Chương 30: Chapter 30 End’s here

"Don't look at them; we can't engage with them right now."

Seeing Mia staring at Team Rocket, Gary spoke up to dispel her restless idea.

"I know, I just can't stand it. Team Rocket is right under our noses, but we can only hide in the shadows. It's so frustrating."

After being admonished by Gary, Mia calmed down, but she couldn't suppress her anger. It's normal for her to feel this way. After all, Team Rocket has been committing all sorts of evil deeds in recent years. They're notorious in the Kanto region, and whenever a trainer encounters them, they won't stand by idly.

"I understand how you feel. I also want to fight them. Besides, just because we're waiting and watching doesn't mean we have to let them go. Do you understand what I mean?" As a trainer, Gary also wanted to punish them severely, but they didn't know Team Rocket's strength. Plus, Aiko had warned them that the Team Rocket leader, called Matori, was very strong. If they act rashly, they may end up in a tough spot and lose more than they gain.

Hearing Gary's words, Mia nodded. So, the three of them continued to hide in the shadows, watching Team Rocket confront the Clefairy. For Team Rocket, who disturbed the ceremony, the Clefairy naturally glared at them with hostility, their eyes flashing with vigilance.

"It seems Clefairy already noticed that Team Rocket isn't up to any good; otherwise, they wouldn't be so cautious," Gary observed as he looked at the wary Clefairy.

"Ding!"

"It is detected that the host is about to encounter an elite team of Team Rocket. The following options are given first."

"Option 1: Evacuate Mt. Moon and detour to Cerulean City. You will be rewarded with a set of Pokémon feed."

"Option 2: Protect Clefairy and defeat Team Rocket. You will be rewarded with a random skill card."

Just as the three of them were secretly observing Team Rocket, the system prompt sounded in Gary's mind.

"It seems that a battle with Team Rocket is inevitable, but how should we intervene?"

Listening to the system prompt, Gary pondered.

Gary had a hunch that the system would act this way, but he hadn't figured out how to intervene.

"Gary, we can't wait any longer. If we delay, Clefairy will be in danger. I'll go distract Matori, and you two wait for the right moment to act. What do you think?"

What Gary was thinking, Aiko naturally didn't know. But in the current situation, if they don't act, Clefairy will be in danger, so Aiko decided to give it a try.

"You can try that, but let me handle the distraction. Don't you trust my strength? If I handle it, I can distract Matori more effectively. What do you think?"

Hearing Aiko's proposal, Gary shook his head. It wasn't that Gary didn't trust Aiko's strength; he just wanted to be absolutely sure. After all, his strength was much greater than Aiko's.

"Well..." Aiko hesitated for a moment at Gary's words, then nodded. "Okay, but be careful. Matori isn't easy to deal with."

"Leave it to me, don't worry," Gary said confidently.

So, they divided the tasks: Gary would distract Team Rocket, especially Matori, while Aiko and Mia protected Clefairy.

After everything was ready, Gary looked at Charmander: "Charmander, go ahead, use Flamethrower!" Charmander obeyed and quickly rushed out, spraying flames directly at Team Rocket.

Charmander's sudden appearance caused Team Rocket to stop their approach toward Clefairy and look at the Pokémon with caution.

"So you're here. Why hide and attack from the shadows? It's not like you," Matori said, looking around warily.

"Hiding? Sneak attacks? Isn't that your usual trick, Team Rocket? Why, are we not allowed to use it too?" Gary retorted as he emerged from the darkness, looking at Matori with a cold smirk.

"Who are you?" Matori asked, ignoring Gary's sarcasm, and just stared at him cautiously, afraid he might pull another trick.

"It doesn't matter who I am. Aren't you Team Rocket known for being fearless? Why are you so scared of a simple sneak attack? This isn't like you."

When it came to sarcasm, Gary might not be as sharp as Mia, but he was more than capable of handling Team Rocket.

"Oh?" Matori wasn't an ordinary Team Rocket member. Despite Gary's sarcasm, she remained unfazed. "Since you know we're Team Rocket, you dare to show yourself? You're pretty bold. But being bold is one thing; do you really think you can take us on?"

"Whether I can or not, you'll know after we try. Charmander, Flamethrower!"

Based on Aiko's understanding of Matori, she was always cautious. Gary knew he had to display enough strength to make her focus all her attention on him, which is why he had Charmander use Flamethrower right away.

"I underestimated you, but you don't think you can beat me just like this, do you?"

As expected, Charmander's strength surprised Matori, but she wouldn't back down and spoke in a tough tone.

"Why don't you try?" Gary shot back, not wasting any more words, and glanced at her with disdain.

"I hope you can still be so tough later. Go, Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!"

Angered by Gary's attitude, Matori sent out her Pikachu. Pikachu's speed was among the best of all Pokémon in the Kanto region. However, it was still slower than Charmander, who easily dodged its Thunderbolt attack.

Seeing this, Matori was visibly stunned. She hadn't expected Charmander to be so fast, and her face turned serious.

The two of them continued to battle, neither able to gain the upper hand.

"Kid, I have to admit you're pretty good, but this is where it ends. Pikachu, use Thunder!"

Impatient with the stalemate, Matori's eyes flashed with frustration.

"That's it?" Gary sneered. "I don't know where you got the confidence to think you can beat Charmander with a single move."

"Don't think I don't know you're stalling for time. You really think I'll let you?"

Matori didn't take Gary's sarcasm to heart. She just assumed he was stalling for time.
