Chương 18: Awakening...
His brain had mapped out his entire body's pathways. Having experienced his before and read anatomic research, Dante's advantage in information can allow to increase the success rate even if it's just a little bit.
An awakener is a more spiritual kind of body that overlaps within your true body reinforces the true one. At first it starts with light changes to the body and inner workings slowly moving outwards with more drastic changes the higher you climb.
To a awakener there are 3 main parts they would need to keep track of:
- Their Essence, it is essentially a clump of energy located within the mind that everyone is born with. It has the shape of a flower and dictates the potential and state of mind an awakener would have when awakening.
- Their mana heart and veins, the clearer or stronger these are the more effective the flow of mana around their body would be.
- Their aperture, this is the main storage for the pool of mana they would use in their body. The mana within could change colour depending on rank. The stronger the techniques an awakener uses the more mana is consumed from within. It's important to realise the aperture does not grow but as they rank up the quality of mana increases instead.
As Dante calmly went over the procedure in his head blue particles began to exit the now glowing bright orb. At first it was small amounts but after a few minutes large particles were exiting and flying over Dante's body.
A drop of cold sweat fell from Dante's head as he tried to focus. Each blue particles were now hovering around him.
Suddenly, they shot down looking to enter Dante's body. He holds down and grits his teeth at the terrifying pain. A normal man would have already collapsed, but Dante's mentality was heavily fortified from his harsh experiences in his old life.
Each particles felt like drills as they forcibly went inside him. His muscles were constantly contracting and spasming as each particle dove deep. He knew this was not the worst part however so he began to brace for what will happen soon.
'The path to heaven starts with a single step'
Dante's breathing was getting erratic. It was starting to get out of control as the natural mana which had burrowed deep within his muscles and skin began to buzz and shake.
He focused on getting his breathing back into control as the feeling having thousands of microscopic needles within himself began to stabilise.
A deep breath came into Dante's lungs as the next stage began. The mana now began to penetrate his internal veins and organs.
Dante gritted his teeth as pain increased drastically. It was as if a his mind was under the pressure of a deep and heavy sea.
After enduring the torturous feeling for over 10 minutes, there was a brief moment where he felt it.
Through the sea of pain came a light of hope.
His meridian points were opening up. The mana drilled through the closed veins and slowly burst through, forcing an opening in each point.
He could feel it within his veins, the cold flow of mana as it began to course around his body, destroying blocked points quicker and quicker.
Once the final blocked point was destroyed the pain subsided and entered it's final stage. This was where most concentration was required as it would decide the success or failure of the awakening.
Dante had used about 60% of his mentality and energy to deal through the pain. He had hoped to keep about 50-60% left yet it didn't go his way. He would just need to adapt to the current situation. With more preparation things could have gone better but there is no room for regrets as he did the most he could with 2 weeks.
His intake and outflow of air was stable. The sweat increasing as his body tried to rapidly cool him down from the incredible heat his awakening was producing. Each awakener was basically a living disaster as they held powers which could rival nuclear weapons once a certain rank was achieved.
The ground below him began to crack a little from the force created within his body as slight pieces of dirt and stone rose up.
The mana was now merging with his cells as Dante tirelessly tried to visualise the concept.
He could feel the swirling particles within his mind, it was his disoriented essence which began to form together. It slowly began to take the shape of a lotus in half bloom with white light shaping the outline of the flower shining within the conscious mind.
The formation of his nature and aptitude had been completed.
In Dante's stomach, however, the creation of his aperture had began.
The mana started to build a phantom like sphere within his abdomen it was plane black and thin. The particles piled on top of each other slowly making the thin walls thicker and thicker until they reached a certain length.
It seemed flimsy at first however it could hold a large size of mana within. The mana is represented as flowing liquid, the mana which had entered from the veins began to pour inside emptying the veins as a new sources of mana entered from the particles within the air.
The aperture slowly filled up until it was about 80%. At this point the cells had almost finished merging with the mana. The orb was no longer glowing as it had been drained completely and Dante was releasing the largest amount of heat it was as if he was holding in molten lava.
The cracks in the ground grew further as more particles gravitated towards him. If this was done in the normal method, the effects would be much less as it would have been minimised greatly.
When the cells completely finished merging, the mana within began to change it's colour into a dark green shade. It was the standard mana colour for F/First realm awakeners.
The shades of the wall in his aperture and healthy mana veins began to change as well into this dark green shade. The walls became slightly more thicker and more firm when it was finally completed.
Dante's breathed out a huge breath of hair as his body rapidly cooled down.
It was a success. He had managed to form all 3 cores and open all meridians for cultivation, all with no help.
He opened his eyes and saw a fried orb with a burnt pillow Infront of him.
"HAHAA"
Dante gave a maniacal laugh as he looked up in satisfaction.
"It succeeded... MY RISKS HAVE PAID OFF!"
He was once again at the threshold of a new world. The world of awakeners. Only about 30% of the population becomes an awakened, he was now part of the minority.
Dante tries to stand up but fails in his attempt instead falling over backwards. He struggled to lift his arm up as he looked down upon his body.
It was completely tattered and burnt. There was a major amounts of tears leaving bleeding muscles and burns which melted most of his clothes and left it in tatters.
"Shit..."
His entire body had taken the impact of the awakening leaving behind massive damages to his physical body. Luckily it seemed his inner organs were fine as well as bones.
It would take more than 5 years to recover naturally for this even with the help of some basic awakeners...
Yet it mattered not for Dante.
A cold smile formed on his face once more as he knew of a solution for this. Which should arrive at any moment now...
DING!
The sound in his head... There it was.

Dante listened carefully to each word the system said.
"It took me almost 2 more years to reach this stage in my previous life."
"Watch as I reach the peak of this world now."
The room was dark and empty, the light previously left on was demolished completely from the large energy shifts when awakening.
In the darkness lay Dante, his crimson red eyes wide awake, silently thinking about his plans. His entire physique was leaking his blood as a small puddle began to slowly form around him.
There will be many powerful creatures in this world and hidden entities. He no longer just had to worry about monsters but other awakeners too. All actions would have consequences and he had to be careful and cautious.
'Trust is a luxury I cannot afford. For in this cruel world betrayal runs deep.'
After 5 minutes his mental rest was over, there was one more thing left to do: Claim his reward.
"System..."
"I choose to directly claim the rewards."
"Start the first body modification..."
