The sounds of the birds singing woke me up, greeting me with a brand new day. But where am I? I groan in pain as I tried sitting up on the small bed. This is what you call a room? Barely anything is stored in here except for a table, a chair, and a bed. There was a small window, but it was up there.
How did I get here? My memories are still blurred, but once I get back to my mansion. I am not going to let them do whatever they want. To think they ambushed my birthday celebration. They must not have feared me.
My sword? Where is my sword? I searched all over the room and in the corner laid my black sword. I sighed out of relief, seeing it safe and unscathed. If I lost that sword is not in its case, it's going to go berserk.
"Master? Are you finally awake?" Called Yustaf as a portal opened, revealing a black cat walking out of it. "Are you alright? I'm terribly sorry for not finding you earlier," Yustaf apologizes.
"No, it's alright. I was in a deep sleep for sure. Look at that calendar. Two days. That's how long I was asleep," I sighed out loud and brought my legs down onto the worn-out wooden floor.
This place is not only small but broken. Who is even living in this small place? How can they even survive here? "Master?" Yustaf called while I shook the thoughts off my head. I don't know how to thank this person, but I need to go back to where I'm supposed to be.
"Yustaf, can I trust you to keep a close eye on this person? I'll repay this person later on."
Despite my wounds not being healed, I need to go back to my palace. I'm sure my other loyal servants are worried, and I'm going to break that old man's neck. It's a surprising gift, an ambush. I can't wait to see their reactions.
"Then who will be by your side?" Yustaf asked, knowing him being a worry rat, especially towards me. I gave him an assuring smile, then said, "I have other loyal servants. Don't worry too much, Yustaf."
I stepped into the portal while closing my eyes, and once I opened my eyes back, I was back into my own room. Before I could do anything else, I should change into better wear. I didn't like how the shirt was sticking onto my skin, but the scent was familiar.
I was buttoning my shirt up not until the door banged open and entered a black-haired man with his hair tied into a ponytail. Another noisy man has come. Can't these two relatives keep their calm down? I guess it's because those two have been together since birth and are almost each other's duplicates.
"Master! I heard from Yustaf you were badly hurt, and where do you think are you going?" Gerald asked as he tried blocking my way out of the door. "Gerald, get me a coat," I ordered him, and he followed. But did he not know he was fooled by me.
By the time I stepped out of my room, I heard Gerald calling for my name and ran towards my side. "Master! You can't just keep fooling me around," Gerald scolded me, and all I could do was laugh at his reaction.
"I've been doing that for years, and you still fall for it," I said while he huffed and turned his head away. "By the way. Did you find him? Marquess Claude," I asked Gerald, but he didn't answer me. I looked at him, but he was frowning. It looks like something happened in this palace while I was gone. This is getting more chaotic. Still, I have to reward him for keeping this place safe. So far, I don't feel any ominous aura.
"When Sir Arkee infiltrated his mansion, he was found dead inside his bathtub. It seems like he's just an accomplice."
I clicked my tongue as I made my way to my office. Now that the old man's dead. The question now is who it is? The person who has been trying to kill me? If they knew much about my schedule, he must be someone who works in my palace.
"Gerald, investigate each servant thoroughly. One no at least five of them is in this palace. Capture them and question them. If they don't answer us. You have my permission to kill them."
"Where is Alicia?"
"She's in your office doing some of your work."
People might think their Master is not doing their job and letting his servants do the job. I'll need to repay them later. I arrived in front of the doors of my office, and one of the soldiers opened the doors for me.
I see Alicia deep into work and didn't want to disturb her. But once the doors behind me close, she saw me and immediately stood up, giving me a bow. "Master, are you alright? I can finish the reports, and so please get more rest," Alice said as she tried pushing me out of the office.
"Alice, I'm fine. I heal faster than any other demons. This wound won't kill me."
"But…"
"We need to find them as soon as possible. We can't let that person go and have this kind of incident repeat again. We were too naive that time," I clenched my fist as it was true. Though I didn't want to admit it, we lost this time.
Even if the world is in peace now, there are some demons who dislike that fact about working with the angels. The way we think and act may be different from each other, but still, just like humans, we want peace. If a war breaks because of my people, I honestly wouldn't know what to do.
Will stop updating this novel. I'm sorry to my readers.
