Chương 2: Chapter 3: Cleared of Suspicion, the Hextech Tank!

The speaker was Caitlyn.

The recent scene had left Caitlyn deep in thought.

Even without her Hextech gauntlets, Vi's strength far surpassed that of an ordinary man—yet it seemed this person before her had completely restrained her.

Moreover, even Piltover's latest police batons, equipped with rotating gears developed by Jayce, barely made Leroru flinch. Normally, even a non-lethal blow from such a baton would bring anyone to the ground.

In reality, during Leroru's arrest, he appeared unconscious, devoid of any awareness.

When Leroru awoke and displayed such power, Caitlyn was greatly surprised, even suspecting he might be from Noxus.

Yet despite his strength, Leroru made no attempt to escape or take hostages, as if he genuinely wanted to convince them he was not a criminal.

This unusual behavior made Caitlyn wary.

If this man really wasn't a criminal... the situation would take a complex turn, with trouble escalating in all directions.

But Caitlyn was not one to shy away from complications.

The last time, a misunderstanding had involved Vi, Ekko... and numerous innocents from both the upper and lower levels. Caitlyn would not let such an event repeat itself.

"What's your name?" Caitlyn asked coldly.

Though her tone remained icy, this shift allowed Leroru a sigh of relief.

"My name is Leroru."

"Leroru…" Caitlyn frowned. "Strange name. You're not from Piltover, are you?"

Leroru felt awkward for a moment, realizing his name did stand out in this city. In hindsight, he should have used an alias.

He diverted the conversation, saying, "Where I'm from doesn't matter... What matters is that I'm really not a criminal!"

Caitlyn was about to speak when Vi interrupted, skeptical.

"Caitlyn, you're not seriously thinking he isn't a criminal, right?"

Caitlyn hesitated, recalling past moments with Vi on the lower levels—Vi would often lead the way, gathering more intel than Caitlyn herself.

Leroru understood his situation.

Caitlyn trusted Vi, but Vi had reason to loathe him due to her unresolved issues with Jinx.

Now was the time for Leroru to take the initiative.

Summoning his courage, Leroru said, "I'm not a criminal. I'm a scientist from Piltover!"

His words startled everyone.

In Piltover, the title "scientist" held weight in this city that cherished science and innovation.

"You're from the Piltover Academy?" Caitlyn asked.

The Piltover Academy, founded by the renowned scientist Heimerdinger, had produced the likes of Jayce and Viktor. Scientists from this academy were considered the city's future, prompting Caitlyn to take his words seriously.

"I... I can't remember clearly…" Leroru stammered, weaving truth with fiction. "It's like I've lost some of my memory and can't recall much, but I truly am a scientist!"

Leroru insisted on his scientific background, despite his magical abilities. In places like Ionia or Shurima, being a mage might carry respect, but in Piltover, proclaiming oneself a mage was unwise.

Claiming to be a scientist, however, would earn the recognition he needed.

Caitlyn and Vi frowned, sensing a faint plausibility in his words, especially given his earlier unconscious state.

Still, as enforcers, Caitlyn and Vi couldn't shake their suspicion.

"You have any proof?" Vi questioned. "If you've lost your memory, could you really remember anything about science?"

Leroru responded urgently, "I only forgot part of my memory. I remember science just fine… Let me show you with some components. I can demonstrate!"

Nothing proved more convincing than direct action.

Though his system hadn't provided him scientific knowledge, Leroru didn't need it. He had been a robotics project leader before crossing over; building machines was second nature.

He simply had to integrate Piltover elements to validate his scientific identity.

For instance, Hextech.

Caitlyn and Vi walked out of the cell, speaking quietly in the hallway, likely deliberating.

After a few minutes, they returned, and Vi spoke up.

"What parts do you need? If your 'science' doesn't impress us, there won't be a second chance—you understand, right?"

Leroru nodded hastily, as Vi gestured to a guard to release him.

Under the time pressure, Leroru could only create something familiar: a self-driving vehicle with a mechanical arm.

With a few materials provided by Caitlyn and Vi, Leroru quickly assembled the parts—all harmless components.

Science had universal principles, and Piltover machines also relied on screws and gears. Leroru avoided any indication of his foreign origin.

Outside the cell, Caitlyn and Vi waited, giving him the focus and privacy that was standard for Piltover scientists.

Sweating, Leroru worked swiftly.

Attaching mechanical pieces, Leroru wished for extra hands.

He crafted a tank model vehicle, reasoning that innovation was the heart of Piltover science—and a bold design would better clear him.

After several minutes, he had a mini tank about the size of a basket.

However, without power, it was just a model.

So, Leroru infused it with Hextech energy.

Assuring himself no one was watching, he discreetly channeled ancient runes to the tank, enveloping it in energy. Blue light pulsed from within, transforming it into a Hextech tank.

Leroru's fate now depended on this Hextech creation.
