Serena looked at her hands, extremely baffled. Yesterday her nails looked a bit long, and sort of pointed - not unexpected, it was probably a symptom of whatever Warping she was developing. But today, her hands looked ordinary, exactly like a normal person's, but they felt weird.
Slowly she clenched them into fists, and watched as thin needles extended out from under the nails and pricked her palms. It was like a cat's claws, but much sharper.
Carefully Serena wriggled her toes, and watched as similar claws caught threads from the carpet. It gave her an odd tugging sensation, but there was no discomfort.
Unlike Carlos had said, Serena had not been showing the common symptoms - perhaps the magic concentration was too high, so they got skipped? She could hope, right? The other alternative is that the delayed symptoms will be more intense, and Serena feels scared just thinking about it.
Another thing she had noticed was a protruding pimple in an awkward place on her arse. It seemed to get bigger every day, and sensitive to any touch. It was starting to make sitting down uncomfortable.
The final oddness Serena had discovered was an intermittent itch on either side of her spine. It wasn't a skin itch, but something deeper inside, and no matter what Serena tried she couldn't fix it. It was so annoying it made her eyes hurt!
Just like they were doing right now... Serena looked in the mirror, and found her eyes had changed colour subtly to a slightly yellow hue. The pupil was also starting to get cat shaped.
Serena blinked, and suddenly her eyes were normal again, and the itch in back had vanished away.
In the end, it left her feeling baffled and worried. Other Warped didn't have these symptoms - so what is this?
