It's a play on "我愛羅" (The kanji for Gaara's name, Ga-A-Ra) in chinese. It could be translated to "I love silk" (chinese: Wo Ai Luo), so the author changed the last character to "銭"(which can be translated to "money", hence, "I love money") so it became 我愛銭. This might be the reason why the recruited Gaara felt uncomfortable with the name.
