Chương 148: My twin died today
Not the fucking update I wanted to write.
My twin died today. Or yesterday, since I'm writing this at 1 pm. From what I know a mortar shell hit him cleanly, basically obliterating him. On the plus side, it means he died painlessly.
The people whose job it is to find relatives and tell them couldn't find me even though I was at my base. One of my commanding officers suddenly came to me with a grim look and told me my mother was on the phone.
I took it, and she just cried and told me my twin got killed. It took about two seconds to get the message across and I felt like I got hit by a bullet.
I think it was the suddenness of it all. One second I was with my friends, the second I was told my twin died.
I arrived home and a bunch of Majors and Captains were there. Apparently, they were responsible for funeral directions and such. I didn't get a second to breathe before talks started on where the funeral should be held, how it should be held, and so on. Like, come on...
Then the military issued a formal announcement, meaning it was on the news. I've been getting phone calls and messages non-stop from friends. Hell, guys I haven't talked to in years called to offer their condolences.
tomorrow's the funeral, I don't know how I'll react. I'm kinda scared, to be honest. Well, I finished this, but I've got to write what I'll say tomorrow. I'll update you guys again after I finish mourning. Should be a week from now.
You know, it makes me wonder how many people we made feel like this. Don't get me wrong, I'm still of the opinion that what we're doing is 100% justified, but... I don't knwo. I'm confused and conflicted... I guess that's all from me now. 'Till next time.
