Chương 10: Chapter 8 Atlanta

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the small village nestled between rolling hills. Its narrow, dusty streets were alive with the distant murmur of villagers finishing their day's labor. Merlin, weary from his journey across the sands of Egypt, had found solace here—a modest respite from his constant travels.

The villagers, though initially cautious of his strange ways, soon came to trust him. The Horse Talisman he carried granted him the power to heal, and he used it freely, mending broken bones and soothing fevers with a touch. His presence had become a quiet blessing, and though they still whispered about him, the once-skeptical villagers now greeted him with subtle nods and small smiles.

Merlin's temporary home was a quaint tavern on the village's edge, its weathered timber beams creaking faintly in the cool evening breeze. Owned by a sharp-witted woman named Janista and her mischievous young son, Titus, the place had become a haven of simple comforts him.

As Merlin stepped into the tavern's dimly lit interior, the scent of roasted meat and freshly baked bread greeted him, mingling with the faint aroma of herbs hanging from the rafters. He had just climbed the worn stairs to his modest room when Janista's voice called out.

"Merlin! I need your help!"

He paused mid-step, turning to face her. She stood behind the bar, wiping her hands on a cloth, her expression a mix of determination and mild exasperation.

"What is it?" he asked, descending the stairs and brushing a lock of disheveled hair from his face.

Janista pointed toward the far side of the village, where the rooftops thinned, giving way to the dense woods beyond. "I need something from the blacksmith. Can you fetch her for me? I'm too busy with the tavern to go myself."

Merlin furrowed his brow, curiosity sparking in his tired eyes. "The blacksmith? What do you need her for?"

Janista waved the question away, her tone brisk. "Nothing too complicated. She's working on something I ordered. Just tell her I need it finished soon."

Merlin nodded, adjusting his travel-worn robes. "Alright, I'll find her."

With that, he stepped back out.

The warm glow of a roaring forge casts dancing shadows on the walls of the blacksmith's workshop. The rhythmic clang of metal echoes outside, fading into the buzz of a bustling village. Merlin approaches, a mixture of curiosity and nerves flickering in his expression as steam and smoke waft from the open doorway."Hello? Is anyone here?"

A voice, smooth yet commanding, calls out from the back."Back here."

Merlin steps inside, the humid air clinging to his robes. He rounds a corner and halts abruptly.

At the heart of the forge stood a woman, her back turned to him, immersed in her craft.

She is bent over a large barrel of steaming liquid, her movements purposeful and strong as she plunged a glowing blade into a barrel of water, the hiss of steam rising like a shroud around her. The light accentuates the curve of her hips and the bare expanse of ass, further emphasizing the rugged allure of her form. Her ass, framed by the intricate straps of her attire.

And for a fleeting moment, Merlin's gaze dipped, lingering on her ass that gleams slightly from the sweat of her labor. A sculpted marvel framed by the tattered edges of her skirt-like armor. He swallowed hard, his cheeks warming as he realized where he was looking.

Before he could avert his eyes, her voice cut through the thick air, sharp and teasing.

"Enjoying the view?"

Merlin nearly choked, his composure slipping entirely. "I—uh—no, I mean, I wasn't—well—" He stumbled over his words, clearing his throat as he gestured vaguely at the forge. "It's… the steam! It got in my eyes."

She turned slowly, the motion deliberate, revealing a strikingly beautiful yet rugged face framed by thick, wavy blonde hair that cascaded over her shoulders. Her intense gaze locked onto him, sharp yet amused. A smirk tugged at her lips, making it clear she was enjoying his discomfort.

Her outfit was a seamless blend of practicality and allure, accentuating her strength and beauty. She was wearing a leotard-like outfit, with a leather bodice hugged her torso, reinforced with thin, crisscrossing straps that connected over her shoulders and back, giving the impression of a gladiator's armor while allowing for fluid movement. The upper portion mimicked a breastplate, its curved, sculpted design following the contours of her athletic frame, showcasing her toned shoulders and upper arms.

Around her waist, a segmented belt cinched her silhouette, detailed with geometric etchings that reflected the craftsmanship of a warrior's garb.

Below the belt, her attire transitioned into a short, tattered leather skirt, with overlapping panels resembling a gladiator's battle gear. The high-cut design framed her hips and thighs, offering a bold yet functional aesthetic. The metallic strips shimmered faintly in the firelight, drawing the eye downward. As Merlin's gaze lingered for a fraction too long, it landed on her ass—sculpted.

"Big boy, my eyes are up here," she teased, gesturing with a tilt of her chin.

Merlin's face flushed crimson. "I wasn't—I didn't mean to—" he stammered, then stopped, exhaling in defeat. "Janista sent me. She wants to know if you finished her order."

Atalanta steps closer, wiping her hands on a leather apron,"Yes, I finished. I will send it too her."her amused grin never wavering."They call me Atalanta. And you are?"

Merlin smiled and answered "Merlin."

She chuckles, her voice rich and full of mirth."The healer. I've heard about you—you're the sorcerer patching people up for free. Didn't expect you to look so…" she gives him an up-and-down glance, smirking."fit."

Merlin manages a modest smile and replied"Well, magic keeps me really fit."

As the forge crackles, the interplay of firelight reflecting the chemistry building between the two.

Atalanta spoke up"Help me with these box of swords."she hands him a box of swords, Merlins helps her, her fingers brushing his briefly.

Atlanta smirked at Merlin and said"Don't be a stranger, Merlin. You're a good distraction from hammering iron all day."

Merlin replied."I'll, uh… keep that in mind." he nods, his composure slipping back into slight awkwardness as he departs.

Just as Merlin stepped outside, for a fleeting moment, the air seemed to hum, subtle yet distinct, as if infused with a divine presence.

He turned back toward the smithy, his gaze narrowing as he scanned the dimly room. Everything appeared ordinary.

Merlin muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible over the evening sounds. "Nothing... I must have felt wrong."
