Gabril stopped staring at Kenzo with a sharp gaze, and Kenzo stared back at Gabril with the same intensity.
Teresa, who was between them, was confused. She looked at both of them, who seemed to be communicating through their gazes. She then looked back and saw other students walking towards them. Teresa ran to her classroom, leaving the two of them behind.
Huhhh huhhhh
Teresa crawled to her seat. Next to it was Yova, who looked at her with a curious and questioning expression. Just as Teresa sat down, she was startled by Yova's face coming close to hers. Teresa then pushed her face away, and Yova scrunched her face, looking at Nova.
"What's your relationship with Gabril?" Yova asked.
"Gabril? Oh, he's the child of my employer," Teresa answered while pulling out a book from her bag.
"Your employer's child?" Yova was surprised to hear that.
"Yes, I'm the maid's child. Is that a problem?" Teresa asked.
"No, it's fine," Yova nodded, looking at Teresa. She seemed shocked to hear that Teresa was the maid's child and that the girl was very confident in saying so.
"Why do you look at me like that?" Teresa asked without turning to face Yova. "You don't want to be friends with me anymore now that you know this, right?" Teresa then turned her face to look at Yova.
"Not at all, who said that? I don't judge by wealth. I have plenty of that myself," Yova replied. "I was just surprised to see you with Gabril earlier."
Teresa smiled and turned her face away from the girl sitting next to her. But then she suddenly remembered a question and looked back at Yova.
"Has Gabril been to this school before?" Teresa asked.
"Huh, you didn't know?" Yova looked confused. "Gabril is an exchange student; he just returned from the UK."
Teresa nodded. No wonder she had never seen the man before and why Baruk had met him yesterday.
"How come you didn't know?" Yova asked.
"I just moved here," Teresa replied.
The bell rang...
All the students went to their respective classrooms, including Kenzo, which made Teresa's focus shift towards him.
'Still handsome,' she thought to herself.
Teresa shook her head to refocus and tried to concentrate on the lesson. A teacher entered and greeted the students with a friendly smile. It just so happened that the teacher was their homeroom teacher.
"Teresa, Kenzo, please come with me for a moment," the teacher called after explaining and assigning the task.
"Huh?" Teresa pointed to herself in confusion as to why she was being called.
"Hey, you're being called."
Teresa stood up and followed the teacher out of the classroom. Kenzo also stood up, and they walked side by side following the teacher. Teresa glanced at Kenzo, who was taller than her, making her tilt her head slightly to see his face. He kept walking with his eyes fixed ahead.
Brakkk
Teresa accidentally bumped into a trash can because she was too focused on Kenzo and not paying attention to where she was going.
The teacher stopped and turned to look at Teresa. "Are you okay?" and walked over to her.
"I'm fine, sir. Just lost focus," Teresa glanced at Kenzo, who had also stopped.
The three of them then walked into a room where several other students, including Gabril, were present.
Gabril waved his hand at Teresa when he saw her enter the room.
"Teresa, Kenzo, please have a seat."
Teresa sat at one of the desks there. She sat next to Gabril's desk and saw Kenzo sitting in the front.
The teacher began to speak and explain the purpose of their presence in the room. "You are some of the top-performing students at this school. Soon, there will be a national olympiad, and our school will participate. You are the selected students who will compete in this event," the teacher explained.
"At this moment, a test will be conducted to assess your abilities for determining the subjects you will be assigned to."
"Wow, this is sudden," Teresa said, shocked by the news. She hadn't had any time to study for this test.
"Sir," Teresa raised her hand. "Sir, I haven't studied," she said with a naive expression.
Gabril laughed, and some other students looked at Teresa with astonished faces.
"Oh, right, Teresa. You're a new student, aren't you? I forgot. This test is conducted on short notice to gauge your abilities in handling the questions."
"Oh, I see," Teresa pulled back her hand and lowered her face, feeling embarrassed about what she had just done.
The teacher began distributing worksheets and writing tools to each student.
Teresa received the worksheet. Her eyes widened when she saw the large number of questions on the paper. They were given one hour to complete the questions.
"That's a lot," Teresa muttered. She saw that all the students in the room had already started working on their papers and were focused on their own work. Teresa then began to read the questions and work on them.
Teresa's left hand supported her head while her right hand was busy scribbling on the paper. Even though Teresa hadn't studied, she found the questions on the paper not too difficult.
"When you're finished, please submit your work at the front and return to class."
Teresa stood up upon hearing this and saw that other students were still working on their papers.
"Hey, Teresa, are you done already?" the teacher asked from the front.
Teresa looked to her left and right; everyone else was still working. She then looked at her worksheet and became doubtful.
"Sttt sttt, you're done," Gabril asked Teresa.
"Just submit it," Teresa nodded and walked forward to submit her answers and then walked out of the room.
Teresa walked back to her classroom alone. The hallways were very quiet since all the students were in their classes.
"Teresa," someone called.
Teresa turned around and saw Gabril running towards her from the room.
"Young master," Teresa bowed her head.
"I told you to just call me by my name."
"Oh, right, sorry, sir, I mean, Gabril," Teresa replied awkwardly. She still felt uneasy and hesitant around Gabril because he was her employer.
They walked side by side. "By the way, what class are you in?" Gabril asked.
"Science 4," Teresa replied.
"Oh, the same class as Kenzo. I'm in Science 2," Gabril said, glancing at Teresa.
Teresa nodded, feeling confused and awkward about what to say.
"Turns out you're quite smart too."
"Huh, n-not really," Teresa stammered.
"If you weren't, you wouldn't have been brought to the room earlier, and you finished it so quickly."
"But not as smart as you; after all, you're an exchange student."
While they were talking, someone suddenly passed by them and walked quickly. Teresa saw it was Kenzo.
"Kenzo," Teresa called out to him.
"Young master, I'll go ahead," she bowed and ran to catch up with Kenzo.
"Kenzo, wait."
Kenzo did not look back at all and kept walking, leaving Teresa behind.
"Kenzo, I'll return your jacket tomorrow. I washed it last night, but it's still not dry."
Kenzo stopped in his tracks and looked towards Teresa, then slowly walked towards her.
Teresa's eyes widened as she saw Kenzo's face approaching her.
"Kenzo..."
