Chapter 58: So Arrogant
The two women were so breathtakingly beautiful that even Liu Erlong, who was confident in her own appearance, couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. A flicker of surprise flashed in her eyes as she observed them.
One of the women had long, flowing blue hair and sapphire eyes that sparkled like gems. The other exuded nobility, elegance, and a calm demeanor, her delicate features radiating unmatched grace. Both outshone Liu Erlong in ways that made her both envious and slightly jealous.
Her attention lingered on the second woman. Something about her demeanor made Liu Erlong feel an inexplicable sense of rivalry, as if they were destined to clash in some way.
Before she could dwell on the thought, the girl with blue hair spoke, her gentle voice directed at the handsome man standing between them.
"Brother Ling, since the game is canceled, let's go for dinner. I'm hungry."
The man, whom she had called Brother Ling, was about to respond when the elegant woman on his other arm added, "Yes, Brother Zhao. You treated us yesterday, so let us return the favor on behalf of the Spirit Hall today."
"Alright, let's go," Zhao Ling replied, his voice steady but his eyes betraying a flicker of happiness.
Liu Erlong's heart skipped a beat. The voice—it was too familiar! It matched the one she had heard countless times while poring over the "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary." Could this be him?
Her gaze darted between the two women and the man. Brother Zhao? Brother Ling? she thought. The pieces clicked together. The handsome man was Zhao Ling, and the two stunning women were none other than Bibi Dong and Ah Yin.
A sly smile curved on Liu Erlong's lips. She had been searching, and now fate had delivered them to her doorstep. But she knew better than to approach them rashly—it would only make them suspicious. Instead, she decided to play it safe.
---
Liu Erlong followed them discreetly, keeping a safe distance of 20–30 meters. It was enough to observe without drawing attention.
Meanwhile, Zhao Ling was in high spirits. Being flanked by Bibi Dong and Ah Yin, each holding one of his arms, was a dream come true.
His thoughts wandered briefly. Was it possible that the romantic fate intended for Yu Xiaogang in the original timeline had somehow shifted to him? If so, it was an incredible stroke of luck.
While pondering Bibi Dong's feelings, Zhao Ling found comfort in Ah Yin's unmistakable affection. Her willingness to snuggle into his arms, her gentle glances, and even the way she allowed him to kiss her forehead were all clear signs of her love.
When they reached their favorite restaurant, everyone gathered around a large round table. Zhao Ling didn't hesitate to pull Ah Yin closer, wrapping an arm around her waist and holding her close.
Ah Yin smiled sweetly, leaning into his embrace without hesitation. Her beautiful eyes sparkled as she glanced at Bibi Dong with a mischievous smirk, as if to say, 'Look, I'm first.'
Bibi Dong's composure cracked momentarily. Her expression darkened as she glared at Ah Yin, the teasing look stoking her irritation. 'Why him first? Am I not just as good—if not better?'
Then she felt it—a hesitant hand lightly grazing her waist. She turned slightly to see Zhao Ling, his face cautious, as though testing her reaction.
Bibi Dong couldn't suppress a laugh. 'Is he afraid of me? Am I so intimidating?'
When Zhao Ling finally placed his arm firmly around her, the frustration melted away. She couldn't help but feel smug. 'So, he *does* want me.'
Yet a hint of dissatisfaction lingered. Why hadn't he hugged her first? After all, wasn't her popularity supposed to surpass Ah Yin's?
Ju Douluo, seated nearby, watched the unfolding scene with a twitching expression. 'This man… How dare he? Hugging Miss Dong'er and Ah Yin at the same time?'
He was tempted to intervene, but Bibi Dong's calm acceptance made him pause. 'It seems Miss Dong'er doesn't mind. For now, I'll report this to His Majesty and wait for further instructions. If this Zhao Ling poses a threat to the Spirit Hall, His Majesty will decide his fate.'
---
Across the room, Liu Erlong sat at a smaller table, observing the scene from a distance. She had ordered her meal but barely touched it. Her attention was fixed on Zhao Ling, her thoughts racing.
'What in the world am I seeing?' she wondered, her mind a chaotic mix of disbelief and exasperation.
This man, Zhao Ling, had not one but two of the most beautiful women she had ever seen, willingly clinging to him. He even dared to embrace them openly in public.
Liu Erlong felt her jaw tighten. 'How can such a playboy command such loyalty?' She shook her head in frustration. 'Is he really that charming, or are these women blind?'
Still, she couldn't deny the pang of intrigue stirring within her. She had set out to find Zhao Ling, but the man she was now observing seemed far more complex—and infuriating—than she had imagined.
