Chương 13: Culinary Delights and Shadows

Aduke and Ebuka found respite on a fallen log, their bodies weary from the battles they had faced.

The remnants of adrenaline still coursed through their veins as they caught their breath.

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden hue over the landscape.

The air carried a hint of coolness, soothing their sweat-drenched skin.

They leaned back, their gazes fixed on the sky, filled with awe at the beauty of the moment.

"Man, can you believe it?" Ebuka said, his voice filled with wonder. "The world has changed so much."

Aduke nodded, a smile playing on her lips. "Yeah, it's like we're living in a different dimension."

Ebuka chuckled. "And to think we're at the center of it all. Our powers, our abilities... it's mind-blowing."

Aduke's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I never imagined I'd have personal clairvoyance. It's like I have a superpower."

Ebuka grinned. "Well, you do have a superpower! And a pretty cool one, if I may say so myself."

She nudged him playfully. "says the guy with cosmic manipulation. You're practically a superhero."

He shrugged modestly. "Just doing my part, you know?"

Aduke grew serious. "But you know what? It's not just about the powers. It's about what we do with them. We have a responsibility."

Ebuka nodded, his expression earnest. "You're right. We have the power to bring change, to make a difference."

Silence settled between them, the weight of their purpose hanging in the air.

Aduke broke the silence, her voice filled with determination.

"Let's keep pushing forward. Together, we can unravel the truth, expose the darkness."

He nodded, a fire igniting in his eyes.

"Absolutely, we'll stand side by side, facing whatever comes our way."

With renewed resolve, they rose from the log, ready to face the next challenge.

Hand in hand, they walked forward, their bond stronger than ever.

As they emerged from the portal, the air crackling with residual energy, Ebuka and Aduke found themselves in an unfamiliar location.

The surroundings were serene, a quiet patch of wilderness nestled amidst towering trees.

The path ahead beckoned, promising new adventures and undiscovered portals to be conquered.

However, Aduke's keen eye caught a glimpse of their dwindling supplies, a reminder of their journey's demands.

Aduke turned to Ebuka, her voice filled with concern.

"We're running low on supplies. Should we head to the market at Erinla City to restock?" He hesitated for a moment, his eyes scanning their surroundings before meeting Aduke's gaze.

"Well, you have a point. We have been on the move for quite some time, and it wouldn't hurt to replenish our provisions. Besides, a bustling market might offer us valuable information too."

She smiled, relieved by his agreement.

"Exactly! Plus, it'll be a chance to experience the local culture and maybe even discover some unique items. Let's make a stop at the market and gather everything we need before continuing our quest."

As the sun cast its warm glow upon the bustling city of Erinla, Aduke and Ebuka ventured into the vibrant market, their eyes widening at the kaleidoscope of colors and the cacophony of sounds that enveloped them.

Aduke scanned the lively stalls, her excitement palpable.

"Eh, see market o! [Wow, look at this market!] So many things to buy!"

Ebuka chuckled, nodding in agreement. "Na true you talk. [You're right.] Let's find some good bargains."

They navigated through the bustling crowds, their senses bombarded with the aroma of fresh produce, the vibrant displays of fabrics, and the rhythmic beats of street musicians.

Aduke approached a fruit vendor, eyeing the succulent mangoes on display.

"Oga, how much for the mango dem? [Sir, how much are the mangoes?]"

The vendor smiled, his voice rich with a local accent.

"Madam, na five hundred naira for one bunch. Dem fresh well-well. [Madam, it's five hundred naira for one bunch. They are very fresh.]"

Aduke raised an eyebrow, ready to haggle.

"Ah, Oga, abeg, see as I be your customer na. Make we do am three hundred naira. [Ah, Sir, please, look at me as your customer. Let's do it for three hundred naira.]"

The vendor laughed heartily, playing along.

"Madam, you wan chop my profit finish. Make we do am four-hundred-naira, final price. [Madam, you want to eat up all my profit. Let's settle for four-hundred-naira, final price.]"

Aduke grinned, satisfied with the compromise.

"Ehen, Oga, na deal. You be correct businessman. [Alright, Sir, it's a deal. You're a proper businessman.]"

They continued their shopping spree, skillfully bargaining for various foodstuffs and necessities, their pidgin conversations laced with humor and camaraderie.

With their bags filled, the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the city streets. Ebuka glanced at his watch, realizing the lateness of the hour.

"Aduke, e don dey late. We go need find hotel chop night. [Aduke, it's getting late. We'll need to find a hotel to spend the night.]"

Aduke nodded, scanning their surroundings. She approached a passerby, her voice friendly. "Bros, abeg, where we fit see cheap hotel wey dey around here? [Brother, please, where can we find an affordable hotel around here?]"

The passerby smiled, pointing in a direction. "Just go straight down this road, you go see one small hotel for there. Dem no dey charge too much. [Just go straight down this road, you'll find a small hotel there. They don't charge too much.]"

Grateful for the assistance, Aduke thanked him, and they set off towards the recommended hotel, their tired feet eager to find rest.

As they strolled through the lively market, the colorful array of stalls caught their attention. Aduke and Ebuka admired the various traders displaying their wares with pride.

The aroma of spices and freshly cooked meals filled the air, enticing their senses.

Suddenly, Ebuka's stomach let out a loud rumble, causing him to blush in embarrassment. Aduke chuckled and patted him on the back.

"Haha, seems like someone's hungry! No worries, I know just the place to satisfy our cravings." She said while searching for the food stall.

They made their way to a bustling 'mama put' [Food stall in pidgin]; a local food canteen known for its authentic dishes.

Ebuka eagerly scanned the menu, his eyes lighting up with anticipation.

"I think I'll go for eba and okro soup. My taste buds are yearning for some traditional goodness." He said after scanning through the menu.

Aduke smiled and chose her favourite dish.

"I'm in the mood for jollof rice and moi moi. Can't resist the flavors of home."

As their orders arrived, the aroma wafted through the air, tempting their senses.

They couldn't help but admire the beautifully presented dishes before them.

Aduke savored the rich flavors of the jollof rice, while Ebuka delighted in the smoothness of the eba and the hearty taste of the okro soup.

They took their time, enjoying every bite and appreciating the cultural origins of the dishes.

After finishing their meal, they headed to a nearby vendor and purchased chilled lacasera, a popular Nigerian carbonated drink.

As Ebuka opened the bottle, a burst of fizz greeted him, making him exclaim in excitement.

Ebuka: "Ah omo, na confam mineral be this! Sapa never see anything!" (Wow, this is a fantastic drink! No one can resist it! / Poverty hasn't seen anything)

Aduke burst into laughter at Ebuka's enthusiasm, thoroughly enjoying the light-hearted moment.

However, unbeknownst to them, a group of men had been discreetly following their every move.
