Few things in the world stimulated a girl more than the opportunity to earn money. And this was not changed even by the fact that she did not know for a long time how much money their family had accumulated. They came in hundreds of millions and left in about the same amount. Luffy knew how to make fabulous money, but he also spent fabulous amounts of it. In general, from the point of view of Luffy himself, and Nami, no matter how much money they had, that money was never enough. So the girl was not going to miss the opportunity to earn extra money. The whole fight with Kuro ended quickly and a bit unexpectedly for everyone involved ... though, what other battle? Rather, it was a prolonged beating that ended in a very quick and brutal manner. But, as already mentioned, a little unexpected.
Kuro came out of the water, Johnny got ready to finish him off, and at this very moment an irritated Yosaku appeared on the stage. No one had time to blink an eye, as Kuro, at first, was imprinted deep into the ground, and then lifted by the hair and, leaving behind blood, snot and knocked out teeth, sent on a long flight with a monstrous blow to the face. The flight of the once formidable captain, once nicknamed the "Thusand plans", ended with a powerful collision with a rock. Kuro, literally imprinted on the rock, remained hanging on it upside down, showing everyone his face, crumpled by the blow to Yosaku. Nobody will definitely call him handsome anymore, except as a spiteful joke. On the other hand, it was a kind of miracle that Kuro managed to survive first the attack of Johnny, and then the attack of Yosaku, annoyed by his death, so he had no right to complain. A couple of weeks ago, he would have been guaranteed to have been finished off, like his entire former team, but now the Straw Hat family has somewhat changed priorities. For example, finally, they no longer had to be bothered with numerous corpses.
Under Luffy's leadership, the more or less surviving Black Cat pirates, spurred on by kicks from Johnny and Yosaku, gathered all their wounded comrades, including the picked out of the rock Kuro, and then sailed off to their ship. Almost simultaneously with them, Nami departed from their ship, by this time had already managed to rob the unlucky pirates. She, of course, did not find a lot of booty - all the East Blue pirates had been on "starvation rations" for a long time, - but she still managed to find something ... Naturally, several million bellies, for most people, did not look at all "something". However, Nami, thanks to her new family, has long been accustomed to operating with somewhat different amounts. Before Luffy, with his opinion that if he did not have "at least" a billion bellies at hand, then he was a tramp, a poor man and in general a complete beggar, the girl, of course, was still far away. At the same time, three and a half million, stolen from the ship of the Black Cat pirates, were estimated by Nami at the level of pocket change. The girl, on her last shopping trip, spent three times more on clothes alone than she now took money from the Black Cat pirate ship. In general, another half or a year - more "half" than "year" - and Luffy's level will be reached.
After defeating Kuro, the further situation developed in a predictable way ... for at least one person for sure. And no wonder. Luffy always knew how to manage the situation, directing its development in the direction he wanted.
Firstly, Usopp did become "Hero of the Day". Even though the members of the Straw Hat family took care of the pirates, it was Usopp who tried to warn all the villagers the day before about the danger that threatened them. It was Usopp who risked his life by coming to Kaya's house, to the very "lair" of Klahador, and tried to take the girl with him. And finally, thanks to a couple of casually thrown phrases by Luffy, it became clear to all the villagers that it was only because of Usopp that the members of the Straw Hat family even began to protect their village. Not to mention the fact that it was Usopp who became the very first "protector", and his condition clearly showed and proved how much he wanted to protect the villagers in general, and Kaya in particular.
Secondly, when the passions subsided a little, Luffy threw a couple of seemingly insignificant phrases, which, nevertheless, led to the fact that the Straw Hat family was driven into a full-fledged ship. This in itself was amazing. In fact, the family was given the only ship that could be found in the village, and it belonged to Kaya. Even more surprising to Nami, Johnny, and Yosaku was the fact that Luffy was overjoyed as soon as he saw the ship up close. No, the ship itself looked ... cute. A small caravel with one main mast, two cannons and a peaceful looking sheep's head as a bow figure. In general, cute, peaceful and harmless. However, this was the main problem. This was not how they envisioned a ship that would be able to please Luffy, not at all. Glass coffins with half-decayed zombies twitching inside will definitely not fit such a ship.
In turn, the ship, the Going Merry, to be precise, was built by none other than Kaya's second butler - or the first, given that Klahador came later. This butler's name was Merry, and because of his lush, white hair, and even curly hair, he looked like a sheep. Not in the sense that he looked stupid, but in the fact that he looked like a real sheep. Given Luffy's eccentricity, it was highly suspicious that he hadn't sent Kaya's butler outright. Or, at the very least, I didn't knock it out. Moreover, Luffy literally embraced a ship built by essentially a sheep man. The situation looked so wrong that, in the end, Nami just couldn't stand it:
- I don't understand why this ship is better than all the others? - The girl asked her captain. - I do not want to offend anyone, - Nami explained, immediately turning towards Kaya and Merry, - but I saw how he instantly, without any hesitation, refused the best ships that can only be found in the entire East Blue. And while I personally like your ship, I can't figure out how Luffy might like it.
After saying this, Nami turned back to her captain and stared at him expectantly.
- Nami, who else but you should understand that garbage wrapped in a beautiful wrapper will still remain garbage, - leaning his hands on the railing, Luffy looked down at the girl from the side of the ship. - If you had haki, it would never even occur to you to ask me such a question. Unlike those expensive floating pieces of wood, Mary has a soul. She is still small and stupid, but the most important thing is that she exists at all. - Luffy gently ran his hand along the railing, as if stroking a beloved kitten or puppy. - Such a ship could only be built if the creator put a piece of his own soul into it, - the guy's gaze shifted to the Merry standing on the bank, and Nami could swear that she saw the most real respect in the eyes of her captain. - Ships made for a carbon copy will never be able to compare with ships made with a soul. Moreover, you need to be a great craftsman, and incredibly love your job in order to endow the ship with a soul.
Nami was officially shocked - her doltish captain really decided to express his respect to someone! In the memory of the girl, this happened for the first time, and, judging by the drooping jaws of Johnny and Yosaku, the first time this happened not only in her memory.
