Chương 22: Chapter 22: The raccoon
As they approached the top of the mountain the raccoons they saw started getting bigger and more sparse, on this part of the mountain was where all the Fighter Raccoons were born, they were naturally born bigger than other raccoons and would grow up to be giants when they are in their primes the largest fighter grew to be a total of 180 meters which even towered over some Bijuu.
But because they were born to be bigger than other raccoons they were separated since they often fought each other and if they played fight with the smaller raccoons the smaller one's could be killed so even their caretakers were Fighter Raccoons, the raccoons here were divided by strength, the higher you got to the top the stronger the raccoons would get, and Shikamaru didn't seem to have any intention to stop.
Shikamaru and Elder Shiroi were now approaching the very top of the mountain, in just a couple of steps, they would see which raccoon would be at the top.
Step by step they got closer and closer to the top and by now they could hear the breathing of something giant.
They had now reached the top and Shikamaru opened his eyes, the world seemed to be in slow motion to Shikamaru once again which told him that he was once again using his special ability, his eyes now changed into deep endless pits that once you looked into would never forget.
Shikamaru then looked at the raccoon that was at the top of the mountain, the raccoon had fur colored the darkest shade of black, its eyes were a dark purple that glowed with mysterious energy, and the circle around its eyes were a snow-white color similar to its tail.
The raccoon also inspected Shikamaru with both of them completely disregarding Elder Shiroi's presence she simply stood to the side and allowed them to do what they wished.
The raccoon which was previously sitting on its hind legs now stood up on two legs and revealed its true size which was an impressive 15 meters.
Shikamaru approached the raccoon and stood in front of it, compared to the raccoon Shikamaru looked like an ant, and they simply continued fiercely staring into each other's eyes.
They were both emanating an intense pressure and both looked tense, then suddenly the raccoon moved and punched at Shikamaru with its front legs, the shadows surrounding Shikamaru seemed to noticed this and rose out of the ground creating a shield in front of Shikamaru.
The raccoon's punch was stopped and the shadows surrounded the raccoon's fist and pulled it down as if the shadows wouldn't allow anyone to be above its master's eye level.
The raccoon then promptly got pulled to the ground causing the earth to shake and a crater to form under the raccoon's head, the raccoon didn't give up though, and continued struggling but eventually got covered in shadows entirely.
The raccoon which was previously towering over Shikamaru was now being crushed under Shikamaru's shadows, Shikamaru merely looked down at the raccoon and put his hand onto the raccoon's forehead.
The raccoon then stopped struggling entirely and they spoke for the first time during this entire encounter.
"I accept you as my summoner." Those were the words uttered by the raccoon.
Then something magical happened, the raccoon's forehead and Shikamaru's palm started glowing and a single rune got burnt into their forehead and palm respectively, the rune was in the form of the kanji for shadow.
Shikamaru's eyes then turned back to their original black color and he fainted, but before he could fall over he was caught by the gigantic hand of the raccoon.
Elder Shiroi then decided to make her presence known "Kurogami! Come here!"
The raccoon whose name was revealed to be Kurogami then hastily looked up with wide eyes and with a panicked voice said "Ah Grandma! I didn't notice you were there."
Elder Shiroi seemed pissed off by this as she slammed her foot on the ground and shouted at Kurogami "You brat! How many times have I told you not to call me grandma! You have to call me Elder Shiroi!"
Kurogami's cheeks puffed up "But Grandma, I always called you grandma ever since I was really little and you only started complaining about it after Shikamaru became our summoner."
Elder Shiroi then sighed exasperatedly "I told you to call me elder Shiroi because he isn't yet ready to know that I am your grandmother nor is he ready to know who your grandfather is, it will all come with time but for now he is too weak to know any of our secrets."
With a final sigh Elder Shiroi started walking down the mountain "Now let us not stand around here, I shall return Shikamaru back to his room in the human realm."
Kurogami quickly caught up with Elder Shiroi "Grandm- er I mean Elder Shiroi, you could just let him stay in the village."
Elder Shiroi looked to be contemplating something and after a minute or so nodded her head to Kurogami "Indeed it would be a good idea to finally introduce him to the village, this way he can get to know Little Daichi as well."
Kurogami's face gradually turned to one of fear once she mentioned 'Little Daichi', Kurogami looked rather reluctant to continue following Elder Shiroi but eventually made up his mind to follow his grandmother and new master.
Together they headed down the mountain and reached the bottom within 10 minutes moving much faster than Shikamaru had done.
Once they reached the bottom they started walking towards the east, the Mountain of Beginning was located to the north, and the village of the raccoons towards the East.
They ran for around thirty minutes and arrived at a large village surrounded by mountains on all sides.

I'm gathering inspiration to make my own novel, prolly gonna either make something more logical or some bullshit story where the mc gets everything like in many Chinese novels.
