Before Leon went to the black market, he asked Toshi to transform into a jester's mask and then wore it. Next, he asked Gastly to hide in his shadow to alter his life signature. Even when one hid his face or wore a disguise, people could still identify a person through their life's signature. Ghost type pokemon were always sensitive to life force, so they could tell people apart. Gastly's alteration with Leon's life signature would make him safe from low level thugs and they wouldn't be able to track him down, unless some big shot would target him.
Leon arrived at a Pokemon Daycare Center. When he entered, an elderly woman sarcastically greeted him, "Good evening, Sir. I am sorry but we are closed for the day. As you can see from the sign outside, we are a "daycare" center."
"Blast off at the speed of light," Leon replied.
She immediately perked up while she grabbed a knife and a pokeball and said, "Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth! That's right!" Leon answered the password.
After a moment of silence, the elderly woman opened a trap door beneath the counter and gestured Leon to follow her. They entered a small room with chairs and a table.
"Are you here to buy, sell or both?" she asked as she gestured Leon to sit down.
"Both. I have a few pokemon of A rank potential that I would like to sell. I have one Heracross, one Pinsir, three Oddish and two Pidgey. Again, all of them at A rank potential," Leon said while taking all out seven pokeballs.
"Seven A ranks??" The elderly woman looked surprised. Finding a pokemon with an A rank potential was difficult as most of them were very elusive and it was impossible to identify them out in the wild. She thought that the person in front of her must be an errand boy of a bigshot.
"I am sorry, Sir, but we need to verify your goods' potential. Rest assured that if they are indeed A ranks, we would include them in tonight's auction. We would even give you an invitation to participate. You don't have to worry about the checking fee because it will be free of charge," she said as she took all the pokeballs. Leon just nodded.
A few minutes later, Leon was informed that all of his pokemon had indeed an A rank potential and would be included in the list for the night's auction. Leon was handed an invitation for the event. The elderly woman led and guided him to where the event would be held. They walked down a hallway and arrived at room. It was huge and had a center stage. There were already people seated and waiting. He was given a seat number and the woman gave him her contact information in case he had more goods to sell before she left.
As he waited, Leon didn't dare to use his aura or psychic abilities to probe the participants. He feared that he might offend some big shot among them. He wanted to remain low key until he would get stronger.
