Chương 64: Contradictions
Seeing Merlin, the peak Tier 1 general Kage let out a deafening roar without hesitation. He had used [Dragon's Might], which was a rather troublesome skill for even those a level above the user.
It would cause all sorts of debuffs to people based on their weaknesses. Mages with weak constitutions would experience a lack in stamina and strength, while melee combatants with weaker intelligences would experience stiffer thoughts, as though their minds were in a quagmire.
Realising this situation, Merlin released a large amount of his mana to counter this skill. His intentions were simple; most skills used mana to perform certain tasks instantly that might take the user longer to create using mana on their own. Essentially, it was a shortcut key to perform certain actions through the system. Merlin's plan was to overwhelm the skill with sheer mana force.
However, doing this caused his passive skill [Predator] to activate it's Active effect, which was to produce fear into enemies, depending on the amount of mana used.
Kage, who was halfway through his skill activation, suddenly stopped. He felt a feeling he had not felt since he advanced to Tier 1. It was the instinctive feeling of fear. Fear towards a higher form of existence. His already pale face grew even paler, and his entire body froze completely.
The fear he felt grew with time, seeping deeper into his subconscious, and ingraining itself into the furthest part of his mind, transforming into complete and utter terror.
Casting his gaze towards the source of the terror deep within his mind, Kage saw nothing. Nothing but darkness. Darkness that stretched for eons in every direction. And within the darkness, at an impossibly close yet distant proximity was a figure. A figure in black. A black different from the darkness surrounding it. A figure that was the source of all of the darkness. And within the eyes of the figure, was a flame. A flame so bright it nearly blinded Kage, yet it somehow existed along with the darkness.
Suddenly, Kage saw something within the flames. It was a the embodiment of contradictions. Its very existence was a paradox, in constant conflict with itself.
As soon as Kage's eyes fell on that being, his body trembled slightly, before completely falling limp.

Suddenly, Merlin felt a sharp and piercing pain in his eyes. It moved swiftly from his eyes in an attempt to attack his mind.
Realising something was wrong, Merlin instantly activated all his defences. However, the pain was already inside his body, and could not be kept out. It moved swiftly through the maze of nerves.
However, just as it was going to reach Merlin's mind, a notification came to his mind.
[An external Being is trying to invade your soul]
Just as this notification came up in Merlin's mind, he lost consciousness completely and fainted.
