It didn't take long for thetwo of them to arrive at Night's house, which was actually located pretty close to the edge of the lake at the centre of the town. The house was relatively large, and from what Aaron had been told, the house had four total rooms. One being Night's bedroom, the main room where the kitchen and lounge area was, and the third was used for storage.
The final room was the guest room that Night was going to be letting Aaron use, which he was thankful for as he wouldn't exactly have anywhere else to go. Since they were going to be forming a rescue team together, it wouldn't hurt to live together as communicating for things like missions would be far easier than having to run to one another all the time.
Though, that's saying that they actually manage to pass the upcoming exam.
As they had made their way to the house, Aaron took notice mainly to the countless different pokemon that were living in the city. There were a few that he managed to recognise, though most of them he was just totally clueless about. He could have sworn he saw a bouncing apple at one point.
"So, your sister is also forming a rescue team?" Aaron asked curiously as the both of them were currently eating a simple meal that Aaron managed to put together with what Night had in his fridge. Well, it was more like an eski as it was just a large box with a bunch of ice in it, and it even kept the coldness inside.
It seemed that the world they lived in here ate other pokemon on the daily basis, though it wasn't all pokemon. From what Night had told him, there were some few that were labelled as 'mindless', which was becaused they didn't seem to hold any form of ability to think rationally and only act like wild beasts. These were the ones they ate here in this world.
From what Night had explained about them, they were all mainly wandering in the non-civilised areas, and also prominently within the mystery dungeons. Which brought clarity to Aaron about why there were so many pokemon in that forest that were trying to kill them, they were these 'mindless' ones.
"Yeah. We both have the same goals and such of forming a team, she invited me to form a team together with her, but I kind of wanted to start my own." Night explained as Aaron nodded his head. "We live separately from one another as we both already thought ahead of time that we'd want to probably live with each of our respective teams."
"Oh, so like how the both of us are right now."
"Yeah. Pretty much. If my sister and I lived together, boy would I never get any sleep. She snores louder than a snorlax and can be heard throughout the entire house." Night rolled his eyes as he stated this. Though, he soon paled a bit. "D-Don't tell her I said that if you end up meeting her!"
"Hehe, don't worry. I can keep my mouth shut." Aaron smiled in amusement as he saw the expression that Night had just made. Aaron then looked at the wooden fork in his hand before looking at Night. "I'm psychic-type as well, right? So, how exactly would I go about using my psychic powers? I know you're a dark-type, but you would probably have a better idea than me..."
"Well, from what my sister has told me..." Night muttered as he glanced up a bit at the ceiling as he seemed to be pondering a bit. He then looked at Aaron. "You kind of need to use your imagination. Imagine there's some kind of invisible connection between you and what you're trying to do. Such as lifting objects and stuff... I can't really remember."
"Connection?" Aaron frowned as he placed his fork down. He stared at it for a few seconds before shrugging, might as well give it a try. He focused on the fork, imagining a blue line connecting the both of them. It took a second, but the fork soon started floating upwards at a steady pace. "Huh, easier than I thought..."
"Seems like it..." Night blinked in surprise as he saw Aaron's eyes glowing blue along with the fork, which was still hovering in the air. As he was doing this, he could feel a strange energy inside of him fluctuating. He could only assume it was some kind of psychic power, though he was uncertain. "Can you lift yourself?"
"I'll try..." Aaron responded as he calmly got up from his seat and stood a bit away. He stood still for a second before his eyes flashed bright blue once again, to which his entire body soon began giving off a glow before slowly lifting off of the ground. He managed to raise and lower himself a few times before dropping back to the ground. "That was much harder than moving the fork. Probably cause I have way more mass."
Aaron could feel that this psychic energy inside of him was way more unstable compared to when he was lifting the fork, though it wasn't unbearably uncomfortable. He was sure if he practiced, he could definitely get better at this. Though, he doubted he would ever use his psychic powers to get to places faster, unless he learns Teleport or something.
He could tell that he could most likely run way faster than he could move if he used Psychic on himself, not considering the fact that his energy seemed to be depleting way faster when using his psychic power. The only time he would probably use this psychic power for transport was when going to high places that he can't reach on his own, or if he decides to learn Teleport.
"Most likely. I can ask my sister if she can help you out."
"I see, thanks. Also, speaking of which..." Aaron started as he walked back on over before taking a seat in his chair and picking up his fork again. "Even though humans turning into pokemon doesn't seem to be too crazy anymore here, I still want you to keep it a secret that I used to be a human."
"Really? Why?"
"Well, there can be a number of issues that can happen when you tell someone that. From what you told me, the occurence of this happening isn't at all common in the slightest, so if someone were to hear about it, you can already know the unwanted attention it would bring to me."
"Ah~, I get it. I totally understand. No worries, you can count on me to keep it a secret!" Night assured as he gave the fighting/psychic-type a smile. Aaron nodded his head in thanks as they both continued to finish their meals. "Man, you really know how to cook! Is this a kind of food that you humans eat?"
"Quite a lot of us do, yeah. They're simply known as Fish Cakes." Aaron shrugged as Night took another bite while smiling. "Though, I didn't have the normal fish I'm used to using. What was that pokemon that I used for this dish anyways?"
"Hm? Oh, it was a basculin! Majority of them are mindless creatures, though there are a few that aren't. Though, the number is very limited." Night explained as Aaron nodded in response. "Pokemon generally eat them after they're cooked. We never thought of using them like how you did though."
Aaron had noticed while they were coming here that he didn't see any incredible diverse dishes as they had passed by a number of restaurants. Most of them had very basic items, nothing crazy at all. Though, he even saw a bakey that was selling bread and other basic things. The fact that these pokemon thought of making these simple foods was impressive enough.
Though, it seems that he'd probably have to cook own food if he wanted to be eating different varieties of interesting dishes. He didn't always feel like just eating bread, simple cooked meat and more for his entire life. He needed variety.

Both Night and Aaron were now seen walking through the town, Night had taken the liberty to start giving Aaron a tour of the place. From what he has seen so far, the town was pretty relaxing as all the pokemon living here seemed to be minding their own business.
There were all kinds of pokemon around, most of which he didn't know the identities of. They all seemed to live a civilised life similar to how humans do, though the technology around the place was completely non-existent. The place didn't even seem to have gone through it's own industrial revolution yet.
Though, while the walk was mostly peaceful, Aaron couldn't help but notice something that had honestly started bugging him quite a bit after a few minutes. "Hey, Night... is there a particular reason as to why so many of the townspeople are staring at me?"
"Hm? Oh, about that..." Night voiced as he soon noticed the stares that Aaron was getting. The stares weren't at all hostile in any way, they were more of curiosity and confusion then anything. "You see, there aren't any gallade living here in the town. So, your appearance probably caught their attention. There are ralts, kirlia and gardevoir here, though the numbers aren't really high."
"I assume my species is hard to come across?"
"Yeah. Even outside of the town, it's rare for people to see any of your evolutionary line about." Night answered as Aaron nodded in response. He understood that their minds were as curious to new things as humans were, but it was getting annoying feeling all their stares directed at him.
Not only that, he had been getting this strange impulse of thoughts. He wasn't sure if he was going crazy or something, but he felt as if he could somewhat sense and guess what the people around him were thinking about, mainly about him. It was weird. Maybe it was something to do with being a gallade, he wasn't sure.
"Aside from that though, you said that the exams to become an official rescue teams is in two weeks or something?" Night just nodded his head in response to the question. "Do you know what kind of exam that it's going to be? Or is it random?"
"The first part of the exam is always a written test from what I have been told, and the second part is always something practical. However, the practical part of the exam is usually always something different." Night explaned as Aaron listened intently. "I have all the books that we need to cover the material for the written test, so we can study that later."
"That's good." Aaron nodded. While he did have some knowledge on pokemon, it was still limited to a good degree. He didn't mind studying at all, mainly due to the fact that he had a rather incredible memory. Not to the point that it would be considered photographic, though still much better than average people. "It's being held... where?"
"The location generally changes every time. This year, it's being held here at Starlake Town. So, in the coming two weeks, we should probably be expecting a number of other teams from different places arriving here to take the exam. It's going to be pretty damn lively."
"I see, should be interesting." Aaron nodded as he heard this. If becoming a rescue team here in this world was really such a big deal, then it made sense for people to come all the way to another town just to take part in an exam. The fact that the exam only happened once a year also added to that. "What the...?"
Both Night and Aaron stopped their walking as both of them noticed some kind of commotion happening up ahead, and it also seemed to catch the attention of a few of the other pokemon around the area as well.
Looking ahead, they could see three figures in the distance, which was a few meters away from their position. Aaron recognised one of them to be an espeon while the other two were a sandslash, and the other one was not one that Aaron could identify.
They could see that the espeon was pretty damn annoyed as the two pokemon were surrounding her. From what they could hear right now, it seemed that the two were trying to flirt or something with the espeon, much to the psychic-type's irritation.
"Oh boy, here we go again..."
"You know them?" Aaron asked with a raised eyebrow as he saw Night rub his forehead with one of his front paws. It was obvious to him that Night had seen this situation happen before, considering the fact that he said 'again'.
"Yep, the espeon there is my sister. I don't really know the other two that well, but that geodude is quite the damn troublemaker here in town, and that sneasel there is no different." Night responded with a sigh as he stared at the scene with a deadpanned look on his face.
'So, that other pokemon is a sneasel...' Aaron thought to himself as he watched the situation unfold. He felt this urge to help the espeon for whatever reason, but he decided against it as it seems that the psychic-type probably didn't need it considering the rather unconcerned look on her face. "Is she going to be alright?"
"Oh, there's nothing to worry about. She's been dealing with this type of thing for a while now, she has a rather short temper for those that try to force themselves onto others. She's fine with flirting, as long as it isn't the bad kind."
"I see..."
They both continued to watch as the two pokemon continued to flirt with the espeon, which they could see she was getting more annoyed by the second. It didn't take long before she fired what appeared to be a beam of psychic power from the gem on her head towards the sneasel.
The sneasel was surprised by the sudden attack that it didn't manage to dodge in time, thus being hit right in the face and falling to the ground in pain. The sandslash seemed pretty annoyed by this. "Oi, stop playing so damn had to get! Looks like I need to teach you a lesson!"
The espeon continued to stare with annoyance no sign of any concern as the sandslash fired a number of small jagged rocks from its hands towards the espeon. The sneasel got up with an angered looked before large ball of ice towards the espeon as well.
Night's sister just gave a sigh before dodging both attack with ease and elegance, much to the two pokemon's chagrin. However, the sound of screams from the surrounding pokemon could be heard as the espeon looked back to see both attacks heading straight towards where Night and Aaron were standing.
"Watch out!"
"W-Woah!" Night blinked in surprise as he wasn't expecting the sudden attack to come flying towards them. Aaron was surprised as well, though soon narrowed his eyes before stepping forwards as he reeled both arms backwards.
He seemed to act immediately as he began pummeling down all of the stones that were sent their way. He was a bit surprised to feel that his hands weren't hurting at all from doing this. If he was still a human, then his knuckles would be very much damaged by doing this.
"Aaron!"
"...!" He widened his eyes as he saw the large ball of ice heading towards him. He quickly reeled his right fist back after finishing off the rest of the stones, to which he then swung his fist right into the ball of incoming ice. "Wh-What the...!"
"That's Fire Punch!" Night shouted in surprise as they all could see powerful flames enveloping Aaron's right hand. When the fist connected with the ball of ice, the ball immediately shattered into tiny pieces that flew all over the place. Some steam also having been produced from the collision as well.
Aaron looked at his blazing fist in surprise, though gave a small smirk. He hadn't even done this with the intent to, he was just aiming to destroy the ball, which he managed to do so, though he didn't expect to do so with a Fire Punch. It seemed that what Night said was true, sometimes they just learn how to do moves through complete instinct.
He was pretty sure that he might have been able to stop the attacks if he focused his psychic power, though he didn't exactly think of that until he started moving. Plus, he wasn't completely confident in his ability to do so just yet. Hitting them down was the best course of action at that moment.
All of the pokemon nearby were surprised by his fast movements, the fact that he managed to destroy all of those attacks without even missing was incredible. Night's sister stared wide-eyed for a second before using Psychic to throw both the sandslash and sneasel far away before rushing over towards Night and Aaron.
"Night!"
"Oh, hey, Celine." Night greeted as he saw his sister running on over to them. He was just making sure to check if Aaron was okay after the little event, which he was indeed totally fine. The espeon stopped in front of them as Night added. "So, still being flirted with, huh?"
"Obviously..." Celine sighed as she responded to her brother's words. She then turned her attention upwards to Aaron, who had just arms crossed. "So, who is this, Night? A new friend of yours? Can't really say I've seen any gallade around the town."
"Yep! This is my new friend Aaron." Night smiled as he gestured towards said person. Night then gestured back towards his sister while turning to look at Aaron. "This here is my sister I told you about, Aaron."
"Nice to meet you. As you know, my name is Aaron." Aaron gave a small polite bow as the espeon smiled and nodded her head before responding. "Nice to meet you as well, Aaron. My name is Celine, I hope my brother hasn't been any trouble for you. I know how he can get."
"Oi..."
"He's helped me out tons, there's no trouble at all." Aaron chuckled slightly as he responded. Celine nodded her head at this as Aaron decided to ask curiously. "From what I've been told by Night here, does this sort of thing happen all the time?"
"Pretty much, it's a real pain..." Celine deadpanned as she stated this. She had honestly lost count how many times random pokemon had come up to her and flirted with her, along with asking her to go out with them despite not even knowing one another. "Are you okay after that? I would hae dealt with them instantly if I knew that those attacks would have hit someone else."
"Oh, I completely fine. No need to worry." Aaron smiled as he showed his hands as proof. True to his words, his hands looked completely fine, pretty much as if nothing had happened to them at all. Celine nodded in relief as she heard this.
"Oh, Celine! I almost forgot, Aaron here is my new team member! He's going to be a part of the rescue team I'm forming." Night grinned as he stepped in. Celine blinked in surprise at this as she looked at Aaron for confirmation, which the male nodded his head to do so.
"So, you finally managed to find a teammate. A strong one at that. Just glad you managed to do so before the exams came up." Celine nodded her head as her brother smiled and nodded in response. "Is it just going to be the two of you, or are there more on the team?"
"Well, it's only us on the team at the moment." Night replied sheepishly as he chuckled slightly. "Though, I don't really want to just go up and ask some random pokemon to be apart of the team. If we find someone who might want to join, then that's great. Though, I don't really mind if it's only us two."
"That's fine too, but it will be better if you had more teammates."
"Yeah, yeah. I know."
"So, Aaron. Where are you from? I've never seen a gallade at all from around these parts, I've seen a few others of your evolutionary line, but not your species in particular." Celine wondered curiously as she looked Aaron up and down. She had met a few gardevoir in the past, so seeing the male counterpart was interesting.
"Umm, well..."
"The thing is...!" Night butted in, causing Celine to blink in confusion. "Aaron here doesn't really like to talk about his home, for person reasons..."
"Oh, I see... I apologise." Celine responded as she gave a bow in apology. Aaron just waved it off with a smile, which he also gave Night an appreciative nod. Night nodded back as well with a smile. Aaron felt bad for them lying to Celine, though he didn't want her to tell her about him being a human, or giving any hints towards it.
Well, maybe he might tell her in the coming future. Though, definitely not at the moment as there are way too many people around and he had no doubt in his mind that a good number of them probably had naturally good hearing capability.
