After finishing everything he needed to do in the cave, Kurogiri decided that it was time to leave and attract the attention of the ninja. He knew that it would be foolish to head towards Konoha, but he had a plan. Kurogiri used his telepathy to order the two Nomu to follow him and created two clones to keep an eye on the sides.
As he made his way through the forest, he reached an area that was not too far from the village or the cave. Kurogiri knew that the best bait was himself, so he had the clones use their Hologram ability to create a giant hologram of himself that was taller than the trees. This would surely attract the attention of the ninja and bring them towards him.
As expected, Kurogiri's giant hologram attracted the attention of nearby ninjas who rushed towards the area. However, only Konoha ninjas were in close proximity, as no other countries could send their ninjas yet. To expand his search area, Kurogiri made two more clones, utilizing his search quirk and that of the clones to detect five close-by ninjas and five more far away.
To avoid detection, Kurogiri had his clones board the Nomus and disguised them as boulders through holograms while he disguised himself as a tree using the same technique. After creating the tree disguise, then had the two clones stop the large hologram and start a fire in the area hiding inside.
Sensing the first approaching group of ninjas, Kurogiri had his clones rush towards them, increasing their speed with the use of Whirlwind and One for all. The five Konoha ninjas arrived at the area but saw the area covered in fire and two creatures rushing towards them out of the fire. Remembering the warning of their superiors, the ninjas quickly retreated to a safe distance.
Unfortunately, two of the Konoha ninjas were not quick enough and were grabbed by Kurogiri's clones using Black Whip. The clones threw them towards the hologram boulder that concealed the Dupli-arm Nomu. The ninja inside it had their chakra drained by the Kurogiri clone and were knocked out when hit hard in the head by the Nomu.
Realizing that their companions had vanished and their chakra signatures had nearly disappeared, the remaining Konoha ninjas decided to abandon combat and wait for reinforcements.
Kurogiri used his telepathy to order his super-fast Nomu to catch the fleeing Konoha ninjas. One of Kurogiri clones, riding on the Nomu's back, covered its leg's engine with ice to prevent overheating. The Nomu then used its engine quirk and overclock quirk, allowing it to quickly catch up with the ninja.
When the ninja turned around, the clone quickly launched itself off the Nomu's back using Float and Black Whip to grab the fleeing ninja. The ninja acted fast to grab the Black Whip but didn't see the Nomu speeding towards them. They used their legs to strike two of the Konoha ninjas in the back of their heads.
The last ninja cut the Black Whip with a kunai and tried to flee, but the clone anticipated this, heading towards them with Float. The ninja, reacting swiftly, performed some hand seals and spat a fireball at the Kurogiri clone.
The clone managed to withstand the fireball attack using hardening before activating One for All to jump through the flames. The clone drained the ninja's chakra, but Kurogiri and the original version were surprised to see that the ninja disappeared and was replaced with a log.
Kurogiri used his search to pinpoint the location of the last Konoha ninja that escaped. He then used telepathy to order his Engine Nomu to capture the ninja, with the clone jumping onto its back as it sped towards them. The ninja was caught off guard and was quickly knocked out by the Nomu, which the clone drain of chakra as the new ninja group arrived. However, the group's sensor ninja had noticed that Kurogiri's creature was capable of chakra drainage through touch, alerting the others.
Quickly reacting to that information, Kurogiri abandoned his previous cover and ordered the Dupli-arm Nomu to follow him to the area. He then controlled the clone facing the group to hop on the Engine Nomu, ordering it to circle the group while using a smokescreen to cover the area. Kurogiri needed to ensure that the group didn't get away and spill information to anyone else.
Using his Wind style jutsu, one ninja tried to clear the smoke, but Kurogiri's clone riding the Engine Nomu met it with an equal force of whirlwind while making a huge bowl of ice. The two ninja then deployed their larger Wind jutsu to blow the smoke out. Finally, when the smoke had cleared, the original Kurogiri arrived at the top of the ice with his clone, and Nomus.
The ninja were horror-struck to see all the creature's versions, including the two grotesque creatures with tentacle arms and tubes that emerged from the legs. Kurogiri ordered his clone and Nomus to attack the ninja, using telepathy while also trying to interfere with their minds. While the larger Nomu was overpowering the remaining ninjas, Kurogiri wasn't pleased as it was only because of the settings that the Nomu was winning.
The ninja knew that they might not make it out of this and knew that the abilities they had seen, which had not been reported, were alarming, and the chakra drain that they were told about was terrifying. They tried to attract more ninja using a flair but were eventually struck down by the tentacle arms.
Kurogiri felt drained after using too many quirks while enduring the battle. He quickly drained the ninjas' chakra and burned the bodies and ice bowl with flames. He then directed the clone riding the Engine Nomu to transport the bodies back to their previous location while ordering the Dupli-arm Nomu to follow.
Using Hologram to make themselves look like trees, both the Nomus and Kurogiri escaped the area as more Konoha ninja arrived to put out the fire. The group was hesitant to search for the creature after seeing the aftermath of the battle and knew they needed to report it immediately to Hokage as the creature seemed to have become stronger.
Kurogiri, riding the Engine Nomu could feel that it was fatigued and slowing down. Knowing that he had gathered as much chakra as he could for now, he quickly rushed to the cave before getting overwhelmed by the Konoha ninjas.
Kurogiri knew that he could only stay here long enough to replenish his and the Nomu's chakra and create new quirks to hide his presence from the ninja. After his recent fight, Kurogiri had realized that some of the ninja had a way of tracking him, which he needed to address.
Using his search quirk, Kurogiri found that some ninja had been searching the nearby area. He quickly used a hologram to hide the cave and focused on the amount of chakra he had for quirk creation.
Kurogiri had drained ten ninjas, which was enough to create two high-level quirks, one medium quirk, and one low-level quirk. He decided to absorb the chakra amount of a low-level quirk to replenish his stamina. Feeling refreshed, Kurogiri began focusing on what new quirks he needed and what he could add to his Nomus.
In Konoha, the Third Hokage had just received the report of the encounter with the giant creature. He was alarmed to know that ten of his ninjas were lost, and the creature was still at large. Determined to put an end to this, the Third Hokage called Kakashi and instructed him to lead the Anbu team responsible for catching the creature.
The Third Hokage knew that Kakashi's team was the best he had at the moment, especially since it had several Jonins on board. Kakashi bowed and left the Hokage's office to meet with his team at the Anbu headquarters. He briefed them on the mission, telling them that failure was not an option, and they had to catch the creature alive or dead.
Kakashi's team knew the gravity of the situation and understood the importance of bringing down the creature. They were prepared to do everything it took to accomplish their mission. Gathering there things together the team quickly left the village towards the area noted in the report to gather clues.
Kurogiri, still deep in thought about the new quirks he needed to acquire, had another flash of danger sense. He immediately became alert, knowing that he could be facing a new threat. He quickly telepathically ordered the Dupli-arm Nomu to make more ears to listen out for anything near the cave, preparing for whatever was going to come.
Unknown to Kurogiri, the strongest Anbu team was already on its way to capture or kill him. The choices he would make now would determine whether he would make it out alive or not. The tension was high, and Kurogiri knew he had to be careful.
The tension was high, and Kurogiri could feel the pressure mounting. He knew that he had to be swift if he wanted to get out alive.
