Chương 1: Reincarnation

Hi, everyone!

This is the first novel I've ever written, and I'm really excited to share it with you all. As a student, I kindly ask for your patience and support. Please forgive any mistakes and help me improve by pointing them out—I'm eager to learn.

English is not my first language, so I hope you'll understand if there are any errors in grammar or spelling. I'm doing my best to convey the story that's been living in my head.

I hope you'll enjoy reading this as much as I've enjoyed writing it so far.

New York, 21st Century

In the heart of the city that never sleeps, amidst the chaos of bustling streets and towering skyscrapers, a young man stepped out of an ordinary office building. Dressed in a sharp black suit, his white hair gleamed under the sunlight, and his striking blue eye carried a glimmer of hope—a rare sight on his otherwise weary face.

He looked up at the vast sky, inhaling deeply. For the first time in years, he felt alive.

Moments earlier, he had faced the biggest fear of his life: his tyrannical, soul-draining boss. For years, he endured the endless grind of a second-rate job that crushed his dreams and stifled his spirit. But today, something changed. Today, he stood up for himself.

He had quit.

Stepping onto the sidewalk, a triumphant smile spread across his face. This was his moment of freedom—a declaration that he was done living a life that didn't belong to him.

As he walked down the crowded streets of New York, the sound of honking cars and murmuring crowds faded into the background. His heart swelled with newfound hope and determination. The weight of his past lifted, replaced with an intoxicating sense of possibility.

"I can do anything," he thought, his mind racing with dreams of a brighter future.

For the first time in his life, he felt truly unstoppable. The suffocating chains of mediocrity that had held him back were gone.

But fate is a cruel storyteller, and its pen is often dipped in tragedy.

Out of nowhere, a drunk driver tore down the street, his car swerving recklessly as if guided by chaos itself. In the blink of an eye, the car veered onto the sidewalk, heading straight for the young man.

The impact was violent, a collision of flesh and metal that ended his life in an instant.

He lay on the cold pavement, his body broken, blood pooling around him. But even in those final moments, there was no fear. No regret. Instead, he felt a strange sense of peace.

A faint smile touched his lips.

"At least," he thought, "I lived for myself, even if only for a moment."

And so, at the young age of 26, the protagonist's journey in this world came to a tragic end.

But was this truly the end of his story?

Time ceased to exist.

I don't know how long I was trapped in that liminal state—days, months, years? It was impossible to tell. All I knew was the feeling of warmth around me, like being wrapped in a soft cocoon. I couldn't move much, and my body felt confined in an impossibly tight space.

Was this what death felt like?

There was no sound, no light, just the soothing embrace of the void. It could have been an eternity or the blink of an eye. Time had no meaning here.

Then, without warning, pain ripped through me—a searing pang that shattered the tranquility.

Suddenly, I felt free. The constraining walls around me gave way, and a flood of sensations overwhelmed me. My vision blurred, but as it cleared, I saw two faces staring down at me.

One belonged to a stunningly beautiful woman, her blonde hair cascading like sunlight, her eyes brimming with love. The other was a handsome man with sharp features, his expression filled with pride and warmth.

They looked like giants.

No… it wasn't them who were giants. It was me—I was small.

I tried to move, waving my tiny arms instinctively toward the woman. She gasped softly, her eyes shimmering with tears as she gazed at me with an expression of pure adoration.

"What on earth has happened to me?" panic was rising in my chest. My hands—they were so small, like the hands of a baby.

Hours passed—three, maybe four—before I finally began to understand the situation. My mind, still foggy from the transition, pieced together what was happening.

From all the web novels and light novels I had read, the answer became clear: I had been reincarnated.

And not just anywhere. As my surroundings became more familiar, recognition struck me like a thunderbolt. This wasn't some random world. I had been reincarnated into the universe of Mushoku Tensei.

A mix of emotions surged through me—excitement, disbelief, and even a touch of bitterness. I had always admired the story for its incredible character development and the protagonist's unwavering love for his family. But I hated the ending. It felt undeserving of the journey the story had taken.

And now… I was here.

From what I could observe, I had been reincarnated as the son of Paul Greyrat and Zenith Greyrat. This realization stirred something deep within me.

This was no mere second chance. This was an opportunity.

A chance to go beyond the limitations of an ordinary man.

I didn't just want to live a better life. I wanted to transcend everything—become a god, an immortal, the most powerful being in this universe or any other. I wanted to live free, unshackled by fate, society, or any other force that dared to bind me.

This time, I wouldn't just exist. I would rise.

Author's Note

Thank you so much for reading the first chapter of my novel! This is the first time I've ever written something like this, so your feedback means the world to me.

Just a quick heads-up: this is a fun side project for me, not something I'm taking too seriously. I'm currently a college student, and balancing this with my studies is challenging. If I end up putting this novel on hold or even dropping it, I hope you'll understand and not be too upset.

Let me know your thoughts. Should I continue this story?
