Chương 26: Gathering

"That's how Asim got me. He killed my aunt and all my friends I grew up with. I had the thought of killing him once but what will happen after that?" Kissa sighed as she leaned back with her hands on the floor.

"We both lost someone we care about." Cairo said as he remembered his mother's death. "But mine was because of those last kings."

"There must be a secret behind the bloodline. The ine my aunt refused to tell me. I guessed everything in that room in the temple belonged to the last Sorceress." Kissa rubbed her chin.

"All these stories point to her and maybe I can find something useful apart from those scrolls in that room."

"And how do you plan on going there? Remember the effect it had on the whole temple when the door opened. The whole temple trembled." Cairo reminded her and she sighed.

"In a place like that, there can't be a way there's a spare entrance. Unless something is found in this palace itself about her." Kissa said as she looked around.

"The problem is I don't even know where she stayed during her time here."

"Something about her might be able to put an end to Asim. Or even unlock the bloodline secret." Cairo said and Kissa nodded.

"Layla said one of the maids are trustworthy. I still am not sure if Sabola is the one." Kissa said as she stood up and walked back to the balcony.

"I would say it is Sabola. Ramla isn't to be trusted and she can use one's vulnerability against the person. Speaking from experience." Cairo held his head up making her laugh.

"I saw what she tried to do already, since that night. She just likes you." Kissa teases making Cairo roll his eyes.

"Sabola would know something about the last Sorceress. Nobody ever talks about her since I got here." Kissa said as she placed her mother's locket around her neck and removed her usual one.

"They might but maybe not before you." Cairo said and Kissa nodded as she looked at herself in the mirror.

"I have a feeling I was given this locket for something." Kissa paused and looked down at Cairo. "I've trusted you Cairo. Don't break my trust."

"I won't." Cairo bowed and Kissa signalled to him to leave the room.

Immediately Cairo settled at his position outside the door, Lapis appeared in the atrium.

"Greetings High lady Lapis." Cairo and the other man bowed but Lapis acted like they didn't even exist.

Kissa looked at the door as she saw Lapis step in. See bowed in respect before Kissa stood up.

Lapis recognised the locket around her neck and looked shocked for a minute before clearing her throat.

"Everyone is in the training yard Lady Kissa. The Pharaoh has asked me to invite you two over and he would appreciate it if you didn't decline." Lapis infor.ed and Kissa nodded.

"I'll be there soon."

Lapis didn't waste anymore time, she rushed out of the quarters towards the training yard which was very large.

Asim's concubines were seated there with their maids, chit chatting. It was a bright and beautiful day and Asim seemed to be in a good mood to invite all of them.

Lapis walked up the stairs elevating Nubia and Sara's pillows and bowed before she walked up the couple of stairs elevating Asim's throne.

Asim sat there with one of his concubines sitting on his laps as he looked down at his men train.

"Pharaoh, there's news." Lapis bowed and the concubine got the cue to leave.

"What is it?" Asim asked.

"Her mother's locket. She has it." Lapis said and Asim looked at her shocked.

"I thought it was destroyed back then." He frowned.

"It looks like it wasn't but this one looks not much like the one her mother wears." Lapis said.

"Let her get here and I'll confirm." Asim ordered and Lapis nodded before walking down the stairs.

Kissa soon stepped into the yard with Cairo and the other guard behind her.

Some of the concubines eyed her, some acted like she didn't even exist.

Kissa didn't mind them one bit. No one told her that her seat was next to Asim before she walked up the stairs, bowed to the two concubines and walked up.

"Greetings Pharaoh. It's an honor to have a quality time with the whole household." Kissa bowed to him before taking her seat.

He looked at the locket for a while before finally looking away from it. It wasn't as harmful as he thought.

"So Kissa, when will Pharaoh's victory be complete? I'm sure you want to become his concubine so badly." Sara spoke up and Kissa looked down at her.

"I wouldn't say your words are entirely true Lady Sara. That isn't for anyone to decide yet because fate might have other plans." Kissa said then looked away.

"Pharaoh." Nubia's thin voice called and Asim looked down at her. "Lady Zarah didn't come over?"

"She has other things to do so she'll be joining later." Asim replied and Nubia nodded.

Sara rolled her eyes because she was still getting little attention because she was his newest concubine

Asim doesn't even care if Sara is dead or alive, even though she was pregnant.

"Pharaoh, I will be having my son soon. Do you have a name in mind?" Sara asked.

"He doesn't deserve a name." Asim replied and Sara gulped in embarrassment.

"Pardon me, Pharaoh. I didn't mean to inconvenience you." Sara apologized before facing the training ground after picking a grape from the fruit tray.

"You won't even have the child." Kissa mumbled loud enough for them to hear.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me."
