Chương 73: Chapter 66: The Plan
Arthur was in the throne room, and below him were the Guardians and Co-Guardians of each floor—Shalltear, Tatsumaki, Angrboda, Cocytus, Esdeath, Aura, Mare, Demiurge, Albedo and Aurora—except the Gurdian of the 4th floor and 8th floor and the Co-Guardian of 7th and 8th floor—Antares and Rory.
He signaled to his kneeling subordinates to rise.
He placed both elbows on his table and meshed his hands, covering the lower half of his face.
He peeked at Demiurge and Albedo.
As the absolute ruler of the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick, Arthur had to adopt an attitude that matched the expectations of the NPCs.
While he did agree to Friday about walking his own path and building his own story, that doesn't mean he can lay back and put all the burdensome work on his subordinate shoulders.
No, what he aims to become is something that is awe-inspiring, something new, something cool.
"I have submitted a report to Albedo for you all to read; I hope you all have had the chance to do so." Arthur's voice pierced the silence of the empty hall.
Alongwith his words, a reply also came.
"Yes, My Lord, We have received the report about your wonderful plan that you have put into motion." Demiurge said as he was followed by Esdeath.
"Ancient-sama, I fear to offend, but aren't you moving too quickly?" Esdeath asked as the rest of the guardians attention went in her direction.
Arthur glanced at the other Guardians. They all seemed to have the same doubts.
"Too Quickly? Explain, Esdeath." Arthur asked.
"Yes, as per your orders, Demiurge has informed me of your ambition to stand against the supposed gods of this world and conquer the world. However, if you intend to dominate the world, wouldn't it be better to create a thorough plan and take things slowly?"
Hearing Esdeath's question, all the Guardians turned to Arthur.
World domination? Why would I do something like that? If I had that much time on my hands, I'd just wander around Nazarick. Or better, I can fulfill my duty as an incubus. Of course Arthur couldn't say that, so he replied with an answer that is convincing for all the Guardians present here.
"What you pointed out was indeed correct. If we are going to conquer the world, we need to make a thorough plan and even use tactics like civil war and other strategies to weaken our opponents. While doing this, we need to make sure to keep ourselves hidden well enough to not let any information about us get published. Otherwise, we will become part of history. We couldn't even fully bloom because we would have been cut off before that."
"If we are going to conquer the world, that is." Arthur said.
"If we are going to conquer the world?" Esdeath questioned as Demiurge followed after her.
"My Lord, isn't world dominance your ultimate goal? Isn't that why you told me to build an army alongside Esdeath?" Demiurge asked, confusion was clearly visible in his face.
"No, Demiurge, world domination was never part of my plan to begin with."
"Then, my lord, may I ask why you need an army? Although you have personally informed me of your goals, I am unable to understand your infinite wisdom. Please enlighten this foolish one." Demiurge bowed down deeply, as he was extremely embarrassed to even face his lord.
"Demiurge, do you know what my friends call me?" Hearing Arthur's question, Demiurge ran his brain at full capacity, trying to recall all the relevant information about the Ancient One, the current ruler of Nazarick. His knowledge of the last Supreme being was limited to only rumors. Suddenly, Demiurge remembered what Aurora had said when they were on the 6th floor.
—Ancient One and Lord Ulbert both participated in the match to prove they were the greatest 'chuuniyobes.' On that day, both Ulbert-sama and Ancient-sama unleashed their auras and defeated all other Supreme Beings—
Both Ancient-sama and Ulbert-sama are fighting for the title 'Chuuniyobe'. As Ulbert-sama has already been given the title 'Demon of Great Disaster', this means Chuuniyobe is related to destruction. Since both Ancient-sama and Ulbert-sama are competing for this title, it implies that the alas possess significant power that cannot be ignored. Demiurge thought.
"Lord of Chuunibyou, My Lord. That is the title you have been known for." Demiurge spoke proudly as a large smile appeared on his face.
But that was not the case for Arthur; when Demiurge brought out the term 'Chuunibyou' he nearly slipped down from the throne. With a rather shaking tone, Arthur asked.
"W-Where did you hear that term, Demiurge?" Arthur asked, He don't want his dark past to hunt him.
"From Aurora, My Lord. She was telling how you defeated Lord Ulbert and earned the title of 'Lord of Chuunibyou'. Even now, I still don't know the power such a title bears. But I hope this answer will satisfy your question."
Satisfy my question. More like it drains my ability to think for a second. Oh, how am I going to tell him not to call that? Should I ask Friday for help? No, She will make fun of me. Damn it, It seems like this shit is something I have to take care of myself.
"Demiurge, the title 'Lord of Chuunibyou' is not something I deserve. Even though, for unknown circumstances, I have battled against Ulbert, the title 'Lord of Chuunibyou' always belongs to Ulbert, so please don't call me that." Arthur's sounded almost like begging at the end of the sentence.
"You are too kind, My Lord. But I will keep your words in mind." Demiurge said. Arthur let out a sigh of relief after hearing Demiurge.
"Now then, where were we? Ah, yes,—"

"—As I've said, I have no interest in world domination; my aim has always been, and will continue to be, the destruction of this world." Arthur voiced his thoughts, while he is not someone who enjoys the suffering of millions and does not consider such a mindless genocide as a token of bravery.
When one think about it, bravery is something which is related to a warrior and a true warrior is someone who confront evil that person refuse to accept. Arthur is not a warrior; he is the evil that a warrior confronts.
Hearing what Arthur said, all the guardians were silent and recalled what Antares had once told them.
—Out of all the titles the Ancient One possesses, one of them defines his personality quite well and was given to him by Lord Touch Me—Madman.
"My Lord, This may sound disrespectful, but I can't help but ask, Why do you need to destroy this world? Isn't it better to just rule over it than burn it to ashes?" Esdeath asked, not because she cared about the well-being of the new world's citizens; rather, she couldn't come to a conclusion regarding Arthur's statement.
World Destruction: A word that is quite easy to pronounce but hard to achieve. If one were to ask whether world domination or world destruction is harder to achieve, the answer would be both are difficult to attain.
To conquer the world, one needs to possess knowledge about both enemies and allies. They should have the charisma of a king and be capable of creating laws that can maintain order. To dominate the world, one must be strong and intelligent; otherwise, they will become a pile of ashes before they can even wear a crown.
To destroy the world, one must possess tremendous strength that can rival any opponent.
So if one considers both to be the same difficulty, even so, world destruction is a bit more annoying than world domination because of sheer number of enemies Arthur need to fight; literally every single living being in the world will become a Nazarick enemy.
Even so, Arthur still needs to go through it because his ultimate goal is not this world. For that, he will go to any lengths to achieve his goal.
Another reason is that, if Arthur, by any chance, stays in this world, he will have to face players from Yggdrasil every two hundred years. Instead of facing them, he would rather destroy the world and go to another world.
But it's not like he can tell the Gurdians that he needs to destroy the world because of his dream to open a harem. So he needs to come up with an excuse that will gain the guardian's approval without making him look like a fool.
"Objectively speaking, what you said is indeed something to consider; however, if we were to do that, we would then be fighting the players from YGGDRASIL at random intervals, which I cannot allow. It's better to just destroy the current world and build a new one from the ashes." Arthur's words caused guardians to think deeply.
To think I can talk about genocide without feeling anything; seems like my demonic characters have started to merge with my personality. I need to look out for this otherwise who knows when I am going to do something irreversible. Arthur thought.
"Ancient-sama, may I ask you a question? How can you speak with such conviction that players from YGGDRASIL will arrive here? We currently have no proof of this; we could be the last ones to arrive here." Aurora asked, While she is the Overseer of the Co-Guardians, her karma value points slightly towards the positive value, meaning she would not agree with the idea of mass murder without a cause.
But Arthur didn't mind her as he continued to spoke.
"Yes, there is no well-defined proof that players will come after us. But that doesn't mean there is no possibility of that happening. The moment we transferred into this world, I sensed something like a summoning circle, even though I didn't know what it was used for, but I could say without hesitation that the summoning circle was a world-class item."
"World Class items!!!" All the Guardians exclaimed.
"Now I understand why, my Lord, you took the Avatar of a mage. To think you started making plans just after your arrival, I am in awe of your intellect." Demiurge said, the reason Demiurge knows about Arthur's different forms is because Arthur added some lines about being able to take different forms in his and all other NPC's character council.
"Yes, Demiurge. That's the reason why I had to take this form." Not because I wanted to fuck.
"Now then, we have made our move; we just need to wait until the fish bite the bait."
Arthur took a deep breath. Just as he was about to speak, a voice interrupted from beside him.
"Ancient-sama, I have a question. If you're going to destroy the world, then why did you have to give the human princess a position as a collaborator? Couldn't we have just conquered the kingdom by force? Or better, we can just turn the kingdom into a pile of rubble."
Arthur's palm started to sweat in response to Shalltear's question.
The first step of their overall goal of world destruction was to apply pressure to both the Slan Theocracy and the Greed Empire. They would allow the Empire's high command to launch an attack on Nazarick and use that to cause to counter attack the Empire and Theocracy. Then, they would impress the overwhelming military might of Nazarick upon them. Thus officially beginning the war.
Arthur knew nothing else. The exact importance of why they had to impress Nazarick's power on the Six Great Gods and Eight Greed Kings such fine details were a mystery to him.
The only reason he could come up with was to act cool in front of them.
Because of that, he had no idea how to properly answer Shalltear's question.
Aura continued after her.
"Shalltear's got a point."
Arthur glanced at the other Guardians. They all seemed to have the same doubts.
