Chương 67: "Cooking"

"You know, Principal, I'm surprised that you were able to get this set up so quickly. And I get the whole thing? You didn't pay some obscene price, did you?" Kai asked.

"It was actually made simple by one thing- you were right. There is almost no brain activity from Noumu. He's a blank slate that won't respond without a specific key we don't have. He barely even respond to food, so they've been keeping him alive by IVs. Between an opportunity to get rid of him and getting some more information about him, they had no problem with delivering him here," Nezu replied.

"How much did you explain to the police, if I may be curious?"

"As little as I could."

Naturally. Nobody would want to admit that they were consigning a near-human creature to what Kai was about to do. Even if Nezu hinted to them what was going to happen, Noumu was pretty much dead already. Or as Kai put it, he had the brain activity of a stoned sloth.

"I'm sure you don't want to watch. Between his regeneration and durability, it's going to take a while to finish him up. Doesn't help that he was also made to resist kinetic impacts- they will really need to take their time."

"That's why he's here," Nezu said, gesturing to the empty warehouse. This was a place where a lot of UAs materials and maintenance droids were kept. It was set far apart from the main campus but had all the security the school afforded any of its facilities.

Nobody else had to get involved in this. Nobody else needed to know.

Kai nodded with approval as he entered, and added this building to his list of possible bunkers. With Class 1-A, Hatsume, and the materials in the building, this place would be easy to hold as long as they had rations. And that was assuming that Kai didn't make any improvements of his own.

To Kai, it was always best to think of the apocalyptic case scenario before the worst case.

What others would consider the worst-case scenario, Kai would call a possible Tuesday. Even the worst-case scenarios that included meteor strikes. Those could at least be predicted with plenty of time to do something. And All Might was still around to punch it.

"To be honest, Principal, I don't want to stick around to watch either. I may be a monster, but I'm not that bloodthirsty."

"At least your mother did that right."

"… Right."

Of course, she was also the one that helped him with his first kills. Funny how life was like that- humans were such contradictory creatures.

Kai and Nezu stepped up to a large steel box. With the press of a button that he pulled out of his jacket pocket, Nezu opened up the box to reveal Noumu. Chained just as he was when he was captured by the police, he was also likewise calm and still. He made no attempts to break the chains, though his strength should have been far more than sufficient for it.

Kai knelt and touched the ground, focusing on those he wanted to call upon. A moment later, Arachne, Minerva, and two zerglings rose from the warehouse floor.

"Before you begin, I want just one more confirmation. Is there anything in there?" he asked out loud, wanting to be sure that he wasn't about to torture an intelligent creature.

"My lord, there is nothing within this creature's mind. It seems that it was made to only respond to something made by its creator. This thing is below a simple beast, but its creator thinks remarkably like us," Minerva's raspy voice resounded in both Kai and Nezu's minds.

Nezu had a complicated expression on his face. It was reassuring that Noumu was not intelligent, considering what Kai was about to do to study him. However, thinking about how Noumu was likely a normal human once….

"Not to worry, Principal, we'll get to the bottom of this. Of course, I could always just…" Kai's voice trailed off as he gave the diminutive principal a meaningful look.

"Tempting. However, you know as well as I that the government takes issue with mass surveillance. We can't just have you invading everyone's privacy to find the League of Villains."

"I'd hardly call it an invasion of privacy. Especially if what governments around the world is not considered that." Kai had a sour look on his face. He nodded to the queens and gave them some general rules about how to carry on the… investigation.

Kai and Nezu turned and left the warehouse.

"True, what you would do is not exactly an invasion of privacy. But if you had your way, you would essentially declare martial law and have your 'troops' everywhere."

"I'd do a bit more than that, but fine, I guess that it sounds bad when you put it that way. But, sir, don't you know that-"

"That you already have your… changelings, was it? Yes. I know that they are around the city. But I also know that you've mostly been having them do little things like pulling people out of moving traffic, not hunting down criminals. As I recall from your files, they are watchers and spies, not trackers or soldiers."

"That is correct. I guess they have some assassination potential, but they are too delicate. Thanks for reading that."

"It's no problem at all," Nezu said. It really wasn't, but the fact of the matter was that he still wasn't sure what to think about Kai. He was so worried about his self-control that he insisted that all of the teachers know the ins and outs of his Quirk so that they could deal with his summons and use the collar to knock him out, yet talking with him in person, Nezu could see no sign that that could happen. He was odd, and had moments that showed the mental aging that his life had given him, but not much more serious than that.

Suddenly, Kai chuckled.

"What seems to be funny?" Nezu asked. It wasn't what was-

"Don't worry. I just remembered that Class 1-A should have just found my little surprise at the end of their blacked-out bus ride about now. The look on their faces should be priceless, but I had to trust them into Ayako's care."

"That a** is just messing with us now, isn't he? This is the next level?" Bakugo asked.

"Yep! That's my brother," Ayako called cheerfully. She quickly turned and snapped a picture of everyone's faces for enjoyment later.

"Today's training- not really training! Have fun, talk about whatever you want, knowing that Kai won't hear, enjoy the day, and most importantly, find something to smile about!

"I mean, this is Universal Studios, after all! The other 'USJ!'"

So, by blacked-out bus ride, I mean the windows were blacked out to hide everything. For all they knew, they were going to be dumped outside of the city in a monster den to fight their way out.

Too bad this isn't a genre where that is more possible. Nanomancer Reborn, perhaps?

Well, if you've read this far, all I can say is don't expect me to upload consistently. Apparently, that is the one thing I can't do well. Sorry.

I think I'll just give up on the apologies every time.
