Chương 47: Back to the guard duty

"So, here is the plan. Your magic is pretty much depleted, so you can guard the borders and take a rest here while I am planning to jump that wall and hunt some normal-tier beasts. What do you say?" Ben asked, using a stick to draw his plan on the ground.

Freya looked spaced out for a few seconds. She then looked at the concrete wall before looking at Ben again. "Why do you want to kill monsters so badly?"

"Because I want beast cores—a lot of them. I only have 4 right now; I need at least 100." Ben explained, keeping his system thing a secret. Other than that, the system also advised him to hide his identity as a vampire.

Not because people hated vampires, but more because in this world, vampires are as legendary as finding unicorns. If they find one, it is probably going to be a lab experiment or a creature in a zoo somewhere.

"Then I will go along; I can fight as well." Freya began to stretch her body.

"But won't that be problematic? If we both go, who will guard the walls?" Ben asked, scratching his head in frustration, "And even if you do go, your magical powers are─ oh wait!"

Ben exclaimed, but before he could complete his sentence, Freya began to climb the wall.

"Shhh! I can sense a little energy." Freya signaled Ben not to make noise as she slowly climbed up the wall.

Ben too followed; with his abnormal physique, climbing a 10-meter wall was just child's play. He too activated his blood vision and looked at the energy sources on the other side of the walls.

"Those are goblins, approximately 15 of them," Freya said in a hushing voice. Ben too could sense the reddish-black energy, but he didn't know how Freya found out about the goblins. Since they were still far from the walls, they were hiding in the forest.

"I wonder what they are doing in there." Ben pondered, scratching his temples.

[ They are probably digging a tunnel to get inside the village or designing some traps. ]

"No idea, goblins are unpredictable," Freya responded.

"Well then, let's go ask them!" Ben said smiling widely, uncaring about his camouflage he directly jumped from the wall, towards the trees.

As he was about to land, he swiftly grabbed hold of steam and jumped to the next one followed by another.

"How is he doing that?" Freya looked in surprise before she too slowly descended the wall and ran towards the goblins.

"Woohoo, I am fucking tarzen now bitches!" Ben shouted in excitement, as he let go of the stem and directly landed on a goblin's body, pinning it to the ground.

"Schreechchchchcccchhhh!!" The goblin screamed, but soon a spear passed through its head, ending its life.

"Inferno Stringer, maximum capacity"

-Blood Bullet-

Ben chanted without wasting any time, pointing his palm in a direction. In an instant, a fiery red aura materialized in front of his palm, about the size of a bullet, before it was engulfed in yellow flames, making it appear golden in color.

"Bang"

With a shooting sound, the blood bullet left Ben's hand and hit the blurry figure, which was moving towards the girl. It all happened so fast that the silver-haired girl could only feel blood splatter on her clothes, followed by the sound of a lifeless body falling to the ground.

"Shrek"

A lot of screams sounded from the bushes. Seeing their comrade die and knowing that camouflage was no use, the goblins chose to face the battle head-on instead, stepping out of the bushes.

In a hurry, Ben chanted again, this time shooting two blood bullets from both hands. One found its mark, inflicting a burning wound on a goblin's chest, while the other missed its target.

"Can you guys stop running and die peacefully?" Ben asked, with a frown on his face, as he leaped towards the goblins to face them head-on.

With an ancient spear in his hand, he begged, chasing the goblins towards the walls. This was also the same direction Freya was coming from.

"The famous hammer and anvil from Goblin Slayer, hehe," Ben smirked, looking at Frey's range.

Deep Inhale

Basic Magic: Wind Blade

Before Ben could get involved in the battle, the silver-haired girl swung her wooden sword in the air, and translucent waves of wind blades hit two of the goblins midway.

The goblins were humanoid-looking creatures, green in color, and about 4 feet tall. From afar, they might look fragile and malnourished, but their tough skin, high IQ, and persistence are what make them one of the most vital enemies for newbie adventurers.

The goblin was hit by the wind blade, causing a deep wound but not fatal. However, one of the goblins managed to run past the wind blades and sneak behind Freya.

Before Freya knew it, she felt a sharp pain in her left leg, making her kneel on the ground. The wooden sword in her hand dropped as she saw a goblin from the front, in the air, jumping towards her.

The silver-haired girl froze for a moment. Looking at the goblin's face—the wide smile, the menacing gaze—she tried to move, but her leg was temporarily numb, an expected effect of poison from the goblin's claws.

At the moment, she was about to cast a makeshift water barrier. A sharp sound, like an arrow tearing through the air, passed next to her head. And a white spear peered directly through the goblin's heart.

"Look at that; I am slowly getting the hang of it." Just as the spear pierced through the goblin, Ben, without thinking twice, grabbed the spear's other end and swung it around, along with the goblin pinned to it.

'So this is how it feels to be physically stronger,' Ben thought as he swung his body to make a round kick toward a goblin's leg. Bending it at an unnatural angle up until the moment of contact.

'This is much stronger than the body in my past life. As if I can easily do the moves from those martial arts movies, if not better." Ben thought, a sharp smile on his face, as he lept towards the fallen goblin and hit its head with his short sword he picked up from Ray's warehouse.

Without wasting any seconds, Ben instantly backflipped from the ground, avoiding a claw attack, as he pointed his palm towards another goblin.

-Blood Bullet-

Ben cast another bullet, directly hitting the goblin in the skull and ending its life. A kill notification sounded on his status screen. One from the burning effect of the Ancient Spear.

[HP: 98/100; BE: 79/100 ]

The silver-haired girl, still kneeling on the ground, could just see a killing machine in action, devouring its does without a tinge of hesitation.

"What spell is that? Is that fire magic, but I don't recall reading anything like it before?" She muttered, observing Ben's blood bullet skill, which appeared as flame magic since it was coated by an inferno stringer.

Ben picked up his ancient spear again and stabbed it through a goblin's throat while punching it twice in the head to end its life.

Ben Un-summoned his weapons to his inventory as he walked toward the silver-haired girl on the ground.

"Shrek!" The last goblin is acting dead. Screamed as it jumped towards Ben.

"You should have laid dead," Ben smirked as he grabbed the goblin by the head in midair. He glared at the goblin, who was struggling against his grip.

-Blood Bullet-

[HP: 98/100; BE: 73/100 ]

Ben chanted, and with a blasting sound, a splash of blood rose from the goblin's blackhead as its struggle stopped, and its body went lifeless.

"See, I told you, you need to recover your magic first," Ben stated the obvious, helping Freya to stand up. "You can climb the wall back up, right?" He asked, but Freya didn't need to answer as Ben's question was answered in a few seconds.

"Heal," she chanted, and the cut marks on her legs slowly began to fade—not completely, but barely a scratch now.

Looking at Ben's surprised expression, Freya thought it would be well to explain herself: "In elves, we receive blessings from the world tree; this grants us the ability to communicate with nature or use some of nature's powers."

"Oh well, that sounds good, whatever that was," Ben responded. Still clueless about the whole magic thing, he began to climb the wall back up.
