Chương 76: secret operation P-ness

After a few days of seemingly quiet yet tense atmosphere finally came the day of the official meeting of the agency team-up, it seems Nighteye managed to bring a few additional heroes, and thus the Nighteye agency building was currently full of heroes and sidekicks alike.
And after a short legal battle, Nighteye also managed to get Midoriya back as his sidekick on the pretense of 'aid in investigation' but it was obvious Midoriya begged him. Damn tsundere...
After a short wait in the lobby, we were finally funneled into the meeting room, now having a few additional seats.
"Now, due to the fact we have a few additional new faces I will begin explaining the purpose of this meeting" Nighteye adjusted his glasses before turning his projector yet again. I was already ready to stop listening, but a quick jab from Jiro refocused my attention.
"In recent times villain activity has been rising to an all-time high. And now organized crime has also begun appearing, gangs that were hiding in the shadows are becoming more bold" Nighteye began his opening speech but was interrupted in almost an instant.
"If we're doing a gang crack-down, can't we leave it to All Might? Also, I can't ignore the fact that you are bringing kids to such an operation" Rocklock, a seemingly arrogant hero said while staring at the sidekicks the heroes brought. His eyes landed on a young girl with blue hair and red eyes, his heart tinged as knew her view of heroics would get destroyed as soon as she saw what villains sometimes get away with.
"Rocklock, I assure you every person in this room would have his own role, even the sidekicks would get crucial roles in the operation" Nighteye retorted while flipping the slide showing their main target.
"But our target isn't just some run-of-the-mill gang, it's Yakuza" As soon as everybody heard Nighteye's words they refocused their attention making sure they didn't mishear
"Yakuza....?" A nameless hero muttered out loud, the name hasn't been heard ever since All Might came to Japan, I'm sure some younger heroes don't even know what Yakuza mea---
"Scuse' me! What's a Yakuza?" Mountain Lady raised her hands while asking out loud, Nighteye sighed before answering her question as swiftly as he could.
"They go by Shie Hassaikai, lead by Kai Chisaki they are an organized crime that mainly deals with drugs like trigger and the recently discovered quirk suppressor" As soon as Nighteye explained Mountain Lady exclaimed a 'ahah!' however the rest of the heroes expression's hardened.
Almost everybody in the room had to deal with a villain using trigger. Obviously, the more widely spread trigger wasn't very strong however some cases had villains using trigger that were equivalent to quirk awakenings. Of course that came at a price, the trigger would deteriorate the person's body especially the nervous system as well as shave parts of a person's quirk factor making their quirk much more unstable.
"In the past few weeks, we have done a few independent investigations and found out that recently the Shie Hassaikai has been contacting gangs and other criminal organizations to amass funds and connections. And most recently the leader of the Shie Hassaikai has been spotted meeting up with a member of the League of Villains, Jin Bubaigawara AKA twice" As soon as those words were heard the tense atmosphere tensed even more, Midoriya especially had a dark expression as he recognized the picture of Kai Chisaki.
"We got some of that information with the assistance of some of the local heroes that specialize in those things." Nighteye gazed at Fat-Gum and EdgeShot
"Wait wait wait! Are we going to ignore the whole 'drug that destroys quirks' part?" One of the rookie heroes interjected
"I was getting to that point. Bubble girl, if you please?" Nighteye gazed at Bubble Girl, as soon as her name was called she turned on her tablet and began reading the investigation report.
"Ahem, a report from Fat-Gum on the HN. Reading----"
"You can skip that part"
"Y-yes, when Fat-Gum was on patrol with his sidekicks Amajiki and Kirishima they encountered a gang fight, and when restraining them Amajiki was shot with a bullet that had stopped his quirk from activating"
Mirio who was listening to the meeting silently couldn't help himself from jumping up with a look of concern
"Are you alright Amajiki?"
"Yes, I'm fine... After going to the hospital my quirk returned" Amajiki lowered his head feeling the gaze of the curious heroes
"In addition, Kirishima was also shot with a bullet however it simply ricocheted off him allowing us to gain a sample of the bullet" Bubble girl showed a photo of the bullet on screen, its injector cut in half revealing the strange red liquid that was oddly reminiscent of blood
"The samples taken from the bullet revealed traces of human blood and quirk factor" As the words echoed in Midoriya's ears he immediately realized where Kai got the drug from... From Eri
"So you're saying the quirk erasing bullets comes from someone's quirk?" Dragon Hero Ryukyu asked rhetorically
"It's safe to say we have to include a rescue mission in the operation" EdgeShot added making every hero realize the operation was much bigger than they had expected.
"Let's not waste much time, For now, we will split the operation into 5 teams. 2 investigation teams and 3 teams that will work together during the raid itself"
Nighteye stared at the heroes in the room before listing each of their roles.
"The first team will be the primary investigation team, it will made of EdegShot and his sidekicks as well as team lurkers. They will investigate the darker parts of the organization while trying to gain Intel on the main compound of the Shie Hassaikai."
"The next team will be made up of my agency and we'll take part in the legal part of the investigation such as getting the warrent to storm the place in the first place" Nighteye turned his gaze to Midoriya, who gazed back with determination in his gaze.
"The rest will get their roles once we gain significant Intel. We'll meet for another meeting in a few weeks" Nighteye turned off his projector, and as soon as he did the entire room burst into discussion.
The only thought running through my mind was...
'is EdgeShot finally going to teach me how to investigate?'

"This is definitely the place" Jiro muttered as he ear jacks connected to the alleyway walls.
We were both standing in the dark alleyway waiting for EdgeShot's instructions. Luckily we didn't have to worry about being caught as we went eye-catching at all.
We both weren't wearing our hero costumes but instead wearing all blackout clothes except for the back of my jacket having an 'R' painted in blue... For style
"How can you be sure?" I asked while trying to listen as well, unfortunately, even super hearing can't give me the ability to hear through walls... That's ridiculous
"They're literally talking about drug deals, even if they aren't a part of the Shie Hassaikai we have enough evidence to arrest them" Jiro looked at me annoyed
"Damn... You're going by the book... That's sexy as hell" I muttered before walking out of the alley with Jiro quickly following behind me
"What the hell are you doing?" Jiro asked while looking around, the whole operation could be ruined if we get caught, however...
"You can't get caught if there's no witnesses... That's the second type of stealth" I said before knocking on the door to the building, soon enough we heard the sounds of people going towards the door
"Whaddya want?" A rough looking man asked while opening the door, his appearance making it easy to tell whether he was a criminal or not
"Arrivederci" I waved the man off before sending him directly into my subspace where he would most likely get lost... I will deliver him to the police station... Eventually...
"You little brat!" Of course, the other people in the building immediately noticed. I mean if you saw your colleague disappear into smoke (literally) you'd get pretty concerned
Not wasting his time he immediately pulled out a gun unfortunately he didn't prepare for someone to rupture his eardrums.
*Boom*
"Oui Rimuru can't you just deal with all of them yourself?" Jiro muttered while pointing her speaker gauntlets at the maimed villain
"Hey, you need to get a little action yourself. You aren't a trophy wife, you're a hero" I patted Jiro's shoulder before pulling cuffs out of my subspace and putting them on the villain
"You can turn that off" I said as Jiro turned off the speaker finally letting me hear myself, without wasting any time I walked up to the villain and kicked him in the face
"Start talking or I'll separate your head from your shoulder," I said while covering my hand in [Beelzbub] I was being serious but nobody needed to know that
"Rimuru! You can't threaten people"
"If I don't he won't talk" I again kicked the villain until he finally began listening to me, however, the determination in his gaze made me sigh inwardly
"I'll never tell you anything!" He shouted while struggling in the cuffs, unfortunately for him the cuffs are made from very strong material courtesy of Mei.
"That's what they all say" I muttered before stepping in the man's foot, breaking it in half. As his screams reverberated inside the room I waited patiently for him to start talking
"I don't know much but there's an office on the second floor! So whatever you want is probably there" The man screamed in pain, a subtle smile forming on my face as I kicked his face again sending him into unconsciousness.
"That was quick... good," I said before walking past. I hate wasting time on those kind of things
"That was excessively cruel" Jiro muttered while staring at the beaten-up man, of course, she still followed me upstairs
"Being a hero isn't about being a goodie two shoes, we got to get work done not waste time and try and rehabilitate every mass murderer" I hid a subtle jab at Midoriya before finally reaching the second floor, which was apparently soundproof as they didn't seem to notice the scuffle downstairs...
"Plot armor I swear," I said before sprinting forward and dropkicking the first person inside the room. And without any time to react, I dealt with the other people inside the room with a well-placed punch in the face. No quirk needed
Soon enough we entered the office, and as soon as we did we quickly realized this might be the truly hardest part of the operation...
"So which filing cabinet are we starting with?" I asked Jiro while staring at the room filled with at least 50, each of them filled to the brim with files
"Gosh, I wish I unlearned how to read" I immediately agreed with Jiro's words as I carried a pile of files to read. For some reason, villains liked keeping their info in physical copies. Meaning no
Ctrl+F or a search function...
After a few swift minutes we were lucky enough to find what we were looking for, after punching a locked cabinet it seemed to hold the more important files like locations, names, and such.
"For villains, they follow laws a little too much" Jiro muttered as she read the 2 page drug deal that was mostly legal jargon.
"I guess this is like a multiple-part quest. And that's our next location" I said while looking at a map included. Getting the juicy info would probably only be at the main branches of the organization.
"Gosh I hate those"
"Every day I have to work" I quoted Sisyphos before standing up from the desk and making my way out of the room, however before I could exit the door burst open as a man stood before us with his gun already pointed at me...
"Is this a cliffhanger moment? It's not like I won't kick his a** anyway"
