Chapter 68: Waiting
"Right…" She rather not think about that time.
Usopp, Zoro, and Sanji were the first ones to wake up.
"You guys are very tough." Said Franky.
"Bwehh!..." Usopp looked up at Kokoro. "Ahh!, it's true then! mermaids actually exist!"
"Idiot!, she hasn't said that she is a mermaid. Don't ruin my dreams!" Yelled Sanji.
"Actually, I am a mermaid" Said Kokoro.
"Nooo!" Sanji went into denial mode.
"But I never heard of mermaids with legs." Usopp pointed out.
"Objection! Mermaids are…like…mermaids are…you know…" Sanji started crying.
"Mermaids' tail fins split into two when they reach the age of 30. And thus, we can live on land. We are a mystical tribe. You'll see for yourself if you go to Fishman island one day." Explained Kokoro.
"Ugg, we are I?" Chopper woke up.
Sanji then noticed Robin.
"Robin! Come into my arms!" Jumped Sanji.
Unfortunately for him, Nami and Chopper got to her first and gave her a strong hug, pushing Sanji away.
"Robin! I'm glad we made it! you are safe!" Cried Nami.
"Robin!" Said Chopper.
She smiled at them. "Yes. It was all thanks to you, guys."
"Wow, grandma! You are a mermaid?." Chimney had just woken up too.
"I always thought you were a bit different with your fins and scales and all."
"You should have figured it out then!" Yelled Franky.
Zoro and Usopp go off the ship and walked to the bridge.
"Look at that!." Said Zoro while pointing at the main island which was now on fire.
"Hard to believe that is the island we were just in."
Vivi got to his side.
"Robin tried to warn the idiot against using the Buster Call…but here we are."
"Spandam, right? Where is He now? He was the one dragging Robin around."
"Dead. On the other side of this bridge." Answered Vivi completely unfaced.
"I see" Said Zoro, not showing any change in his expression.
"It seems like there is an order to not kill Nico Robin." Franky also came into the bridge.
"So that's why this place remains intact!" Said Usopp.
"If they don't plan to kill her, that means they haven't given up on taking her back." Zoro pointed out.
"Once they are done demolishing Enies Lobby, they will probably disembark here to take her." Said Franky.
"They will try." Warned Vivi.
"Everyone is worn out from all the fighting already…and there must be some strong guys in those ships, right?" Asked Usopp with worry.
"There should be at least five Vice-Admirals. And yes, those guys are definitely very strong." Answered Vivi.
"We are going to need Luffy! Where is He?" asked Usopp.
"You can still see the smoke from their battle coming from the top of the bridge first prop." Said Zoro.
"His opponent is Lucci, the pigeon guy. He is by far, the strongest member of the CP9" added Vivi.
"We are very close, why don't we give him a hand?" Said Usopp.
"Don't even try. That pigeon guy is very dangerous. You would only get in Luffys way. Best to not get separated now." Advised Zoro.
"We must keep our escape route open even if a fleet of enemy warships comes for us. And wait for Luffy right here."
"Franky…your friends…" Said Sanji while looking at the flames coming from the island.
"Idiot!, those guys have the devil's luck! They get right away!" Exclaimed Franky.
They then heard a voice starting a broadcast. It came from one of the marine ships.
"Reporting from the northeast side of the main gate. Marines and government officials have been accommodated. Also, we confirmed that approximately 50 pirates, including some giants, are at the main gate."
"That's them!" Yelled Franky. "I'm not worried about them. They'll never die no matter how many times they'll kill them."
The broadcast continued.
"We have completed the obliteration mission. By the means of fire. Death is confirmed for all of them. As it stands, it is impossible to have any survivors left on the main island. The number of survivors left on the main island is zero."
"The only target left is the Bridge of Hesitation."
"Franky…" Usopp didn't know what to say.
"The guys from Galley-La too?" Said Zoro.
"Yokozuna was with them…" Said Kokoro
"Can people die so easily?" Asked Nami.
"They just erase an island from the map. That's what the Buster Call is…" Said Robin.
"They are all alive thought. I can still 'hear' their voices." Vivi pointed out.
They all turned to her with shock.
"Is it true? you can 'hear' them?" Said Usopp.
"You can do it from this distance?" Asked Nami.
"What is she talking about?!. What voices?" Franky demanded to know.
"Is a skill called mantra that Vivi learned. You can feel the auras of people around you. We all learned it to some degree, but Vivi is by far, the best at it." Said Nami.
"Can you really tell that they are alive?" Asked Franky with hope in his voice.
"Yes. From this distance, I cannot tell exactly where they are. But I can feel that they are all alive. Franky family, the guys from Galley-La, the frog, the giants, the two sea-kings. I can feel them all." Vivi told them with conviction.
The truth was that she could not feel anyone at that distance. Her haki has not gotten that strong yet. But she 'knew' that they survive this somehow. So she wanted to give them some reassurance.
"Yes!. I knew those guys were not going down that easily." Franky celebrated.
"Well, that's a relief indeed." Said Kokoro.
