Chapter 140: A bittersweet reunion
Coast of Grove 42; Strawhat meeting point.
On top of the Sunny were the rest of the Strawhats. But what was supposed to be a happy reunion was quickly turned sour by the news that Robin had brought.
"This is bad…how are we going to tell him?" Usopp said with worry, a newspaper was hanging from his right hand.
"And I was so happy a moment ago…" Said Nami with her head down.
"I'm sorry, everyone for ruining our reunion" Spoke Robin.
"Is not your fault Robin!" Exclaimed Nami.
"She is right, you know? We had to find out sooner or later and sooner is better. Now we can think about what to do ." Said Franky.
"We already know what our Captain will want to do…" Added Brook.
"Ahh!, you guys!" Shouted Luffy from the top of a giant bird.
A few minutes before, Luffy's group was found by Chopper who was riding a giant bird. He was sent by the others to look for them.
Luffy!" The crew shouted in excitement.
"Zoro, Sanji!" Exclaimed Usopp.
"Vivi!" Yelled Nami with a wide smile.
"I brought them!" Exclaimed Chopper.
"You guys look even manlier now!" Commented Franky.
"Thank you?..." Vivi rose an eyebrow.
"Luffy!, I have missed you soo much!" Brook was crying.
"Haha!, we are all back together!" Usopp smiled.
"Heeyy!!" Nami started jumping in joy and this cause her barely covered tits to start bouncing too.
"Ahhh!" Sanji started bleeding again from his nose and fell from the bird.
Usopp went to his rescue.
"Chopper get over here!, he is losing a lot of blood."
"Hmph!, how weak, is just some breasts…" Vivi did not get the eyes of Nami and Robin, they were both wearing very revealing outfits.
There was a thin line of blood coming out of Vivis nose
"There is blood coming from your nose too…" Zoro looked at her in disapproval.
"They have both got bigger…" Vivi was not listening to him.
As soon as they got off the bird, Luffy went to greet his crew.
"Guys!, I have missed you soo much!" Exclaimed their Captain.
The crew smiled but their smiles soon turned somewhat sour.
Luffy, Zoro, and Vivi noticed this strange change.
"What's going on?" Asked Vivi.
"Did something happen?" Said Luffy.
Without saying a word, Usopp went to pick up the newspaper and handed it to Luffy.
Zoro and Vivi moved closer to read it too. Sanji did not react since he was barely conscious after losing so much blood.
Luffy frowned and took the newspaper in his hands, wondering what could have put his crew in such a sour mood during their reunion.
But he soon understood.
Vivi gasped in shock as she saw the words written on the first page.
"Ace "Firefist" and Marco "The Phoenix" from the Whitebeard Pirates have been captured!"
"Ace?!" Shouted Luffy.
"That fire guy got captured?" Zoro was also surprised.
"That cant be…he didnt go…" Vivi did not understand it. She changed that.
'Why was he captured?, didn't Kid get captured in his stead? And Marco got captured too?'
"How did this happen?" She asked.
"The news article doesn't go into details about that." It was Robin the one that spoke. "It does say that Ace and the current Whitebeard Captain, Marco were captured during a marine ambush."
"Marco is the Captain? what happened to the old man?" Asked Vivi.
"He died, six months ago." Said Nami. "You didn't get any news during all this time?"
"Im afraid that newspapers did not reach that island…" Vivi grunted, she got into a bad mood just from remembering that place.
"Where is my brother right now?!" Luffy demanded to know.
"The paper only said at the end that he was going to be…" Usopp hesitated to continue. "That he was going to be executed in one week from now…"
Luffy opened his eyes widely before his face contorted in anger.
"One week!" He shouted.
"Luffy, you have a vivre card of Ace, right? Show it to us please." Requested Nami.
"Ahh, that's right. I have one" Luffy hurried to take out his hat, inside it was a small piece of paper. He placed it on his palm and realized in horror that it now looked much smaller than before and some of the borders looked burned.
"Ace…"
"That's not good, but at least we know that he is still alive, otherwise that paper would have disappeared completely." Robin pointed out.
"We have to go save him then!" Exclaimed Usopp.
"If we don't know where he is, how are we goint t-" Zoros question was interrupted by Vivi.
"Impel Down…" She spoke.
Robin gasped. "Of course!...the most secure Marine prison. That is the place where they were planning on sending me."
"Impel Down? Where is that?!" Asked Luffy.
"Is not about knowing where it is, Luffy. We will need a log pose to get there. Ours is still pointing to Fishman Island." Nami pointed out.
"Marines…" Said Vivi.
"Of course! The marines must have eternal log poses to their most important places like Enies Lobby, Impel Down, and their Headquarters!" Exclaimed Franky.
"Yes that too...but what I meant to say is that marines are approaching," Vivi said calmly while pointing with her finger at the distance.
They turned to look and managed to stop at a small point, very far away.
"Is true! is a big marine ship and they are coming towards us!" Nami had picked up the spyglass.
"How did you pick them up from that distance?. I have improved my observation haki but I can only sense a few dozen meters away" Said Usopp, looking impressed.
Vivi diminished the question, she was able to 'observe' the entire archipelago at this point. "Never mind that! There is our ticket to rescue Ace." She said while looking in the direction of the marine ship
