It was Aurelia who tilted her head back in acknowledgment, though Zariel hadn't bothered to stay his step, opening the door to his carriage for Aurelia, unable to deny the chivalry his mother engraved in his bones. The young Nephilm flushed, her heart skipping a beat.
"I bet you don't even understand the meaning behind opening the door for someone," Aurelia said to him.
The Silver Devil didn't try to hide it. He hadn't. In his mind, Aurelia's hands were not pinned to her bottom. She could very well have opened the door, yet social norms dictated she shouldn't have to if she didn't want to. Zariel thought that was stupid, but it seemed like he was the only one who thought so.
"Can't you hear me!" The strong voice snapped, capturing the attention of the crowd gathering outside the auction house.
At last, Zariel finally acknowledged the stranger, tilting an eye towards him, the blacks of his eyes shimmering beneath the radiant moon.
