Chương 26: Ingredients and Reagents

Well that's the Basilisk taken care of.
Neatly stored in my INVENTORY is a Basilisk corpse. I killed the one in the Chamber of Secrets. A modified bubble-head charm. Asphyxiation took a much longer time than I originally planned for. The poor thing thrashed around for at least fifteen minutes. I kept the spell up just to be sure. It was too old and senile. Also Tommy-boy had done a number on the poor thing and made it it's own personal slave. Pet or familiar bond does not react well to force. Especially magic. There are more primal magics at work there.
The familiar bond that Lord Slytherin had set up between his Basilisk and Hogwarts was corrupted and mangled by Riddle. To keep the Basilisk alive required a live sacrifice. Hence Moaning Myrtle.
Lord Slytherin had his reasons for being so isolationist and to many extremely prejudiced against muggles and muggleborn magi. Hearing of your squib sister being burned at the stake for 'witchcraft' would set anyone off.
He was conducting research on something or other in Norway when he got the news. Everybody who held or wore a cross in a hundred leagues radius spontaneously combusted.
It did not end there he cursed the Vatican to never be at peace. For their own will bring their demise. Unlike every third rate villain, he didn't tell them about the curse. He just walked right into the Vatican and placed the cursed stones in the walls and foundations of the city.
I have a feeling they figured it out but were too scared to mess around with such 'dark' magic. Especially one that's ingrained into the entire structure.
This greatly complicates things. As all the captured magical or occult knowledge is kept in their vaults and libraries will have a trace of that curse. Best thing to do would be to copy the original books and leave. That requires far too much time, and some books, scriptures or passages will not be copied due to them interfering with the Gemino spell. The easiest thing would be to store all the knowledge and wealth in my INVENTORY. But I won't know what's cursed directly or indirectly. Not only that, I'll still have to make copies of older texts in order to preserve the originals.
It's not like I'm going to rob them tomorrow, but I need to start planning now.
One form of insurance is that, even if the theft is reported, there is no way the Vatican will disclose the magical side. If they do then they'll have to reveal their own magi, conceived by and within the clergy. Using captured wizards from centuries past, and indoctrination of the children up until now.
The Roman Empire may finally crumble. On to the other ingredients on the ritual list.
There is a winged creature that the angles of Abrahamic religions are modeled after. The Lamassu. I would like to capture and have one as a pet. The thing is they're very smart, very vindictive and have magic. So I will simply try to collect some of their feathers, 'willingly given' the ritual said. It is often confused with the Sphinxes of Egypt. There are a lot of similarities, but the main difference is, you won't know when you've seen a Lamassu. They can and will shape-shift. I will need to come up plans and contingencies for getting their feathers.
I need a Sphinx, well just it's brain or blood actually. I'll have to research more about the substitutions possible.
Other ingredients on the list are: Dragon Heartstring, Veela blood, Phoenix tears, seven grams Mithril(goblin silver), Mandrake extract, Werewolf fangs, Griffin tail feathers, and eyes for whatever effect you desire. I'm thinking hydra and wampus cat eyes. This process actually requires a lot of thought.
The question is how do I want to proceed with the rituals. Once a year on my birthday, on the summer solstice, winter solstice. Twice a year 7th of March and 7th of November, the equinoxes. Three times and year, 7th March, 3rd July, 7th November. On every New Moon, every Full Moon. Timing is very important for maximum effect.
Not only that, the order in which the rituals are done also affects synergy between them. I can do the ritual in one go, and not be able to do another ritual on myself for 21 years. I can break it down into 3 or 7 parts, or any multiple of the two. If I go with three parts, it'll have to be every solstice at the same location, while breaking it into seven parts is more malleable, but the order in which they are undertaken matters.

I want to make a philosophers stone. I can use the Panacea and Elixir to boost the ritual effects.
Before all of that, I need to perform some preparatory rituals so the main ritual takes a proper hold and has better results.
*****Friday 17 January 1992*****
The third Friday of the month. January futures expire today. The Chicago Board Options Exchange and Chicago Mercantile Exchange run on Central Time. I will have enough time to exit many of the post Gulf War positions.
The initial announcement made my accounts a few hundred million USD. Short S&P 500 options and go long on oil futures.
Now I have reversed positions. Long on S&P, DJIA and NASDAQ. Leave oil alone for the next few years, small positions, 10-20 futures contracts. It's going to be range bound. I will get a large position again when it come below $10 a barrel.
Still staying away from gold for a while. I need it at around $200 USD an ounce. I can just hold it at that point. Commodities are actually the future for investments. An American by the name of Jim Rogers has made a commodities fund.
Tonight I plan on making a few million more and buying more Berkshire Hathaway stock. Have a few millions worth already. Having more is always a good idea.
Also the dividends from Coca-Cola are phenomenal. Lockheed and Boeing have tanked a bit after the war. I'll hold onto them.
I really want to use magic to hack into technology. I can simply have the Bank Of where-ever wire me millions in "Consulting Fees". But I really don't need magic do I? Not much anyway. Meet a few bank presidents, vice-presidents or directors, and just talk to them.
New plan, expand my consulting operations. They're just for show for now, glad I set them up, no tax. Time to use them to make money.
It truly is a rich man's world.
