Chương 8: Training and Friends No More
Aaron immediately made his way to the training grounds he had previously been at he then released Trapinch. It appeared and immediately took in its new surroundings. When it saw Aaron she immediately made her way to him and started rubbing up against his leg. Aaron laughed and rubbed her head and under her chin. He then pulled out a couple of berries he had scrounged up. She seemed delighted and instantly ate the berries.
"Such a little glutton. although it has been a couple days in her Pokeball and since she last ate. Sigh, I am going to have to find some way to make money before I can go on missions. Hopefully that Gym leader will give me a little bit of money. From what he said I am the last E-Rank trainer and all the others seemed to join a group of some kind. I wonder where Rachel, Alice, Zach and Claire went."
Aaron then used his watch to evaluate Trapinch again as he forgot her specifications.

Trapinch (Female)

Strength: Mid Junior
Moves: Sand Attack, Astonish, Laser Focus, Bite, Mud-Slap, Dig, Bug Bite(EGG) and Quick Attack (EGG)

"Haha, she is awesome now lets just work on some simple moves." They then moved to the practice dummy at the end of the field.
Aaron then commanded "Trapinch use Sand Attack at the dummy"
Trapinch was a little slow but one of her feet glowed slightly brown and hit the ground underneath it then a wide area sand attack covered the target and then it looked back at Aaron who had his jaw wide open expecting some praise. Aaron just absentmindedly petted Trapinch.
Aaron muttered "She seems to either have a lot of strength or has a knack for ground type moves." They went through all of her moves so Aaron could get an Idea of how they all worked compared from the animations from the game. He was surprised how fast Trapinch moved with quick attack it was very fast for a Trapinch but slow for any other Pokémon.
The thing that surprised him the most was that Trapinch somehow used Quick Attack in conjunction with dig to move even faster underground.
After they were done training the area around them was filled with dozen of holes. Aaron sighed and asked Trapinch to fill them with sand or dirt. This took her a while as she was very tired from showing off all of her moves. Aaron realized that she needed to work on her Stamina and how to safely digging in different environments that were not part of the desert.
He decided to take the D-Rank exam in four or five days. Trapinch already listened to him but he wanted to get the hang of using combinations of moves and get her stamina up. He also wanted to work on a ranged attack because all of her current moves required her to get close to her opponent. He thought of having her learn mud-shot because it is a little more advanced than mud slap but that was for another day.
Once they where done cleaning the place up Aaron pulled out the remaining of his berries and fed Trapinch. He then recalled her and made his way to the center where he used the machine to heal her. After which he immediately went to the Cafeteria to get his one free meal today.

When he was finished eating by himself he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see Zach who was wearing a red and black jacket followed by Claire and Rachel.
Aaron stood up and smiled while saying "How are you guys doing? It seemed we all passed our Ordeals."
But what greeted Aaron was a punch to his face. Aaron took the punch clear to the face he had seen it coming in the last second and turned his head so the blow would somewhat deflect. He didn't fall down but he ended hunched over.
Aaron slowly stood us and spat some blood on the ground. He then caught the other fist that was coming right at him. He then looked at Zach in his eyes and unconsciously released some pressure that made the atmosphere tense.
"What was that for Zach?" Aaron said in a low and sharp growl while staring down Zach who similarly had pure Anger in his eyes.
Zach "That's for touching my girl Bastard!! I told you to protect her and what did you do? You let her face the Desert by herself!!" He raised his voice and some of the other trainers perked up at the juicy gossip.
Claire "Zach Stop that isn't what happened!"
"Don't butt in Claire this is just between the two of us."
Aaron didn't back down and laughed "That's what this is about? Haha, I think you got the wrong Idea why don't you ask everyone else how they completed this exam. Just remember I pay back all my debts and I will be giving some interest " He spat more blood down and his food became covered in his blood.
Claire and Rachel winced while Zach chuckled darkly "Alright since I GOT THE WRONG IDEA. Why don't we settle this with a battle. Winner gets a free shot at the Loser."
Aaron just chuckled "Nah, I am good you can battle yourself or one of your so called friends. You should really keep it in your room though some people actually have to sleep. "
Zach "Yeah, that's what I thought. YOU ARE CREEP! DON'T you ever come near me or Claire again or this is just going to feel like nothing compared to what's next".
Aaron just smirked at that and said "Ill be waiting then."
Zach clenched his teeth in anger, spun around and stomped off dragging a red-eyed Claire behind him. She briefly met Aaron's gaze and silently mouthed the words "I'M SORRY" but still turned and followed Zach's lead.
Rachel just sighed and came up and sat down across from Aaron. She crossed her arms and laid her head on them seemingly depressed and worn out. Aaron just looked around at the various observers with a dark glint in his eyes. They just returned to their meals while others started to gossip.
Aaron looked down at his food that was spoiled by his blood and just went to throw it away. When he returned to his seat Rachel asked him "Can we talk in a more private spot?" while looking around at the numerous pairs of eyes that wandered to them.
Aaron silently nodded and followed her out.

The two of them arrived at a open training area with a bench. It was still light outside but no one was around.
Aaron just sat on the bench while he closed his eyes and leaned back. Rachel came shortly after and sat on the bench a little away from Aaron.
Aaron spoke with annoyance "So what happened?"
Rachel "I don't know the whole story but after the day of the Ordeal only 30ish trainers came back alive. All of our group made it except for you and Claire.
I think Zach was already stressed by his ordeal and Claire not returning it crushed him.
After he broke down and Alice tried to get through to him. He told how he was trekking in the caves after he split from the girl partner that left the same time he did.
He told us that he stumbled upon the girl conversing with another guy who was wearing a guild jacket who was supposed to protect her during the trial because of some deal. Instead they got into an argument and the guy tried to ...
Uh, you know. That." Rachel looked down seemingly embarrassed about the topic.
Zach said he was stunned and he froze up when he was about to help an very large Pokemon named Onix, seemingly charged at the two and ate them sending some blood on his face…."
Well that's what Alice and I pieced together when we where trying to calm him down. Then he eventually composed himself. He also said that this happened on his way back from catching his two Pokémon an Aron and a Zubat. He completed the Ordeal with a lot of time to spare and was seen as a good talent by the guilds.
Alice and I returned later as we finished at different times. Claire didn't come back, so he kind of just broke down. We calmed him down and reassured him that you all were coming back. Later when Claire arrived the next day, all cut and bruised up, he was ecstatic for her to be alive. Then with all of us she then recalled her Ordeal with great detail. So when she got to the part where you tackled her from behind Zach flew up in rage and didn't allow her to continue with the story.
Claire tried to calm him down saying it was a misunderstanding and you where trying to protect her. Sadly he didn't listen to her and started to get even more pissed from her defending you."
She exhaled and took a sip of water from her bottle.
"He searched everyday for you if you came back. Each time we tried to reason with him but he didn't want to hear it. He ended up training hard and became one of the first D-Rank trainers and was offered a very good deal with the Valor Guild. He was treated as one of their top prospects in this class along with the Class President. Now that I think about it Valor ended up with a lot of people from our class.
It also made him livid that Claire didn't follow him into Valor and instead went to Mystic. Apparently when she showed her White Vulpix and Swablu she was immediately offered to be a disciple of the Mystic Gym Leader. The gym leader has an Altaria and a Ice Type Nintailes..."
She exhaled "Basically he just found you and you know the rest."
Aaron was silent taking this all in and then sighed "Well I literally got released from the hospital last night but thanks for all the information. What about you and Alice? How are you two doing?"
Rachel smiled brightly at the question at this she then took out two Pokeball and released them. She said proudly "Meet Petilil and Happiny".
A small green bulb like Pokémon with leaves going on its head appeared along with a small round pink egg like Pokémon that where looking around curiously at Aaron."
Aaron smiled and got down on one knee and approached the two who seemed hesitant then changed their mind and ran and hugged Aaron. Aaron and Rachel where both surprised at this but Rachel continued. "These two cuties are my Pokémon. It was obvious that I was working on becoming a nurse so when I talked to Julie after the trial. She introduced me to a representative of the Joy family who lives in another City-State and was visiting the Center. They saw me as a medical Talent because I was able to find and befriend two very rare healing Pokémon during my ordeal."
She smiled sadly "But I am leaving tomorrow to move with the Merchant Caravan that is going back with the other City-State reps that came to recruit people here. There were only 4 that accepted offers from other cities during the Promotion day so most people decided to stay here. Alice, I and two other boys accepted offers from other cities. The two boys got offers from smaller cities as good talents and better benefits with a lot less competition than here.
Alice was offered from Elite Oak Dojo ran by the Oak family and left yesterday."
She looked over at Aaron to see any reaction but she could see nothing as he was turned away and still playing with her Pokemon.
She continued, "She caught a Chimchar near the cliffs off of the Eastern Gate. Apparently finding a Riolu was a big deal and caught the eye of many influential people. She was immediately ranked as an S-Rank talent. This actually made Alex and the rest of the class so jealous so they have been targeting our small group and trying to make us look bad every chance they get.
Zach is fine because he is in Valor where he has some friends from class, that and how he treated you in the Cafe… Claire …I don't know, she has been with Zach but she is also has become more reserved. She is quite popular in Mystic and among their trainers. Some people just like to gossip so don't be shocked if something happens based on what happened tonight."
Aaron smiled as he continued to play with her Pokémon before replying in a softer voice "Well thank you for letting me know. Maybe I will visit you all some day."
He looked up and smiled at her brightly with a hint of loneliness in his eyes. He stood up and dusted his pants off while he stretched. He calmly approached her and gave her a slight side hug. Making her face turn deep red because she had never been in such close contact with anyone except her younger brother.
Aaron then released the hug, turned around and waved leaving the words " I'll keep an eye on your friends when you leave."

Once she came out of her shock he was out of sight. Rachel sighed "Claire was right, I don't think he considers us as his friends." She sadly smiled remembering the warmth of the hug.
Her two Pokémon pulled on her jeans trying to cheer her up. She smiled a bit to them and gave them a large hug.
...
Little did they know that what she said was exactly what had happened when they left. Rumors where flying and it seemed Aaron was going to take the brunt of it.

Aaron just walked around the training fields for a bit trying to clear his head. He let Trapinch out of his Pokeball and silently walked around the open areas.
"Ha, why do I even bother with this kind things. The only reason I got to know them was because of Alice. Now that she is gone I don't really have the drive to care about them and what they think. I don't know what others experienced through their Ordeals but what I know is that in this world I am weak.
He looked at Trapinch who was looking at him questioningly. He smiled "But that's not going to be us forever. We need to set our feet down and take this Chaos by storm."

2 things for Discussion.
1) This story was just a short thing that I worked on so after I run out of already written chapters (12 or so). I will try to release every other day because my chapters are around 3000 words each and they take time to write.
2) I am trying to decide on a realistic team so if you all have any input please comment. 4-5 pokemon in this team.
