Chapter 28
A Few Moments Earlier…
Alpha Charles had finally woken from the long, steamy night he'd had with his two concubines. He felt quite refreshed, and ready to carry on with his plans to stop the prophecy. His imagination was running wild with ideas, as he was bent on proving the prophecy wrong.
Turning to his left and his right to see the naked bodies of his two sleeping concubines, and felt somewhat satisfied. He sprung up to his feet, and slipped into his morning clothes.
"My king…" Ruth muttered. "You're awake…"
"Good morning, my king…" Stella said after her, as they both sat up in bed. "Hope you had a good night's sleep—"
"You can get out now," Alpha Charles cut them short, not caring for any of their gestures of kindness. He wanted them out of his room immediately. "Get going!" He ordered urgently.
"Yes… my king," they quivered as they hurried up and out of his bed and scrambled for their dresses.
He watched as they struggled to slip into their dresses, and headed out of the room. Soon enough, he was all alone in his rooms with his thoughts and a scattered bed. But then that was the least of his problems.
"Lucas," he called for his beta through a mind link. "Come here at once."
As he waited for the arrival of his beta, he turned to the window, and fed his eyes on the view outside. His room being on the top floor afforded him the best view one could get in all the rooms of the fortress.
His thoughts drifted to why he hadn't seen the black, absurd creature that had appeared to him twice. He had braced himself for another encounter during the night, but nothing happened. He had Edna imprisoned, there still wasn't any form of retaliation, but she had quietly complied without doing anything to him or his men. That had him curious.
"My lord…" Lucas came running through the door in a hurried instant. He looked as if he had been running for quite a while. "I'm here."
"Begin making arrangements for a meeting between me and the council at once," Alpha Charles ordered, without giving any thought to Lucas's eyes, which were deprived of sleep. "Everything should be ready by noon."
"Yes my lord."

Presently...
"What are you doing here?" Lucas asked in shock as he felt like he was in a dream. How could Zach have been in there at that time? He wondered, as he stared in disbelief.
He had been on his way to make arrangements for the meeting, when he stumbled into something he hadn't arranged for.
"Quiet…" Zach shushed, as he looked around, making sure that there wasn't anyone looking. He had taken the biggest risk of his life by sneaking out there to see Lucas. "I don't have much time."
"How did you get in?" the shock of the moment didn't afford Lucas the opportunity to revel in the pleasure of setting his eyes on Zach yet again. He just couldn't control himself at that point.
"That's not important," Zach said, still looking around to make sure that he wasn't being watched. "My sister came to see you the last time, didn't she?"
"Selene is your sister?" Lucas was surprised, as that information came out from nowhere. "I had no idea that she was your sister." He could feel pressure, as he wondered if Zach knew about him being mated to his sister.
"Well, now you know," Zach spoke with subtle savviness. "So what happened in her last visit?"
"What happened?" Lucas was a bit taken aback by that question. It had him wondering why Zach was anxious to know about what had transpired between him and his sister. Had she told them something different, out, was he just being jealous?
Lucas hoped that it was the latter. He felt somewhat guilty that he would be playing with the feelings of the two siblings, and taking advantage of them at the same time.
But then, he waved off the guilt by reminding himself of the fact that he had been waiting so long for that opportunity, and that it wasn't his fault that they both clinging to him.
"Yeah… what happened?" Zach insisted on his question, not minding how awkward it sounded. For a moment, it felt like his curiosity had clouded his reasoning.
"Well…" the manipulative instincts in Lucas's head began to come to life slowly, "Nothing really happened."
"You're sure about that?" Zach asked, as he wanted more reassurance. The first reply wouldn't suffice.
"I'm sure of that," Lucas said, trying to reassure him as best as he could. He felt somewhat relieved, as he could still feel some attraction towards Zach.
At some point, it had felt like Zach's seductive sister had taken away his desire for the male folk with the way she nearly had him out of breath.
"Alright…" Zach said with a sigh of relief. "That's great."
"So, what exactly are you here for?" Lucas asked, as he was sure that there was no way he could have possibly come all the way from his pack to that place just to ask that question.
"Well…" Zach was beginning to cover up the space in-between the both of them, with steps that were precursors of what his intentions were. "I came here for you…"
"What do you mean—"
Before Lucas could finish, Zach's lips came on his. He could sense the similarity between the methods he and his sister employed.
For a moment, Lucas couldn't move. His long-awaited fantasy was finally happening to him in the most unimaginable way. He wished that he could just grab him and take him to his room.
Just when he was beginning to get into the act, Zach withdrew from him, leaving him hungry and aroused. There was no way he could take that, as he wasn't sure when next he would be afforded the opportunity to see him again.
"Come here…" Lucas said, as he grabbed Zach yet again, and locked lips with him. He shut his eyes, as he immersed himself at the moment.
But when he opened his eyes, he was met with eye contact with the last person he was expecting to see.
"Oh no…" he stuttered. "My queen…"
Just how many more surprised did the day have in store for him?
