Chương 25: Chapter 25 – Forest of Beasts
During the time of the execution, I spoke with Frederick, who immediately assigned Lena as my personal escort. She followed me without asking any questions, though she wondered why I selected her.
Her heart skipped a beat wondering if I was going to take advantage of her in this kind of place. We have long since left the safety of the city and entered the forest of magical beasts.
Today I was planning to reach level 15. I noticed that my stats went up 5 points for each level. Which was outrageous considering that a human could only climb between 1 to 3 points in each stat as a level until they get a class.
All the way I was silent, which made Lena couldn't stand her curiosity any longer.
- My... Lord. Can I ask you a question?
Fear was written on her face. This was fun, so I decided to play with she a bit.

Lena's face lit up and she immediately said.
- Why did you select me as your escort?
I pretended to think of a reason. During this time Lena felt nervous. She even thought that if I tried to overdo it with her, she would kill me. Although I couldn't read minds, it was easy to tell, as she was holding the hilt of her sword all the way.

This was not a lie. Her steps were those of someone trained. Something that all my guards lacked.
My words were immediately misunderstood by Lena who blushed and, in her mind, there were only the words "You looked better than everyone". Trying to stop thinking about it, she looked around only to notice that he was in the woods.

I didn't bother to hide this as it was necessary. I was looking around for clues about the creatures. Finally, about 20 meters away from me, I saw some footprints.
- My lor.....

I motioned for her to shut up. I knelt down and checked the trace. Judging by the shape of the almost humanoid footprint of a child's foot, I could judge that it was the footprint of a goblin. Goblins were green-skinned creatures with the bearing of a child, but with the strength of an average adult.
The trace was fresh, most likely still close. Seeing that there are no more footprints around, I could assume that it was alone. A goblin was a difficult thing for a beginner. Even the city guards had to be in pairs to kill one. This was a natural occurrence as they had more powerful instincts than a human and their small sizes made them more agile. On the other hand, they wielded rustic weapons such as spears and swords.
These creatures usually live in groups led by a hobgoblin. Larger goblin villages may have a goblin shaman or a goblin king who are designated as disasters. This is because goblins have a high libido and seek out females of other species to breed with.
I looked in the direction of the trace and resumed the chase. I motioned for Lena to be vigilant. I didn't know if this was a trap and even if there were more goblins, I was confident that I could defeat them. What I wasn't sure was that I could protect Lena.
We walked in a straight line for 200 meters until I could see a creature holding a spear. I searched the surroundings and above the trees to make sure it wasn't an ambush. It was only when I saw the goblin drop the spear and pick some berries in a bush that I jumped straight at him.
The goblin saw me horrified and with a slash of my sword I decapitated him. This fight was straightforward and very fast. My stats were much broader than a goblin. Not wanting to waste any time, I reached for the magic crystal.
- Congratulations on taking down a goblin. Earned 100 XP.
A magical beast or monster possessed a core that is usually in its head or chest. This core is crystalline and highly resistant. It contains all the magical energy that the creature has gathered throughout its life. This makes it a highly valuable resource as it can be used for the crafting of artifacts and alchemy as some cores possess attributes.
The cost of a magical artifact could not be compared to an ordinary tool. Only nobles, merchants, and adventurers would be able to acquire a magical tool.
Experience points seem to stay the same. Having obtained the magic crystal, I left the area. Blood would attract other creatures. I was also wondering if goblin blood will have any effect on me. I decided to consider it when I comes alone.
Now that I was thinking about the differences between beasts, it seemed odd to me that I could win a class like a normal human would, and the characteristic racial abilities of a monster.
Only races belonging to the command of the goddesses would be able to obtain a class. As for monsters, they can only evolve. Maybe I can get both since I don't belong to either side and my system would allow me to establish myself as a human. I'd find out the moment I got my first circle.
That's the requirement to unlock the mage class and its abilities. It would also forcibly activate the class system. Users also had the option to reach level 15 to awaken a class. However, you lost a lot of time and extra attribute points that the system gives you for unlocking it earlier.
As for evolution, I still don't know the method. A monster is said to reach the first evolution to level 10. This is a good thing for me. I was already halfway to achieving it.
