Chương 6: Chapter 6 - Confrontation
Present times, Ash Ground Town
Yu Weiyuan awoke from his reminiscence feeling emotional.
For him, it was his first memory as himself and not as an unnamed little beggar. He gained an identity, one he felt his Master had given to him.
Lu Yingjie had changed his life for the better, making him into the Sect Master he is today.
So, he was grateful to him. He loved him as a son would his father.
And for a man, the hatreds of killing one's father and taking one's wife are the most unforgivable.
Yu Weiyuan looked at the townspeople, his gaze emotionless.
'Now, because of my hatred, I made my hometown into a battlefield.' He thought, his eyes travelling from people to people, from children to adults, from adults to elders. 'These people will die.'
'How could mortals survive the aftershocks of a battle between Divine Transformation cultivators?'
He shook his head in derision, shaking away the unecessary thoughts.
He had no care for the lives of mortals. The strong lived while the weak died and the clever survived. It was his belief, one he had taken with him from his times as an unnamed child thief.
SHRACK!
His train of thought was interrupted by a violent tearing sound shaking the air as three people appeared in the skies above the city.
At the head of the group was a bald and wrinkled old man with sunken eyes. He wore blood red robes, a bloodthirsty smile drawn on his face.
At the old man's sides, a long-haired middle-aged man with an aquiline nose along with a middle-aged woman with hair tied in a bun with a red lotus hairpin and a pouch attached to her sash wore the same blood red robes as him.
A glint of evil shined in the old man's eyes as he smirked towards Yu Weiyuan and the Grand Elder who stood below him.
"HAHAHA!!! Who would have thought this damn Lu Yingjie's precious disciple could be so foolish, leaving the safety of his home so hurriedly?" The old man exclaimed with glee, his raspy voice betraying his mockery.
His vocal cords trembled with each word he pronounced, producing an eery noise that travelled the air.
Each time it passed through one of the townspeople, their eyes turned white, losing all trace of consciousness.
Then, they fell down lifelessly like puppets from which one had cut the strings.
The old man waved his hand, and a bloody red light exited the corpses of the city residents, leaving their bodies without any Essence, their skin shrunk down to their bones.
The red lights gathered above the old man's hand, forming an bloody orb.
The old man's smile was full of blood as he mocked: "How did you like your little mortal friends' deaths, little cub of the Profound Heaven Sect?"
He looked at the red sphere, squinting his sunken eyes before snorting. "Tch! The Essences of Mortals are full of impurities!"
"Useless!"
With his words, he clenched his hand into a fist and crushed the bloody orb.
"Have you finished playing, Mo Gui?" Yu Weiyuan said emotionlessly. "Has the Grand Elder of the Myriad Demon Sect fallen so low as to take pleasure in harvesting the blood of mortals?"
The old man, Mo Gui's eyes narrowed in displeasure. "Jia Feng, can't you restrain your cub's dog mouth?"
"The Sect Master is wise, Old Demon. His words always hold the truth one can't bear to face." The Grand Elder, Jia Feng said lightly.
A tick mark appeared on Mo Gui's forehead as he said with gritted teeth. "Fine. If you two dead people can't recognize your situation with your puny dog eyes, then I'll help you open them."
"Elder Yao, Elder Kong. I want the cub dead. I will restrain this old dog so go take care of the kid."
The middle-aged woman, Elder Yao, and the middle-aged man, Elder Kong, acquiesced emotionlessly with a nod of the head and rushed to attack Yu Weiyuan.
But just as they prepared to use their Divine Abilities, a rumbling sound interrupted them.
From the four corners of the city rose four mysterious balls of spiritual light which ascended above the five cultivators, forming a four-coloured sphere.
The sphere exploded, its light dispersing to form a luminescent dome which encased the city.
Suddenly, the five cultivators felt their connexion to the surroundings completely lost, as it was cut away from them.
Mo Gui's eyes widened in shock as nearly screamed: "Heaven Severing Formation!!!"
Mo Gui's shock was understandable. In the Nascent Soul Realm, a cultivator becomes able to use their Nascent Soul to resonate with Heaven and Earth, thus strengthening their powers and attacks.
And in the Divine Transformation Realm, one becomes able to directly control the power of Heaven and Earth to unleash terrifying Divine Abilities.
The Heaven Severing Formation is an array of which the function is to separate an area from the surrounding Heaven and Earth, essentially depriving both allies and ennemies of their Divine Abilities and Heaven and Earth Resonance.
Elder Yao and Elder Kong found their Divine Abilities interrupted, leaving a gap that Yu Weiyuan was prepared to take advantage of.
A golden halberd covered in a metallic hue had already appeared in his hands as he rushed towards Elder Kong, slashing down at his head with monstruous power, the halberd's blade falling down towards him like a bolt of heavenly thunder.
SLASH!!!
Blood sprayed out of Elder Kong's shoulder as his arm fell on the ground.
His shoulder was like a broken faucet, leaking streams of red blood wildly.
Elder Kong hurriedly gathered his Spiritual Qi at the stump of his arm, stopping the bleeding while he only gazed at Yu Weiyuan without any hint of emotions despite the fact he had already lost an arm.
'Emotion Severing Sutra?' Thought Yu Weiyuan, anger rising within him. 'Of course this Early Stage Divine Transformation Realm prick had to use this damn scripture to break through!!!'
He glanced at Elder Yao who stayed completely unfazed by her comrade's injury. 'Her too.'
'It seems only the untalented use this scripture. Both the Elders are only at the Early Stage.'
He furrowed his brows, being pensive as his two ennemies examined him.
'Fighting them both alone...' He looked at one, then at the other. 'Without their Divine Abilities, it's doable.'
