The following day, after contemplating throughout the previous night, Xavier resolved to challenge and defeat all the NPCs present on Route 11.
He proceeded directly to Route 11, a thoroughfare connecting Vermilion City and Lavender Town. Numerous NPCs were poised for battles along the route.
Among them, Xavier singled out a trainer with a level 21 Voltorb and a level 22 Magnemite, and he initiated a battle. The NPC released their Voltorb while Xavier responded by sending out his Nidoking.
In a clash between Voltorb and Nidoking, Voltorb's electric attacks were nullified by Nidoking's ground immunity. Nidoking's Poison Tail and Peck hit the mark, wearing down Voltorb. Despite Voltorb's efforts with Swift and Rollout, Nidoking's strength prevailed. The battle culminated in Nidoking's Poison Tail, securing victory.
Xavier chose to keep Nidoking in the battle, and the NPC deployed his Magnemite.
However, Magnemite met the same fate as its electric-type moves were ineffective against Nidoking's ground typing. Consequently, Nidoking emerged victorious without much difficulty.
Continuing his determined efforts, Xavier dedicated the entire day to battling, diligently ensuring he also visited the Pokémon Center to restore his team's strength.
After a persistent span of four hours, he successfully triumphed over every NPC, thus accomplishing the task he had set out to complete. The only remaining challenge was the task related to infiltrating the cruise ship.
Deciding to stay within Route 11, Xavier focused on both uncovering hidden items and engaging with wild Pokémon. He carefully scanned the area for any potential encounters that might capture his attention.
As the sun began its descent, he bid farewell to Route 11 and made his way back to the Pokémon Center. Entrusting his Pokémon to Nurse Joy's care for rejuvenation, he rented a room to recharge himself.
With only seven days remaining to fulfill his final task, Xavier was surprised by how the pace had shifted. Initially, he had anticipated a more extended timeline to complete two tasks, but the unexpected evolutions of his Pokémon had significantly strengthened his team. Now a united and formidable force, they faced challenges head-on.
Xavier's efforts bore fruit once again, as he discovered a Moon Stone, an invaluable item that could potentially facilitate more evolutions in the future. The intensive training sessions had yielded remarkable results: Kadabra had elevated its level by three, Nidoking by two, and Primeape by an impressive two levels as well.
These leveling gains brought along new moves to complement their enhanced abilities. Nidoking, in its pursuit of strength, acquired Bulldoze, a ground-type move. Kadabra, attuning its psychic powers, mastered Psycho Cut, expanding its arsenal of techniques.

Firstly, he had a window of time available, providing an opportunity to tackle the gym without the looming pressure of other tasks. Secondly, an ominous feeling had crept over him whenever he pondered the cruise ship task. This unease, though vague, made him reluctant to approach it immediately.
Focusing on his strategy, Xavier recognized that his Pokémon needed further strengthening, and challenging the gym seemed the most effective approach. The gym would offer formidable opponents, allowing his team to gain valuable experience and training. The tougher the opponent, the greater the learning opportunity for his Pokémon.
