I stared at my father with a naive, expectant gaze, not unlike those of a child wanting to get a parent's attention. Father, who received such a gaze from me, stared back. I could see the complicated gaze from within his eyes, causing me to slightly frown in confusion, not knowing what was going on. Father gave a slight sigh and walked over to the side of the hospital bed, right beside me, and ruffled my hair gently. He gave a smile that did not seem quite cheerful, but instead was filled with many negative emotions.
As I was about to ask Father what was going on, my father said in a low tone, "Hunter, we are going to have another experiment in a day or two. Do you think you can handle it?"
