some of my co-workers gargled with hater-ade instead of mouthwash in the morning but I never counted Sandi among their ranks.
